Brainbox Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 (edited) Recently, I seem to have ended up building a large number of Bat-MOCs. So I decided I'd collect them all together in an ongoing thread that'll be updated as long as I have new MOCs coming in in the near future. Then of course, once I decided to do a goody-bag, the number of MOCs increased exponentially as I decided I wanted to cater for everyone's tastes. There really is something for everyone (though don't point it out if there isn't), but it won't be posted all at once. There're MODs, minifigs, minifig MOCs, mini/micro models, Vigs, the works. Today, I'll be presenting Part 1. This consists of: a Mini Batmobile, a vig, two mini-vigs, a Batmobile, and three figs. OK, here we go: Mini Batmobile Based on the Batmobile from the 60s TV series (which I'm enjoying watching on BBC4 on Tuesdays and Thursday, btw), this is actually my second mini-BM. I'm quite pleased with it actually. 1, 2, 3 Gallery Vignette Based on that scene/panel from Batman: Knightfall. Come on, you know which one I mean. (And you get a free shot of some foliage outside my window :-D ) 1 Gallery Mini-Vigs Won't bother explaining these, just go here to see them. Catwoman Nice and simple, Catwoman gets hair. From her appearance in Batman: Hush, btw. Batman #666 Designed as a follow-up to Batman & Son, Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert shifted the action 15 years into the future, with Damien Wayne taking up the mantle of the Bat following Bruce's death. He is faced by a changing world, a world shifting ever closer to an apocalypse... Batman He actually wears a dark grey trenchcoat with scalloped tails, and his collar is a bit smaller, but this is close enough for me to care. It looks cool anyway. X-D Barbara Gordon Now Police Commissioner, Barbara Gordon is the only member of the GCPD who doesn't like the Batman. Those are treads/tracks on the chair, btw. Her coat should be dark green, but again, close enough. 1, 2 Gallery when public Batmobile Now, bear in mind, we only see this in one panel (the image can be seen here), so I took a few creative liberties on it, especially at the back. Bear in mind also that Batman fitted in with both capes the other week when I actually built the MOC, but wouldn't today... *wacko* 1, 2, 3, 4 Gallery when public Coming soon, Bat-Tank, Batcopter, Scarecrow plane MODs and Riddler jetpack MODs; a Bat-glider based on the one from Batman: Year One; Batcave MOC/MOD version 2 (not yet finished); some Lego comicbook art and hopefully a large Arkham (not yet started). EDIT: See part 2 here. Go. Now. ;-) Edited October 16, 2007 by Brainbox Quote
casewindu Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Very creative Brainbox! my favorite is probably Barbara Gordon, i am not a big fan of batman so why does she nt like him? your two bat mobiles are also very cool! ;-) Quote
Brainbox Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 Very creative Brainbox! my favorite is probably Barbara Gordon, i am not a big fan of batman so why does she nt like him? She likes him now, when Bruce Wayne is Batman, but she doesn't like Damian. It doesn't explicitly state the reason in the comic, but she says that "[Damian] caused the death of... a good friend." Presumably, he had some sort of role in Bruce's death. your two bat mobiles are also very cool! ;-) Thank you. Quote
Vader Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Sweet bat moc's again mate, as a fan of Knightfall i just love the Bane vig *wub* All you need is a large 'Crack' sound and it would be complete :-) Quote
Asuka Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Very nice, especially your microscaled Batmobile and that interesting Numbers of the Beast Batmobile. *y* Quote

