WARHEAD Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) Man, I love the Mixel eye parts. Some of you may remember the first batch of these I posted last summer. I've been making a lot more of these lately and I feel there's visible improvement since the last bunch. All of these went together pretty quickly, when I had a sudden spark of inspiration. Now that I've run out of the eye parts again, I feel that I should make a small compilation of the figures again, so with no further delay, in order of construction: Orchideous - A plant monster guy who was built in less than an hour, for a quick build competition. This is the only creation here that's not assembled at the moment of posting this thread. Kekmor the Invader - A probe happy alien scientist. Doesn't really include Mixel eyes, but I feel that he fits with these guys quite nicely. :v Mr. Schnoz and his car - Just a monster and his car. My first attempt at both using the minifig heads with the eye prints and, perhaps more importantly, the giant Piraka playset mask part. This one was a very fun build. Gobbs the Brutalizer - A nasty goblin warrior, probably a low level dungeon boss or something. This one was intended to look much differently than what it ended up as, but I'm still very pleased with the end result. King Fuzzwuzzle III - Self explanatory. This one I'm probably the most proud of out the whole batch. The robes out of large Technic panels were pretty tricky to pull of and the arm holding the scepter was slapped on at the last minute but it went together pretty well, in my eyes. A Froobian Cosmonaut - This one came from me wanting to use those two canopy pieces to make the helmet of the spacesuit. The biggest challenge here was making a head small enough to fit inside the space while still being able to have a goofy expression. The first time I used Krana in a MOC, they were really helpful. I'm probably going to have to get some more of those sooner or later. Corvidarr the Greedy - This one was built just last night! Very inspired by The Four Horsemen's Gothitropolis Ravensand villains from 80s cartoons. So, that would be it for a while, or until I get some more parts with eye prints anyway. Thanks for taking a look and please leave your comments and criticsm, it is greatly appreciated! Edited January 8, 2015 by WARHEAD Quote
Zenerius Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Incredible part usage. You have quite the knack for making cool creatures! Hope to see more. Quote
Lady K Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Very cool. Mr Schnoz and his car and King Fuzzwuzzel III are my favorites. They have so much personality! You have talent in making these creatures come to life. Quote
Zerobricks Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 These are really amazing! All pieces used are Lego? Quote
Leewan Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 This is brilliant, WARHEAD, once again. My favorites are Gobbs, Fuzzwuzzle, and Corvidarr. How much time do you spend on each MOC ? Quote
WARHEAD Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) Thanks everyone! These are really amazing! All pieces used are Lego? All of these are 100% Lego! This is brilliant, WARHEAD, once again. My favorites are Gobbs, Fuzzwuzzle, and Corvidarr. How much time do you spend on each MOC ? I'd say 3-4 hours each? Definitely not more than that. Sometimes it's faster than that if I'm really inspired. Edited January 8, 2015 by WARHEAD Quote
Kalhiki Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 These are fantastic! I don't know if I've ever seen better parts usage on any MoC. They're all so cartoony and loveable. And that car is great (took me a while to realize what part you used). Quote
rodiziorobs Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Unbelievable, and I am awestruck by your clever usage of unusual parts. Bravo! Quote
LegendaryArticuno Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Wow these are all great! A+ for King Fuzzlewuzzle the Third, incredibly cute build. Quote
Leewan Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I'd say 3-4 hours each? Definitely not more than that. Sometimes it's faster than that if I'm really inspired. Oh, I was expecting more. But yes, inspiration makes things faster. What's your building method ? Do you pick a part (randomly or not) and say "I'm gonna make a MOC with it !" (which seems more or less to be what happened with the Froobian Cosmonaut's helmet), or "Hey, this could make a great [insert part of the MOC here] !", or do you rather decide to build a special character (a king, a punk, an "invader"...) first, and then choose the most appropriate parts to build it ? DuckBricks Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Brilliant. So many NPUs. my favorite has to be the Piraka gate car, now I need to put my Turaga Dume gateway head from the 2005 playlets to use like that... Quote
WARHEAD Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 Oh, I was expecting more. But yes, inspiration makes things faster. What's your building method ? Yeah, you've pretty much got it. I usually start with a face design and depending on the emotion and character it conveys I decide what kind of figure I want it to be. Sometimes I do start from a weird element, like the Piraka face, as a challenge, but usually it's just the parts that give me the shape I want, if you can understand what I mean in that garbled sentence. Thanks everyone! It means a lot to me that so many people enjoy my work. c: Quote
Leewan Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Cool, thank you ! I should try to build with Mixel eyes too, perhaps I could get interesting characters too... Quote
WARHEAD Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 Thought I'd make a quick bump with another one of these. It's meant to go along with Gobbs and Kekmor, might take a group pic of them sometime, they look really good together. Quote
