Captain Braunsfeld Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) Victory is ours! Long and hard was the fight against the Algus. Many different ways were conceived to beat them but none really worked totally well - until today. Until Samuel Marron realized that all the different tactics had to be combined! You need the fire of the Mitgardian Dragon.... ("I love the smell of dragon fire in the morning") ... guided by magic rabbit gloves... ... with the helpful addition of burning Kaliphlinian oil... .. the magic of the Rainbow Spell ... .. and the freshness of the Mitgardian apple barrage... .. to defeat the Algus! And so it came that in the Battle of Green Field the Algus were utterly destroyed. None of them escaped. Under the force of the combined Mitgardian attack the power of the Algus waned, the cold disappeared, their snow melted, their bodies dissolved. So, the weather forecast was bad ... for the Algus. The End. Larger versions on flickr. There is a prequel showing where the Rainbow Spell came from. And there is a sequel showing the victory party. C&C welcome! One addition: As we have to show how the Algus change the weather, here is "WALK LIKE AN ALGUSSIAN": In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 9 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now! 10) The Victory Party Edited January 1, 2019 by Captain Braunsfeld (pictures now on Bricksafe instead of flickr) Quote
KlodsBrik Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 This is awesome. Delightful colours and great take on the category. Also the rainbow attack from the wizard is topnotch. Not to mention the dragons. I like it a lot !! Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Haha! All hail the magic rabbit gloves! Quote
Jacob Nion Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I don't know what to say. There's so much going on to enjoy. It reminds me somehow of The Beatles' Yellow Submarine, I'm sure Algus couldn't stand the power of music and would flee in panic like a bunch of blue meanies (he, in some way they are blue meanies). Great and colourful scene with a lot of creativity. And those rabbit gloves are as cute as always. Quote
Gideon Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Very nice, seems like the Algus are vunerable to the joy of building I like the rainbow spell a lot! Quote

Great and colourful scene with a lot of creativity. And those rabbit gloves are as cute as always. You are right, there is some Yellow Submarine -inspiration behind this. Lovely! I really like it Me too Very nice, seems like the Algus are vunerable to the joy of building I like the rainbow spell a lot! Great that you like the rainbox spell! Wow! RAINBOW MAGIC!!! Very neat how you did that! By the way, congratulations one competing in all tree catgories! RAINBOW MAGIC - this is indeed the key to success! Very creative! That rainbow is especially nice.... Thanks ... I thought of doing one scene where a scroll with the rainbow spell is being discovered. But then I wanted to have everything in one MOC. Quote
Simon_S Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Haha, I can't stop laughing . Great job all around! Quote

Blufiji Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Seems that you have to love them to death haha. Quote
LittleJohn Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Haha, excellent and very creative entry! Those dragons are fantastic and I really like the melting snow Quote
soccerkid6 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Very humorous build with lots of fun action going on I like how you portrayed the Algus and their 'island' of cold midst the onslaught of attacks. The dragons are my favorite part Quote
SarahJoy Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 This one would definitely win "Most Whimsical"! I like the idea that, even in these times of turmoil and civil wars, the most effective solution is to band together to vanquish the greater enemy. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 Seems that you have to love them to death haha. Maybe. Haha, excellent and very creative entry! Those dragons are fantastic and I really like the melting snow Thanks. Me too Very humorous build with lots of fun action going on I like how you portrayed the Algus and their 'island' of cold midst the onslaught of attacks. The dragons are my favorite part I had the dragons ready early on before the contest. I just needed something weird where they would fit in. This one would definitely win "Most Whimsical"! I like the idea that, even in these times of turmoil and civil wars, the most effective solution is to band together to vanquish the greater enemy. Yepp, that is something like the idea behind it. This is also why I have the minifigs from previous Algus MOCs reappearing, as they continue to work and fight together. I am surprised that noone has commented on the movie reference in "AppleCalypse" so far. I have even downloaded the "correct" font for the first pic. Nobody here to remember that movie? Captain Dee, come up and say something! Quote
Captain Dee Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) *GULP* Sir yes sir I'll get right on it sir! This is a very nice colorful lively scene - especially after seeing so much ice and snow! It seems they've all banded together to "terminate with extreme prejudice." I don't know how dragon-breath smells, but "I love the smell of napalm in the morning." Excellent tie-in, and very good job integrating so many humorous parts into one build. The dragons are cute and the rainbow spell is cool, but the apple-launchers are my favorite part. Whew. Close call. Did I pass or fail? Edited December 18, 2015 by Captain Dee Quote

Captain Dee Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Total coincidence, I promise - just like the timing of this post. Yesterday I just happened to randomly check this topic after your last message and today I'd just left a reply elsewhere when I saw you'd just posted a reply here so I had to check it out. Funny how it worked out! Quote

Umbra-Manis Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Beautiful build all around! No magic monkeys? Quote
Captain Dee Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 "Walk like an Algussian"? Please don't do that again - I nearly choked on my Pepsi! Dragon-taming would make for an interesting scene, but they're so cute they look harmless. I'm all for the magic monkey idea too! Quote
