It's moments like this when one realizes their place in the economic strata, eh? Hahaha.

That would be an amazing piece to own (seriously: just imagine that in your den or office! It's all class, yet still 'fun'), but it's much to large a price tag to even begin to try and justify spending on LEGO. :p

Hi, many thanks for the reply citizen. Yes it's absolutely breathtaking I wish I could afford it too! Here is the breakdown:

Lego pieces (1000's) + Man hours (100's) + Talent (infinite) + Delivery = £7500 o.n.o

That is an amazing model, however I am not sure I understand why someone would contribute the display space much less money for a model such as this that they did not make.

I wish Ed all the luck in selling this, but just not sure who or why someone would want it or buy it.

For the same reasons people purchase paintings they didn't paint and statues they didn't sculpt?

It's a lovely sculpture that I can imagine would interest a lot of people: fans of space themes, LEGO, whimsy...or any combination thereof.

It's really just a matter of finding someone with enough disposable income to whom this piece appeals.

It'd by no means be a casual purchase. This would be a buy akin to furnishing or artwork. It's a matter of realizing that it would be absolutely perfect in that one corner of your den, and psyche yourself to the point where you 'need' to have it. Hahaha.

I could see The Plastic Brick Museum buying something like this.

And making the artist's visit (it says he'll deliver it personally) a big event. They would definitely have the space to display it. I was able to visit the museum this summer. Some really good stuff there already.

This isn't a Licensed subject. Moving to Special Themes… now.

...and Ed will bring it to you himself? That's an uncommon shipping method.

That's what the auction says. Apparently, it's unglued. He probably and rightly expects that there'll be some damage while getting it to the owner and wants to be available to repair it once it makes it to its destination. That's real service.
