When I saw that Chima Elephant set coming out, it was immediately clear to me what I had to build out of it:

"Sir Archibald's Wonderous Wandering Mechanical Steam Elephant"

The Steam Elephant allows comfortable travel through all kinds of terrain.

Additionally, it is well-armed.

Inside the Elephant the modern traveller will find a luxurious sofa and a grammophone, accompanied with a great record collection.

Larger (and more) pictures can be found on flickr.

(And, yes, I have read Jules Verne. Many times.)

:sweet: :sweet: :sweet:

C&C welcome!

Very nice steampunk take on this set Capt B, it certainly looks a ton better than the original! Awesome work for a first steampunk MOC too, if there's one particular thing I have to point out it would be that gate piece on the side - it just looks wonderful there for some reason!:wink::thumbup:

Looks great really had to look at the pictures twice to see all the detail. Keep up the good work.

Thank you!

Really looks great!

I agree

Steampunk has to have strange gold pieces in strange places

This elephant is great! Now we're traveling in style.

Yepp, style and luxury!

I've never been a fan of steampunk just because the sci-fi aspect is lost on me. But there have been some neat projects nonetheless and this is one of them. In fact this is one of the better ones I've seen. It's obviously an elephant (no explanation needed!) and I've rather enjoyed looking at all it's bodily features replicated in this manner. The colorscheme is nice, although I suppose that's typical for the genre. The whole thing is really good, but I epecially like the tusks for some reason. The interior features are nice too, and I see you've found a fitting use for the Abe Lincoln hat/hair. And yes, it is very well-armed.

Cool project all in all. Good work. :classic:

P.S. Next I want to see a steampunk :monkey: !!

Yes, it is an elephant.

And, yes, steampunk demands this type of colour scheme

Great built!. I love the way one can open it and play inside. And does it have a couch in there, did I see that right on the flickr picture?

The window is a good thought as well. I mean, who would want to travel in a steam elefant all in the dark ...

Sir Archibald is super steam-punky too. And they type face, and the way its presented... really gorgeous.

Thanks a lot.

Yes, there is a red couch included, and a grammophone. :sweet:

The type face? You mean the font? I was lucky to find a free steam-punky font on the net.

This is a beautiful transformation of the model! So much better than the original!

Thanks - yepp

Good show old chap. I like the integrated window in the back a lot. All around interesting MOC with a great execution! Not enough steampunk animals if you ask me

Nice! This looks a lot better than the Chima set.

I don't really build Steampunk myself but I always enjoy looking at other peoples builds. The TIE cockpits work really well on the sides of this and I always appreciate detailed interiors.

Well done!

Thanks - based on Jules Verne's story the elephant is an obvious steampunking animal. It will be more difficult with other types of beasts.

Thumbs up Captain! Great work with the choice of colours and engines.

Thanks a lot!

Nicely done, and good work on the interior detail. Makes me want to revisit my current sets to do some Steampunkification. :-)

Yes, go! And have fun! :sweet:

Thank you - I'll include more interior shots in my next build.

This is awesome.

While i feel the proportions is a bit of, i know its an mech elephant. So it was probably engineered to look this way !

However i love the steampunk work all in all, and its definatelty a new approach afaik.

Great job indeed !

Well, the proportions are in principle the same as for the Chima thing - and to me they look ok.

Thanks for the praise. And I would like to see more steampunk MOCs here.

Great steampunk elephant - I like it!

Thank you. Maybe I need to do another steampunk animal (but I would not know how a steampunk monkey would work out).

TLG has a "metal monkey" out as part of the new sets, but it seems a bit strange to me.