The pic I used as reference had a 'KRAKT' so I used that instead. I may be a bit hard to make out on my pics though, because of the black letters. Very nice, especially your microscaled Batmobile and that interesting Numbers of the Beast Batmobile. *y* Thanks. It's funny, everywhere I've seen something about Batman #666, it's been credited under a different title *wacko* . I don't think anyone actually knows what it is. The closest thing I can find in my copy is 'Batman in Bethlehem.' Quote
Batbrick Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 These are great Brainbox! A good idea too, that you put them in one post, as opposed to creating a topic for each! ;-) I love the 60's Batmobile, so simple yet so cool! nanananananana BATMAN! *sing* The best one though is definitely "The Broken Bat" Knightfall scene with Bane. "I will BREAK you!" :-D It is good to see that the size of Bane in lego (with Batman being bigger than him |-/ ) doesn't desintegrate the effect. Can't wait to see part 2! *sweet* Up and Atom! :-) Quote
Siegfried Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Great work. I especially love the "break you" vig. I want Bane so much, but he costs too much. :'-( I hope he comes out as a magnet... Reading the stories highlights how behind I am in Batman. I hope the "Bruce is dead" angle is just for one story... 8-| Thanks for posting! Quote
Brainbox Posted September 26, 2007 Author Posted September 26, 2007 Thanks *yoda* , Sinner and Batbrick. Too bad my comic knowledge (and especially lack of) prevents me to fully comprehend them |-/ The nightfall vig is really sweet and you can feel the pain in that one X-D I wasn't really expecting many people to have a knowledge of Batman #666, but I thought I'd MOC some stuff from it anyway. I picked it up a few weeks ago in Forbidden Planet in Manchester, as it was a standalone sotry which wouldn't require me to get anymore. Tht'd be pretty difficult unless I subscribed through somewhere, since nowhere near me sells comics. It doesn't really detract too much from the MOCs though. Tks for sharing and show us more ;-) The MODs (barring Batcave) should be up soon, as they're all done. I've not photographed them. A good idea too, that you put them in one post, as opposed to creating a topic for each! ;-) Yeah, I felt that it would be a waste of time to post them all separately, both from the POV of people commenting and from my POV in a time sense. That, and I just liked the idea of a 'goody-bag.' Can't wait to see part 2! *sweet* Same here ;-) I hope the "Bruce is dead" angle is just for one story... 8-| It is. Morrisn just shifted the time for a one-off. We're back in the normal era now. Thanks for posting! You're quite welcome. Quote
Batbrick Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Thanks *yoda* , Sinner and Batbrick. Yay! I got a mention! *sweet* I personally don't care for stories like Batman 666, but the Bane one you made is excellent! Hope to see another iconic scene in part 2, maybe one from The Killing Joke? Up and Atom! Quote
Siegfried Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 It is. Morrisn just shifted the time for a one-off. We're back in the normal era now. Ahhh. Thanks for that. Much of my interest in Batman is with the Bruce/Batman dyanamics. Thus I get grumpy whenever any part of that is changed. I especially hate it when movies imply Bruce has got over his past. :-| Quote

Up and Atom? :-) Quote
Siegfried Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Did you enjoy Batman begins then Sinner? It was OK, but not the "Batman Year One" movie that was implied at first. There were too many aspects I didn't like and I find it a hard movie to watch without hitting the ole fast forward button. What don't I like? 1. Ninjas; The movie implies that Batman is a ninja with bonuses. I don't like that. The classic story was that he learnt from many, and while this version still allows for that, it implies that he was lost until he trained as a ninja. 2. Repetition of lines; "Mind Your surroundings", "Why do we fall down", "judge me by my actions" that kind of stuff. Works well in moderation only. 3. The assistant DA; Cute, but way too young. 4. Genesis Story; Why waste half the movie on this? I can go on but I won't. For me the best movies are still the Tim Burton ones. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Very nice! I never really was into Batman, but these look amazing. Quote
Brainbox Posted September 29, 2007 Author Posted September 29, 2007 (edited) Thanks Thok. Hope to see another iconic scene in part 2, maybe one from The Killing Joke? I was thinking of doing another 'comic scene' for a later part (2 or 3), but honestly, The Killing Joke hadn't occured to me. Thanks for the idea, I may have to try it. jedikermit Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I love your solution for Barbara Gordon's chair...I've been waiting on making an Oracle minifig until I can make a satisfactory wheelchair for her. Because right now, mine...sucks. Nice to see something a little different. Quote

I might try a more classic 'now' design, seeing as how this is a tracked design from the future, and put it in a later update. Thanks, though. Bat-MOC part 2 will be up soon, I promose. I'll probably put it in this thread, unless you'd all reather it went in another. I actually found time to photograph the next batch of stuff th other day, but the rather dismal weather outside meant I couldn't seem to get very good lighting. I'll try again tomorrow. Quote

Hinckley Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Bat-MOC part 2 will be up soon, I promose. I'll probably put it in this thread, unless you'd all reather it went in another. I'd encourage you to start a new thread...put a link in the first post to this one. Like Batbrick said, some people might ignore this as it has had quite a bit of activity. I can't wait to see the new stuff!! *sweet* Quote
Brainbox Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 (edited) Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Okay, a new thread it is then. I've got the photography done, and I'm just about to start editing and uploading. Expect Bat-Moc 2 momentarily... Right, it's up. Edited October 16, 2007 by Brainbox Quote
