So, you've got 100,000 die-hard, comic-book-reading, toy-buying, sci-fi / fantasy nerds all crammed into the same building ... and Lego shows them a new poster. Unbelievable. Can Lego's marketing department really be that clueless?

Yeay its totally absurd *wacko* It seems they ate so scared with leaks that they don't even show anything !! Yeay brilliant strategy especially for licensed products *wacko* Can they be stupider ? yes but its kind of hard :-D

Yoda can you say me for what the V 19 is/was used?

Here is what the SW databank have to say on the V19:

Prototypes of the Slayn and Korpil V-19 Torrent starfighter were first introduced at the Battle of Geonosis. Having proven their worth as an assault fighter with exceptional speed and maneuverability, the Republic quickly produced V-19s to add to the arsenal of the growing clone army. Because of the months of training it took for the Republic's clone trooper pilots to become proficient with the vessel, the fighter was not available in large numbers for some of the early engagements of the war, but they made a prominent showing during the Battle of Muunilinst.

Initially designed as a short-range fighter, Republic technicians later added a Class-1 hyperdrive to equip the vessel for escort missions. The ship is unique in that it has two pairs of folding airfoils that give the ship added maneuverability and provides pilots with easy access to the ship's sliding canopy. The lower split airfoils coupled with enhanced repulsorlift engines make the ship an exceptional vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) fighter.

As external licensees began exploring the action of the Clone Wars, it became clear that the Republic needed a fighter-class space ship that was faster and more maneuverable than the Republic gunship, something the clones could pilot in support of the Jedi starfighter. For this task, Lucas Licensing turned to LucasArts' Art Director, Chris Williams and Concept Artist Greg Knight, who together have had over 1,000 approved Star Wars designs used in games and comic books.

While the Republic gunship emphasizes cargo, the Torrent fighter is about speed, blasters and maneuverability. The wings are bolted onto an engine to communicate this sense of power. The Torrent fighter's folding wings were inspired by the F4U Corsair of World War 2. The three wings are designed to fold up and out of the way so you could pack row after row of these vehicles together in the limited space of an assault ship. When the fighter takes off, it hovers for a second while the wings rotate into place.

Regarding your clone question: clone pilots ;-)

Enjoy that piece of SW culture ;-)

Do you think it's the fear of leaks? That's probably true, but it just makes no sense. The reason we always hear why Lego is so fanatical about leaks is that they don't want competitors to steal their ideas. But that's just stupid when it comes to the licensed products. Megbloks and Best-Lock CAN'T make Star Wars sets or Batman sets or Indy sets. So why all the secrecy??

Lego needs to learn how to build buzz -- have a big splashy press release months in advance, then dribble out some teaser pictures over the ensuing months to build fan interest and get people talking. Instead, because we never get any official word from Lego about anything, the pictures tend to leak out. When that happens, Lego has lost control. They no longer control the message or the timeline.

Even when they DO make a rare press release, like with the Indy sets ... we already had tons of rumors prior to the announcement, so by the time they finally got around to the big announcement, it was met with shrugs. "Yawn. We already know about that."

Lego is a lot like Apple in that regard. Apple is fanatical about their secrecy.

I totally agree with you but I fail to see another plausible explenation for their lack of showing new products at SDCC |-/

So I narrowed it down to 2 unthinkable options (oops a little too Simpsons here :-D ):

* fear of leaks (which we agree makes no sense and is really stupid)

* they don't want to advertise future products like Hasbro (which is as stupid)

Conclusion Pure stupidity mixed with very bad marketing department decisions (sad but true)

Hi,

the imperial dropship will contain 81 parts.

greetings Hendrik

That's pretty much what we expected. It's a similar piece count to the previous BPs.

Actually I'm glad Lego is not including them

Sure I own a whole bunch of them but I have always preferred Episode 3 clones

They look way cooler *sweet*

81 Parts seems good,Lets hope its as good as the Droid Battlepack if not better

Any other part numbers?

*Cough* Rogue Shadow *cough*

Excuse me :-D

Hey Piranha, its really not safe to scream that :-P But I totally agree with, we are the very few who are not fan of the Ep2 clone and who do not wish for their return...ever >:-)

We should start a cult :-P

That wait for pics is really unbearable, especially since in France we do not have any of the new sets yet >:-(

Arrrghhh! What 'new sets' do you mean, Yoda? Over in America, I have the JSF, the MTT, the Naboo starfighter, and the Sith Infiltrator.

I mean all the upcomming sets from august till september meaning: SI, Tie Crawler, Rep Cruiser, Hoth Base, AT-AT ;-)

This year in January, France was lucky as hell hehe but that later wave is slow to reach us >:-( UK already has the Rep Cruiser and Hoth base, US has the SI and another country has the Crawler ;-)

Maybe France will be the first to have the AT-AT hehe who knows :-P
