In addition to their news feed, the Brickset tab includes a simple search form to search against their database of over 8,000 sets for a quick reference look up. There’s also a flickr tab showcasing some of the top LEGO groups on flickr. For more information, please visit the Bricking News website."

    LEGO signs deal with NASA

    lego-shuttle-3_20101103114211_640_480.jpg

Thanks to grogall for the pictures

NASA and LEGO are partnering up to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)!

NASA will actually be launching a LEGO Space Shuttle into space!...along with the Shuttle Discovery, of course.

The official motto of the partnership is "Building and Exploring Our Future."

    From the official Press Release:

As part of the Space Act Agreement, NASA will send special LEGO sets to the International Space Station aboard shuttle Endeavour's STS-134 mission in February 2011. The sets will be assembled by astronauts on-orbit and by children and student groups across the country. The construction process and activities with the sets will demonstrate the challenges faced when building things in the microgravity environment of space.

Discuss this news here and thanks to grogall and Brothers Brick!

Edit by Hinckley: Apologies about the confusion over the source of this. I first read it on Brothers-Brick, but EB member grogall had posted the topic yesterday. Sorry!

    Creations for Charity 2010

    Hinckley
    By Hinckley,

    From EB member and

    Brothers-Brick contributor Nannan:

    Hello Eurobricks,

From now until early December, you can buy a custom Lego creation

made by Lego fans from around the world. All proceeds will be used to give Lego sets to underprivileged children during the holidays.

This is an annual opportunity where Lego enthusiasts use their creative hobby to support a great cause. As buyers,

you can own the original creations from a diverse array of builders and customizers,

several of whom are among the best at what they do.

    cfc2010.jpg

To get started, visit the store on Bricklink

to purchase a creation. Many of your questions can be answered there as well. Take a look at a sample

of what’s for sale below. More items will be constantly added throughout November, so check often!

    5121428141_45f25e5b4d.jpg

We accept creations for the fundraiser until December 1st.

We also accept monetary donations at the store.

For either form of donation over $50, you will receive an engraved Creations for Charity 2010

keychain assembled and glued by LEGO Certified Professional Sean Kenney

and topped with a real gold-plated Lego brick from ChromeBricks.

I sincerely hope you’ll take part in this event and help us set a new record.

You make a lot of kids happy. Merry Christmas!

. . . I will greatly appreciate it if you can spread the word. Thanks!

    Sad News

    Hinckley
    By Hinckley,

    (via

    The Brothers Brick)

"We regret to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Dan Jezek, owner and founder of BrickLink.com. Dan will be greatly missed by all of his family and many friends at Bricklink and around the world. A memorial fund is being set up and will be announced at a later date. If you wish to send condolences, you may do so via e-mail to condolences (at) bricklink.com."

Josh at Brothers Brick puts it best, I think:

"It is quite possible that there is no other person who has affected the Adult Lego Fan community as much as he did. The hobby would be much the same if any of the other fan sites had never existed ..., but the hobby would be a very different one if Bricklink had never been. We owe Dan an enormous debt of gratitude."
