Marching rapidly, the Ulander thirteenth legion soon came into sight of the fortress they were after - a small castle some little distance from Ras-El-Akhen which supplied the city with grain and weapons. As the fiery bolts of Ageven's giant crossbow continued to play on the walls, the Ulanders begin to storm the breach through the cloud of arrows being shot by the defenders...

A close-up shot of the build:

And a bonus pic with part of Kai's crossbow:

This is my joint guerrilla attack on K12 with Kai NRG

I would like to receive UoP credit for:

History 1

Military Science - siege

Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!

Nice wall texturing and damage!

I agree however that the green plate looks out of place.

UoP +1 for Siege. I thought that the History category was supposed to show a series of events in the past and not the "present".

Very cool walls, nice job including an angled section  Is there a reason the Unlanders faces are blank :look:

I think this is my favorite build for Challenge IV that you've done yet :classic:

Nice work Garmadon, I really like the angled wall and the fire and smoke! :thumbup:I agree with Gideon about history, but +1 for siege! After your explanation, +1 for both credits.

Thanks all! @Ska, could you change the title to "Storming The Fortress"? I hope that the alterations in the story make it work as a guerrilla build

Great forced perspective on the last pic. Awesome build overall!

Thanks blufiji, I'm glad you like it!

Although it's against my team I give this a

Thanks! I think it shouldn't really matter whose team the build is for though!

Good scene. The Ulanders are posed well. And I second blufiji; the forced persoective of the last shot is well done!

Thanks! It was actually Kai's idea to keep the crossbow built for the pic

Nice scene- the wall is great. I'm not sure on the green plate though- perhaps dark tan or tan.

Thanks LV! Maybe tan would have been I good idea, but I wanted a color that contrasted a little more with the tan wall :classic:

Nice wall texturing and damage!

UoP +1 for Siege. I thought that the History category was supposed to show a series of events in the past and not the "present".

Thanks Gideon! According to the thread:

History - A special discipline, wherein you must build three MOCs depicting significant events in Kaliphlin's history (you make up the events, or use whatever existing history there is).

So I figured the Great Disturbance and Civil War would count :classic:

Nice work with the smoke and rubble filling for the wall

I am wondering how a flame breaks down walls of stone though :look:

Thanks LJ! True, true, I was wondering that myself  But seriously, I suppose that it was some sort of flaming missile - what kind of crossbow shoots flames anyways!?

Same remark on attacking cities in Guerilla builds as I said in Kai's post... Anyway, I do like the MOC you made!

Thanks Maxim! I have edited the story so that it hopefully fits the guerrilla idea a bit better

Thanks SK, it is my favorite build too! They all actually have faces, but were looking the other direction, and I hadn't realized that they all looked blank in the pics!

I love those crumbeling walls!!:wub:

Thanks dG!

Nice action going on here mate.. I like minifig posing and the gold details on the walls are great!

Thanks a lot Gunman, I'm glad you like it!

Nice work Garmadon, I really like the angled wall and the fire and smoke! I agree with Gideon about history, but +1 for siege!

Thanks Kai!

Nice build! I like the crumbling wall, and the forced perspective shot is really cool.

+1 for the siege credit.

As for the History credit, personally, I don't have a problem with the History category depicting present day events, so long as they could be considered historically important. However, it is one of the Content categories, so I'm going to grade it a bit tougher:

OK, basic mastery works for technique-related subjects, but how should I judge content-related subjects?

When building for the content-related subjects, students should ensure that the build fully explores the subject. Since these subjects are not testing mastery of a building technique, students need to demonstrate instead that they can create a build that represents a well-thought-out and fully realized scene concerning the subject. Reviewers should expect that the build does not just present a small, standard representation of the subject. Let's take the example of the crop-farming subject. Is it enough to show a farmer tending to a single plant? Perhaps, if the plant and scene were really exceptional, but most likely not. How about a row of crops, with a farmer and a scarecrow? That's getting better, and if very well done, it could be approved. How about several rows of different types of crops, with several farmers doing different tasks (one weeding, one harvesting, one planting), a scarecrow, a farm cart and horse, a barn, and some good landscaping. Assuming the build quality is good, that is definitely a well-thought out build that well represents the subject, and would be easily approved.

I don't think the story is of "suitable length and quality" (part of the subject description) for the credit, and while only two of the three History MOCs have to show at least three builds or points in time, one angle of a single moment of a single build doesn't really fit the spirit of the category, for me.

That said, I think it would be a stellar component of a more in-depth History topic! :classic:

Thanks Sarah, I understand about the history credit! I'll see if I might be able to include it with another more comprehensive Kaliphlinian history build :classic:

Countered! A Nasty Surprise

Bah! A second wall won't baffle a bunch of Ulanders! We're sure to find a way over under or through it! (Or actually I suppose we could just climb the first wall and shoot all your puny archers down! :sweet::laugh:)
