Zerobricks Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Yo! I dont really post many WIP-s so here it goes. The rear axle uses 9L links as leaf springs while the front uses a classic spring. I plan to use RC motor to make this thing as ridiculous as in real life Quote
PROlego Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Looks good, but can it be converted into a Space Shuttle? Quote
grum64 Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 If you want ridiculous build a Bond Bug! Quote
Black-Build Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Looking forward to see it finished! Quote
AndyCW Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Ha! It needs to roll over like the real thing. No training wheels allowed. v/r Andy Quote

anton1678 Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I heard that even in real life this thing is unstable. Adding an RC motor will probably make it flip over and pull wheelies and drift around! I've always wanted to see this in lego Quote
Doc_Brown Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Ahh I remember those! hahaha, funny as! Will you be able to fit a bag of cement on the passager side to stop it rolling over? Looking forward to seeing this thing in action! Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I didn't know the car by its name so I googled it and found . I suggest you don't take this one outside after it's done, unless you want some new patterns on you bricks :-) Quote
Zerobricks Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 Here's todays progress, a rolling chassis: I can make it do power spins, but not flipping (yet) Quote
anton1678 Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Gear it up, that way you'll get to faster, so it has more chance of flipping and rolling around. Take the front tire off and see how it drifts if you want to. I am looking forward to the video Quote

I'm thinking of a studded body... Quote
legomuppet9 Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Reliant Robin's... killing the North of England since 1973 Quote
Milan Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I'm thinking of a studded body... Enlarge it a bit, and here you go! Quote
grum64 Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 (edited) Build man, build... The anticipation is killing me! Edited September 6, 2014 by grum64 Quote
kieran Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Is that a custom cable on to the rc motor? Quote
Zerobricks Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 The cable I made myslef out pf broken RC motor and a 9V plug, its basically a PF extension cable. So here's today's progress from empyt shell: Which can be removed from the cahssis in one piece: Adding doors: And fianlly an interrior: Quote
grum64 Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) Well done. Looks good Not sure about the all black colour scheme though but hey, you build with what you have. Why not build a few and do a spot of 3 wheeler banger racing That I'd love to see! I should add that there's a speedway track a few miles from me that runs 3 wheeler banger racing in the 'off season'. It's carnage, fibreglass everywhere but it's a heck of a lot of fun! Zerobricks Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 If I had any other colors I'd build it but I have none others... AND YES IT ROLLS Quote
piterx Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 ahah i love it man! it's really cool :) can't wait to see it rolling XD Quote
Zerobricks Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) The time has come... So here's the finished model in all its eccentric glory. I ran out of blak click connector bits, so I has to use dkgray.. The rear axle uses 9L links as leaf springs. Use of solid rear axle "adds" to the already poor stability. The model is one of the most detailed ones I ever built It is also THE structually poorest model I had the misfortune of handling Every time my parrot sneezed bits would fall off... Combining that with soft suspension, opened rear differential and a powered RC motor and you find yourself in a situation where you spend 90% time rebuilding and 10% driving crashing the car. All in all its a rather weird car... Building this car felt like dog giving birth to a cat. Yes its lovely and fast, but the structure is suicidal. I am rather split... I know a usual studless panel construction is stronger and usually lighter.. but this one is more detailed... I think I will have to get more studded bricks Enough babling here's the video of the Retarded Robin driving crashing: How the hell did the people of UK survive this...meatgrinder is beyond me... Now I understand why statistically Reliant drivers are the safest... all the unsafe ones died off when their Reliants rolled over hills bridges and such. Edited September 8, 2014 by Zblj Quote
piterx Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 ahahah nice video man :D it flips really well! Quote
legomuppet9 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 That is a very accurate representation of how unsturdy they were in real life great video too (the end... not crashing is boring I mean seriously ) Quote
Rishab N Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Nice work on this one. Maybe you could make a manual version for MT Quote
