Iria Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) Hi Everyone. This thread is to share my Elves’ theme MODs and MOCs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Index of MOC/Ds: - Clicking on the image will redirect you to the post. Newest additions (as of Aug'16): Older: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have several creations & modifications, but I’ll start off with my biggest mod yet: The expanded Mysterious Sky Castle. The first castle of the Elves theme is quite beautiful, but was a bit too cramped for my liking. I started off by doubling the floor space. This was a rather easy modification to do. All you need is some plates, a few extra tan bricks and whatever else you want to add to the new space. If you have the castle, I definitely recommend widening the castle. After that I decided to add a new floor, which I placed below the existing ones. I incorporated the rockwork, and lava/waterfalls from the Elves Spa and Bakery sets. More to come! KlodsBrik Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 These are looking quite nice. I love all the colours ! Quote
Iria Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 Some trees of Elvendale... Modifications to 'Farran and the Crystal Hollow' set to make the tree more full. I hope to create a moc sometime that better depicts the Sparkle Rock from the Elves shows. These are looking quite nice. I love all the colours ! Thank you! I tried to keep it as colourful and symmetrical as possible. Great job, can't wait for more! <3 Thanks, I'll get some more up soon. Quote
OmShanti Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 This looks great! The castle is really spectacular! Just wish I could view the photos larger to see the detail (but they are private). Quote
Iria Posted January 16, 2016 Author Posted January 16, 2016 My first Elves moc - Aira's pegasus chariot. I still don't have the Pegasus Sleigh set, so I have to make do with this: This looks great! The castle is really spectacular! Thank you! Just wish I could view the photos larger to see the detail (but they are private). Ooops. Thanks for letting me know. Photos are now set to public. Quote
OmShanti Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I actually quite like your chariot, it's wonderful. It would fit in great in Elvendale, it definitely looks like something Aira would build herself. I love those wheels, which reminds me that I need to pick up that Cinderella's Carriage set before it's gone. I love how Plumy is perched on top just riding along with Aira. Quote
Aanchir Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Oh wow, those two set mods look amazing! You really added a lot to them, but managed to keep the additions from feeling tacked-on, cluttered, or out-of-place. The pegasus chariot is also pretty cute, though if there were some wings on the side of the chariot it might feel a bit more flightworthy — as it is, it doesn't feel very aerodynamic, unlike the sleigh which has a lot more curves. Thank you Aanchir. Good suggestion about adding a second pair of wings to the chariot. I agree that it doesn't look like it could fly as it is, with only those tiny wings on the pegasus. Quote
MrFishboy11 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Love these MODS and MOCS! Do you think you could check out my post in Licensed forum about modding Cinderellas castle set? I would really love your input and advice! Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Looks great and can't wait for more! Quote
Iria Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 Mod: Naida's Spa Secret. Alternate views of the spa: The first is the Spa with extra foliage, and removal of the harsh magenta bricks: This one below has been rearranged to be part of the entrance way to Skyra's Castle. The dolphin is a statue that overhangs the waterfall. MOC: Elves Prison. This is a contribution from my boyfriend, who build this while I was modifying the castle. Holds max.1 elf. Currently Azari is housed inside. Maybe she was caught setting too many fires? Quote
Iria Posted February 1, 2016 Author Posted February 1, 2016 (edited) New MOC: Sparkle Rock. This moc is based off of the Elves mini-movie, which had the earth key hidden within 'Sparkle Rock'. Source material: Side views: Sparkle Rock at 'night': Edited February 1, 2016 by Iria Quote
OmShanti Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Oh my, it's so lovely Iria. I like it much better than the Crystal Hollow Lego set intended to signify Sparkle Rock. The addition of Sparkle Rock at night is a wonderful touch, I quite like how the pieces appear to be glowing. I'm a big fan of your mocs and mods, you're an amazing builder. P.S. Only one of the images opens to full size. Quote
FortNerd Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 That is amazing Are those glow in the dark pieces? Quote

