MAB Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I think you should post this on Lego Ideas this set is great!! The only other Minas Tirith that is getting even relatively close is https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36275 and even then it has a little while to go. Your version is probably my favorite! Has a great variety of minfigs plus it isn't to oversized. Plus for the true fans they could buy multiples of this set and make something bigger if they want. I think that you would have good support from both LOTR and non-LOTR fans. The problem with it is that it is about as big as 4-5x Mines of Moria sets. So that is $400 right there. Plus it is a gate with extended side walls but no Minas Tirith inside. Would large numbers of people (especially people not into LOTR) really pay $400 for a gate, lots of figures (with many repeats) and nothing inside? It is nothing like a normal lego set. Lego sets tend to have small number of figures to get to a cheap price point, but allow the user to combine multiples together. Now that Minas Tirith might have worked as a gate, with the fell beast and a few minifigs, and 4x Uruk-hai Army style add on wall sets with a troll in each. I reckon that is how lego would have approached this as a set, in the same style as Helm's Deep. Quote
sahidko Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 ...Below is everything together. Grond, 4x Gondor Army set, and the Minas Tirith Gates.. ...Now that Minas Tirith might have worked as a gate, with the fell beast and a few minifigs, and 4x Uruk-hai Army style add on wall sets with a troll in each. I reckon that is how lego would have approached this as a set, in the same style as Helm's Deep.... But that's exactly what Deathleech has done actually. :) Quote

I'm not sure what the piece count is, but I could be wrong. It doesn't look like it is as big as the death star. Quote
Deathleech Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 I thought that this looks more like a $200-300 set. I'm not sure what the piece count is, but I could be wrong. It doesn't look like it is as big as the death star. Ya, by my calculations it's $270-340 all together. It has around 3,000 pieces and 35 minifigures with one large molded Fel Beast creature. The Lego Death Star only has 24 minifigures, but it also has almost 800 more pieces. Of course I am sure Lego could and would down size some parts. Regardless this is 6 different sets all combined together. You could easily get just Grond and the Minas Tirith Gates for under $200, or both of those and two wall sections for under $300. Quote
Mencot Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I like this alot, great ideas Deathleech. This would be something that would fit into TLG design and LOTRs design and I like the fact that it would be modular so one could buy many moduls to gather it up to make it bigger. If TLG would have any intentions of making any more LOTRs sets this is something they should look into, because like this it would be something I would put my money into. Quote
Bycougars Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 If Lego could make just four more LOTR sets I would hope that we would get: 1. Minas Tirith - Armored Cave troll, Gondor Soldiers, Gondor Rangers - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36275 2. Phelenor Fields - Witch King, Fell Beast, Eowyn - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/19148 3. Osgiliath - Faramir, Gondor Soldiers, Gondor Rangers - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/75997 4. Balrog - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/70624 Quote
heartofdavy Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Hoping they can push the Minas Tirith set through during the next "consideration" period. It's biggest competition will be the Jurassic Park themed set, but it seems they are already planning something along those lines http://www.neoape.com/first-official-image-of-lego-jurassic-world/ . legolas12 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I liked this one a lot, but I think the brick count and cost is too high for what it's trying to achieve. This was my favorite (realistically feasible) Minas Tirith set I've seen: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36275 Maybe it should be sold in 2 or 3 sections. The architecture (up-close) may not be as nice, but the overall effect is perfect! I think Eowyn, and the Witch King/Fel Beast battle could be it's own set--and maybe combined with or in addition to an Oliphant scene for the Battle of Pelenor Fields. Here is a good Osgiliath set: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/141244 Quote
