Zarkan Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 I really hope its that one that way meaner It better be. I mean, yeah a modernized version of the first JSF design would be cool, but a JSF with Anikan wouldn't be as special if it wasn't the one from the clone wars cartoon. Who doesn't like those giant engines, giant blasters, and the white and blue color scheme? *sweet* Quote
Ras 74 Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Me to would like Anakins JSF from Clone Wars. Would be cool with Tiin M-F... maybe. I just think that he and the other GOOD Jedi Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 G its really fun to speculate on future sets :-P Now we have a better view on the Stormie Pack, and an approximatly vage view on that Droid pack (the real unknown is regarding the size of that Hailfire. I really wonder what will be in the Hoth one! I would imagine 4 figs + an extra thingie (like all previous MF packs) !! TLC never did a combination of Good vs. Evil in one pack (mind you, I left the Hoth Base out since its not regarded as a MF pack per se ) !! So could it be 4 snowies ?? That would be sweet BUT they wouldn't have that many rebels to shoot down :-P I really can't wait for more info and especially pics !! *yoda* Quote
SWMAN Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Cannot wait for these sets. Lego is really stepping it up. The only thing I want differently is instead of another Battle Droid BP, maybe a rebel or imperial one. Other than that, great sets. Quote
Sir von Lego Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Let's wait for pics AND the prices. I think that the new BP will be a bit more expensive because they will include more pieces. I don't hope that for sure..(-; The best set would be a set with only Imperial troupes..(-; But this won't happen... So, let's hope to see pictures soon..perhaps on the 1000steine-Land in Berlin in August? Quote
Eothein Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Hum, what troubles me is that is the "normal" (in Tiin's color) JSF and NOT Anie's custom one. I would think it would look way more like the following pic ;-) I really hope its that one that way meaner *wub* *yoda* That design is very nice, very mean and suits Anakin's grasp of technology and mechanics. Plus it looks very much like he starpped a pod racer to the bottom of it, plus it has the same colour scheme as his old pod. Although I feel sorry for R5 who is rather exposed to enemy fire. Quote

You know what, I never thought of that *wacko* Yeau its like a more modern supped up battle pod :-D Do you think that poor astromech is more exposed in the front rather than at the side ? *yoda* Quote
Joebot Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I think these new EU sets will be an interesting test for TLC. Is the blockbuster success of the Lego Star Wars line due to: A) the familiarity of the Star Wars brand and the iconic ships OR, B) good set design If it's A, then these sets will fail. I consider myself at least a mid-level Star Wars nerd, but I have no idea what "The Force Unleashed" is, who Juno Eclipse (Dumbest. Name. Ever.) is, or what any of these ships are. I bailed on the EU years ago, after the novels got really boring and repetitive. No 10-year-old boy (and let's be honest -- that's Lego core market) is going to know what any of that stuff is either. So, I guess the question is: Can Lego slap the "Star Wars" label on any piece of crap and expect to sell it in huge numbers??? Maybe. Maybe not. Should be interesting to see. Personally, I'm pretty lukewarm on the whole idea of EU sets. My interest in the Star Wars license has been waning anyway. Some cool new OT sets might have got me excited again, but a Juno Eclipse mini-fig?? Meh. Quote
DJSaulTNutz Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Let's wait for pics AND the prices. Prices I have, and set numbers if you are interested..... But the Anakin fighter is part of the new Clone Wars show...so it's something we haven't seen yet...although I am not a comic book or graphic novel reader when it comes to the EU. DJ Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Joebot, I think its a combination of your 2 points IMO ;-) Looking back at the '07 sets, TLC clearly worked really well on set designs, so I bet that the new Clone Wars and Frce Unleash sets will be amazing !! The question still remains: who will buy those ? AFOLs and SW nerds like me ? Definite yes !! As for kids (main market) I guess it will be a combination of iconic & design !! TLC never really did sets that were not iconic. From the clone Wars, Obie's JSF is really iconic and I bet it will be a best seller From FU, that *vader* 's apprentice ship is really mean looking and people always have a nice fascination for the Empire ships so it will sell well too IMO Anyhow, lets wait for pics to have a better vision of possible sales ;-) *yoda* Quote

The X-Wing fighter is a good example. It's a great set, and instantly recognizable by just about anyone with a passing knowledge of pop culture. But this past year gave us some weird sets, like the Imperial Landing Craft. I gotta pause my DVD to catch a glimpse of this ship since it's onscreen for about two seconds. Now with this EU stuff, there's not even that much! It just seems like Lego is veering away from the mainstream appeal, and is instead now going after the hardcore Star Wars fanboy. I guess that makes some sense 9 years into a licensing deal (has it really been that long?), when all the really obvious, popular sets have been made ... but it still seems kinda risky. Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Well, if you think about it, Lego has been going side-by-side with the movies from 2005-back. I can't remember a single non-4-5-6 set ever made in that timeframe. I think that these new sets are just doing justice to the line. Basically, Lego is making sets that are within 1-6 and are crucial to knowing what happens where. I don't see a 7-8-9 line, even if the movie came out next year. However, the reason they are doing this is to say, 'Hey, you, we're not leaving you out' They are just adapting to the present! ;-) Quote
Grand Moff Viceroy Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 iamded said if i got the sets i mentioned on page 11, he could get photos. Of course, but because only the droids battle pack is released in america, it will take time and i also need the 2008 pack. Also i hope it is released in january. Expect to see phots in january or february, ill start a new topic *vader* then Quote
Siegfried Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Prices I have, and set numbers if you are interested..... U da man! (Yes we are interested.) Quote
Clonie Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I wouldn't really call the new Hailfire Droid a Droid Battle Pack... Obviously the Hailfire Droid is the bulk of the set, with a few Extras. Quote

WookieeWarrior Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Perhaps this is testing the water for a bigger battleback (minifigs and a vehicle). I see this next year as a huge test for LEGO and what they want to do with the future of their Star Wars line (video games, tv shows, etc). Quote

It isn't a small box at all, like the current battlepacks....this is kind of a "super battle pack"... We are getting two of the small ones too as noted earlier (stormies & hoth). I have added a bit more detail to my last post.. DJ Quote
WookieeWarrior Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Okay, well that sounds like a great set. I know that I can speak for all of us when I say that we really appreciate this info you've given us. Hopefully not too many Bothan spies died delievering us this news. lol Quote
Legoman Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 DJSaulTNutz, you saw the sets right? will you ever see them again? if so any chance of pics, or, mabye some rough sizes would be cool too to get a feel for what we are getting.did you see the hoth pack or wasd that just said.thanks Quote
Piranha Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 (edited) *y* *y* Thankz for the news/update Some how I figured that the Rogue shadow would be 49.99USD Hmm so more than 500 pieces, large set then *sweet* Can't wait to see Pics Is there any prices for the Hoth and Stormie Battle packs?? The AT-TP walker must be bigger than I thought :-D I might have to buy that one Hmmm I might get Anakin's Fighter(maybe) I would rather get another Hail-fire droid pack though We need lots of spider droids too(I mean alot, legions, think of an invasivon or plauge of spider droids X-D ) You make me weep tears of joy :'-) *wub* Piranha Edited June 26, 2007 by Piranha Quote
