jamtf Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Here are some SW figs: http://cgi.ebay.com/2-650-Star-Wars-Lego-m...1QQcmdZViewItem averaging $8.30 a piece without shipping... not that crazy but the grand total is huge. Some are definitely worth it, others aren't. I truly wonder where this one will end up providing it will be sold. I mean, who can bear to spend $22,000 + shipping on this enormous and impressive quantity of 2,650 Lego SW minifigs? As far as I know the seller has a BL store with mainly SW figs also.
Stauder Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Wow... Somones obsessed... Wonder how he got them all. Too bad I cant but online.. Otherwise Id have dibz on the Kasyyk troopers..
jamtf Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 Wow... Somones obsessed... Wonder how he got them all. Too bad I cant but online.. Otherwise Id have dibz on the Kasyyk troopers.. How he got them? I think he purchased many sets (on clearance?) over the past couple years... and it took him 8 years so he started the collection when Lego first introduced the SW line in 1999.
simonwillems Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 The one thing I would expect when somebody offers Star Wars minifigs in great numbers like this are entire armies of Battle Droids. There are only three though, and not even normal ones....? X-O
mutley777 Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 It's not really a good deal unless you are looking to sell them on again. Out of the 2650 minifigs i would only want 300 or so of them, and some of the larger mutiples are of minifigs nobody wants!
Starwars4J Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 That's insane! I'd expect one of the gold C3PO in there at that price... I'm sure this guy spent a lot collecting the figs, but he has to be reasonable *wacko* Although like almost anyone here I'd love to have a collection like that *wub* It's definitely worth a few thousand, I'll give him that
supernova Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 if i had a lot of spare $$ and an ebay store this might be a worthwhile purchase :-/ but even then probably not; the profit margin still isn't great enough.
Wout Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 50 Greedo's , ideal for a Rodian army! :-D A rodian Battle pack, to protect Jabba :-D *wub*
snefroe Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 what a weird bid... does he really think he's gonna sell these in one package? *wacko* It's definitely worth a few thousand, I'll give him that a few thousand? hm... don't think so, really. sure, some of the figs are valuable, that doesn't mean some one is willing to let's say pay 5000 dollars on a 2650minifig deal of which you only want a handful really bad... the only way to get some money out of this is by selling them in packages, one valuable mixed with several meaningless figs... but even then, i don't see why any one would buy that if you can get the fig you want on bl for a price lower than the package price
Starwars4J Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Well, let's part it out (all prices are the lowest on BL in USD): Aldar Bleedo (Star Wars Bucket from 1999) x 15 = ???? Hinckley Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 He might make $20,000 if he made a separate auction for each but that would take time as you couldn't put them all out there at once. That would saturate the market. Did you see his other auctions? He's selling a Greedo fig for $50? Rare minifigs get the highest price when you put the on 7 day auction with a $0.99 starting price, in my experience. Three people have made offers that have all been declined. I really want to make a $4 offer. :-P I love when I see ridiculous LEGO auctions like this. I really want 17 Jar Jar Binks though so I'm going to start saving my pennies. This will be a fun one to watch...
starwarsdk Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Hi I made him an offer on 2500 USD, but he declined it. Whatever price is offerd to him, he wont sell unless it
snefroe Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 (edited) Well, let's part it out (all prices are the lowest on BL in USD): hm... some one's been bored at work... X-D 16.000 is a reference to bricklink prices. there's one HUGE difference between BL and ebay: in a bl shop, you can just add the figs to your list, but they don't have to be sold in a week's time, so you can ask a fairly high price. on Ebay you need to sell your stuff pretty quickly, so your price needs to be lower than the bl prices, especially if you're dealing with sw collectors. not to mention it's far more difficult to sell a massive amount of figs for e few $1000 then to sell an MISB ATAT for $250... Also, if you mix crappy figs with valuable figs then don't expect people to pay full price for both... he'll seriously have to reconsider his bid if you're asking me... btw, what's officially being regarded as "a brand new minifig?" Once it's out of the box, doesn't that degrade the value of the fig just as it would degrade the value of the set all together? Edited June 20, 2007 by snefroe1
Fordo Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 This guy thinks he can make the big $$ on ebay with a large quantity of figs yet some aren't desireable and thus no one would pay that much. He's going to be forced to lower the price or separate them if he even wants a chance at selling them.
jamtf Posted June 20, 2007 Author Posted June 20, 2007 The value of the fig is not degraded once it is taken out of the box. These figs can still be considered new and never played with. I mean, the legs and arms were not moved a million times, parts have not been repeatedly exchanged with other figs and there is no risk of the fig being damaged, playworn or mistreated by child's play (no marks). They were only taken out of the box, assembled to be sure it is complete and then put away in a secure place and they are therefore supposed to be in as new condition as you can get. There is hardly any difference compared to a fig in a closed box except these are assembled i.e. legs and torso combined + headgear attached to fig. Only used figs are in my opinion worth less, either used for play or used for display purposes. This person by the way has a BL store called Flying Solo Lego maintained by popsicle (alias). The eBay store was formerly also called Flying Solo but this was apparently for some reason changed into Danish Building Toys. There are more figs to be found in the BL store if 2650 pieces is not enough. X-D
starwarsdk Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Hi I just for the fun of it, made him an offer on 10K, but that was declined aswell, so i don
