Mike S Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 (edited) This is the last day MRCA forms can be filled out for January, I believe, so if you are joining one of the following convoys, please post in my January MRCA Escorted Trade runs thread so that we make sure everyone gets added to the convoy (you will still have to fill out the MRCA form but this way you will know what other ships to add to your trade run): Route A - The Risky Route (speed 3 ships only) - Escorted by Pandora, Mermaid Black Marlin The Sphinx The Swift Packet The Knight of Stedor Scarst's ship (full) Route B - The less risky route (speed 3 ships only) - Escorted by Queen's Glory, Dark Lightning Sulky Harlequin Green Dragon Stubborn Stern (2 slots left?) Route C - Somewhat risky route (speed 2 ships only) - HMS Alice Flying Colt (full) Also be sure to communicate with those joining the same convoy as you to form flotillas within the escort to make your fleet even stronger! Also if Eslandola is sending any escorts along, please post their names as well. Edited January 30, 2016 by Mike S Quote
Bregir Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 The Sphinx shall gladly join you for the risky journey. Ibn al'Sayeed Captain OOC: Am I right in assuming that both runs are for speed 3 vessels? Quote
Mike S Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 OOC: Am I right in assuming that both runs are for speed 3 vessels? Yes, speed 3 vessels only... Quote
SkaForHire Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 The Swift Packet will run the risky route, and Admiral Woodbrose has suggested to the Minister of the Navy that two Corrington warships accompany the risky journey, while one convoys the less risky. Unless, we have some Corrington traders who are only sail 2, then, if they want to convoy, we would probably want to assign a warship to them. Quote
blackdeathgr Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 What about Oleander ships? Any brave merchant (pfff) that wants to make a run or two, shall also have the protection of our mighty warships! Don't be shy, adventure calls :) Quote

MKJoshA Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Yes, yes! Please group all your ships together. It makes it easier to loot you when you are all lined up nicely for the pirates. Quote
Maxim I Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 The Knight of Stedor wants to join the risky route :) if already full, then the other one :) Quote
Garmadon Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Yes, yes! Please group all your ships together. It makes it easier to loot you when you are all lined up nicely for the pirates. Is somebody forgetting that if they are all together you pirates will be facing like nine Heavy Sloop escorts before you can even get to them? Quote

Garmadon Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 May the odds be ever in our favor. And may the winds be forever blowing you the wrong way... unless you want to meet our pirate hunters or something Quote
dr_spock Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) Is it going to be like one of these but on water? Edited January 29, 2016 by dr_spock Quote
Captain Dee Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 As you wish. That was a great scene. Will there be R.O.U.Ss in BOBS? Quote
SilentWolf Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Wouldn't the 2F be the only free vessel that travels at a speed 3 leaving the rest of us running alone? Quote
dr_spock Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Wouldn't the 2F be the only free vessel that travels at a speed 3 leaving the rest of us running alone? Yup, it is the fastest class 1 or 2 ship. If you want to have a floatilla then the fastest ships will have to go at the speed of the slowest ship. I don't think we would mind too much if a floatilla getting separated out due to speed differences. Quote
Mike S Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 I can add another trade run for the speed 2 ships. There are quite a few speed 2 ships and I would encourage you to convoy together. However since both of my ships are speed 3, I'm trying to put together a convoy for them to travel with. Quote
Vedauwoo Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) I may be wrong....but from what I understand "speed" does not effect how the ships travel from port to port.....but dictates the number of ports they may visit and is also used as a modifier in whether or not it can "outrun" a predator... Is that right? Like I said, I could be wrong....but that is the way I understood it. Edited January 29, 2016 by Vedauwoo Quote

Is that right? Like I said, I could be wrong....but that is the way I understood it. You are correct. Because speed 3 ships can visit an extra port, it would be a waste for them to travel with speed 2 ships as the cargo modifier could be lowered by as much as 150 DBs by not being able to use the third port stop. Quote
SkaForHire Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 On a game play note, the 2T does bring in 10% more treasure per stop. It is better for the safer, big haul routes in my opinion. However, I am already considering a retool of the class "trader" to hull higher percentages, or to raise the price on "fast" ships. The math makes the fast ships better at this point, but that doesn't make too much sense, either cargos will have to be changed, or prices significantly lowered. If it is a major retooling of the entire system after we try the MRCA, everybody who has bought a licences (one person cough cough) will be refunded their money so they can buy the appropriate license, or we will grandfather the few vessels that were bought into the system until they sink. Sorry, just throwing some ideas out there, and promising to give trade ships some more love later on. Quote

Sorry, just throwing some ideas out there, and promising to give trade ships some more love later on. One person!?! Who could that person be....Do we not need licences to go on the MCRA? Not having the encounter/distance charts, it is not wasy to know how the distance modifier works. But it is more exiting, and I think it is better to let us discover it through MCRA. But the balance of the game must be adressed (which you do now). I think umphing up the % of the hulls would be the most fair way to do it, but we have to watch out for inflation. So in the long run, a refund (possibility to move the free licence, combined with some adjustment of the prices may be the way to go. Given this new information (it must be the distance modifier that makes the difference in favor of fast ships), the one person that have licenced a ship is considering to post his/her cutter and move the free licence... Maxim I Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 The one person who actually paid for his license. Wasn't the question retorical as the only person paid for a licence is Mike and everybody knows it is him? :p Quote
Sir Stig Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 The one person who actually paid for his license. Ah, of course. Not only registered a free licence. I was not thinking clearly If any steps are taken to tweak the balance, I would like to know. Quote