Actually the pieces are just regular trans pieces that are excited by UV/black light. So far I know of four trans colours that light up under black light: Trans med blue, neon orange, neon green and bright green. (And of course regular glow-in-the-dark lights up well too under UV light). They are a lot of fun to play with. Quote

Lovely mocs by the way - I especially like Sparkle Rock when it's all lit up like that! Quote
Exetrius Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I should get myself a blacklight.. like, RIGHT NOW! Really, it looks wonderful Quote
Iria Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 Hi all. I've been modifying all of my recent purchases. Here are the results: 'Sira's Skyship'. This one is actually a modified Ninjago set (Raid Zeppelin). A nicely designed set in itself, but it does clash with the rest of my Lego collection. I wanted a skyship for the air loving, earth elf Sira. My aim was to make the ship look alive with foliage and other vegetation. I replaced the computer console with an old fashion map of Elvendale. Next up, a slightly modified School of Dragons. The main change is the completion of an actual tree. I feel like Lego tends to fall short on their tree designs, especially this set in particular. I don't like the new large magenta leaf pieces, so I went with tradition green. A less obvious modification is the spacing in between the school and the tree. I expanded it, making the stream larger. If you own the set, you'll notice that Miku and his swing and up crashing into the tree/building when he reaches the end of his ride down the zip line. Expanding the spacing solved this issue, and make Miku on the swing more displayable. Finally, a modified Treetop Hideaway. (I finally got this set a year after release :). My goal of course was to give the tree a greater foliage density. Building the set, I realized that the set does come with a decent supply of leaves. However it still felt like there was a gap around the right tree. I still have some ideas for modification to this set with respect to the base. Some spots seem awkward, like the cooking fire adjacent to a tree, and a straight steam flowing over the grass. Hopefully I'll get to those mods over the weekend. Quote
SWNELoveAngel Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Yeah, I've noticed that the way that the instructions have you build the Lego Elves' Treetop Hideaway doesn't match how it looks in the mini movie or webisodes at all either. So I've bought two of the set, and am still in the process of determining how many additional pieces are needed to expand it more. Because instead of being two separate trees, it's really one with a large circle in the main base of the trunk [or trunks] of the tree. It's a bit fun to work on figuring out how to expand the building of it. And searching for examples of how to make trees differently with Lego pieces, too. Same with most of the other sets as well. I really like what you've built so far, and look forward to seeing what else you're inspired to build with the Lego Elves sets. Quote
OmShanti Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 I really like what you've done with the Dragon School, it looks much better with all that foliage and space for Miku to play. I like how you've modified the Raid Zeppelin to build Sira's Airship. The crystal on the back is a nice touch. It looks like it's powered by crystals in the mini movie, there are a bunch on the back. Iria Posted August 5, 2016 Author Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) MOCS for dragons! A mountain perch for Marina, the water dragon: Marina is fierce, and a little bat-like in appearance sometimes. Thorne meets a new elf named Melphis (her paint job is still not quite done yet.) Is baby dragon Miku going to the dark side? He is sitting on a dark throne. The crazy colour scheme was inspired by Ragana's Shadow Castle. Edited August 5, 2016 by Iria Quote
Iria Posted August 5, 2016 Author Posted August 5, 2016 The newly released Precious Crystal Mine set is so wonderful that I just wanted it to be longer. So I've built a new development to the mining operation, featuring an underground resident of Elvendale. Dwarf mine Quote
eve nightfall Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I absolutely love your creations with the elven theme! I have to visit your thread often to get some inspirations. Love your trees and all the flowers! The skyship looks great although I think the "white parts of the Balloon from the friends series would fit a little bit better. But it would need 2 sets of it plus the Ninjago set ... I am tempted ... Perhaps in a big sale ... Quote

I was thinking about using some non-permanent paint on the balloon pieces of the sky ship since the light brown is a little bland. I bet using white balloon pieces would really make the sky ship foliage look vibrant. Quote
