The Alchemyst Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) Well, it's pretty obvious there's a large amount of dislike towards Bionicle in most of the AFOL group. I grabbed the new Bionicle Movie that came out, less than a week ago. Inside was an advertisement for a Lego Movie called "The Adventures of Clutch Powers". It's coming out in "Spring 2010". It has Clutch with Agent Chase hair, a modern smile, baggy brown jacket, white T-shirt torso and jeans. From the ad in the movie I saw last night, It's a mixture of a bunch of the themes. He drives the Car from Turbocar Chase. There's elements of Space in it. Power Miners is in it for sure. And there's a cityscape. The story seems to be vague at best, he has to save the world with 3 of his friends. There's elements of Lego Humor with the girl bringing "Extra Hair" because "A girl's gotta be prepared" and so forth. As far as I know, it's probably Direct-to-DVD, and made by Tinseltoon Town; who animated the Bionicle Movie. Since I know none of you bought the movie, I think you guys would like to know. EDIT 9/22/09: Flickr video of super low quality version. And some of you are probably gonna go nuts, but guys... It's a Kids' Movie. :P [-TA-] Edited September 23, 2009 by The Alchemyst Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Interesting... sounds like an ad in movie form. Quote
Svelte Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Sounds interesting! Can't wait to see a trailer. Quote
just2good Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 I'll rent it, but if it comes with a polybag set, I'll get it.... ^^ Quote
The Alchemyst Posted September 21, 2009 Author Posted September 21, 2009 Sounds interesting! Can't wait to see a trailer. I wish I knew how to extract it or something. I'll try popping it into the DVD drive or something. =/ Any tips guys? [-TA-] Quote

[-TA-] I set up my camera in front of the TV and run the DVD. The quality is bad, but it's better than nothing. Quote
Corvus Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 I saw it, and it looked great. Maybe a giant LEGO ad, but then, they all are. If this is THE lego movie, I'm just glad I didn't see any live action. Quote
tedbeard Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 I've seen that trailer about six times since I bought my kids Bionicle 4 on Friday. (I still have not made it more than 20 minutes into the Bionicle Movie itself.) It does indeed say it will be a direct to DVD release. Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 If this is THE lego movie, I'm just glad I didn't see any live action. "The LEGO Movie" hasn't even started writing a script yet nevermind film it. Plus it's already known that movie will be a mix of live action and CGI. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Sounds cool. I hope it does come with a set/series of sets. I will likely get it cheap in a supermarket if it doesn't. Quote
The Alchemyst Posted September 23, 2009 Author Posted September 23, 2009 Well, I uploaded a low quality camera-on-screen version of the ad, I had to stick headphones at max volume near the old-ish camera. =/ The flickr page. I do have a camcorder, but that's even older, and saves on tape. =/ I'll see if it's possible to transfer to computers using that. If so, there'll be a better quality-ish version up soon. Or if anyone has some extraction thing or idea like that, feel free. [-TA-] Quote

ILikePi Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) There's also a blog post on The Brothers Brick with a picture of a poster. For a kids movie that will probably be rated PG (cartoon violence ), it looks like it's going to be pretty good. Edited September 23, 2009 by ILikePi Quote

Couldn't Lego could get sued for that; unless they've cut out a deal with Lucasarts. Quote

There are slight variations, like the non-fleshy skin. I also doubt there would be a problem of using a LEGO-made interpretation of a non-distinctive jacket and top that probably weren't copyrighted by Lucsarts anyway. Quote
Xenophilius Studz Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Well, I'm not sure what to think of a minifig named 'Clutch Powers', but the movie looks pretty good. It features several sets and themes from LEGO. I might have to rent it sometime to see what its like when it comes out. Quote
legomilk Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 New in 2010 Lego movie More on this site http://brick.jamescook.nu/?p=934 Quote
Big Cam Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) I know this is a global site, but I think the accepted default language is English. I can't read any of the link except 1st LEGO DVD movie. On that note, I just discovered an existing thread on this topic. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=33632 Edited September 23, 2009 by Big Cam Quote
Commander Assassin Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 New in 2010 Lego movieMore on this site http://brick.jamescook.nu/?p=934 There is? Really? Check The Adventures of Clutch Powers. Quote
Zarkan Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Hey, this sounds pretty cool, actually. I was fairly impressed by the new Bionicle movie, and so I'd probably be willing to at least rent another lego movie made by them. Plus, the name Clutch Powers reminds me so much of the character names in the Lego Island PC games, which if nothing else had some wacky and hilarious characters. Quote
Svelte Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Merged! And play nice with legomilk, English isn't his first language and he is a valuable source of info for EB Quote
Brickthing Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 I just relooked at my version of The Legend Reborn, and it turns out that I have a different version of this ad, which is presumably an older version of it. It's shorter, in a more dramatic style, and lacks any voice-over or characters talking. At the end, instead of The Adventures of Clutch Powers in a fancy logo, it's called The LEGO adventures, in plain red font. Unfortunately, there aren't any scenes in it that I spotted that weren't in your later version. Quote
Andeh Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 I've noticed one of the characters (in the silver/white power suits kind of things) has pointy hair, similar to the hair of Bart Simpson. Perhaps Lego are planning on creating Lego Simpsons? Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 (edited) I can't wait to see it, the trailer is full of cool scens, and there is a Crystal King in! Edited October 11, 2009 by Lordofdragonss Quote
