MKJoshA Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 The time for reminiscing was over. (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86454) (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86609). There was a lot more I needed to think through and process, but it would have to wait. We had landed on a docking platform in Cloud City. Yeoman and I slipped away as the pilot of Galaxy Gull (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85513) went to take care of his cargo with the dock-master. We kept to the shadows and tried to figure out what the situation was. Our mission details said that Princess Leia was rumored to be in Cloud City, but we didn't know whether she was a prisoner or free to move about on her own. All of a sudden klaxon alarms started sounding and a male's voice came over the speakers. "Attention! This is Lando Calrissian. Attention! The Empire is taking control of the city. I advise everyone to leave before more Imperial troops arrive." At the word "Empire" we knew we were in trouble. Civilians started running every direction. We ducked into the first corridor to our left looking for a way to the main hallways. Behind the door was an Imperial Stormtrooper with his back to us. It was a quick kill. He never knew what killed him. "If there are Stormtroopers here then this place is in serious trouble." I said to Yeoman. He knew all to well what the Empire did to planets who did not fall in line with Imperial standards. If the Princess was found here then the whole of Cloud City was in danger of being wiped out as an example. "With Stormtroopers here there's not much we can do to help the Princess unless we bump into her on the way." I said to Yeoman. "Let's focus on getting as many of these civilians out of here as possible before Star Destroyers blockade the planet." OoC: This is loosely based off of the Star Wars Battlefront 1 map. There is a portion of the map that leads from the courtyard to the carbon freezing chamber that has a set of suspended walkways. This is my 4th and final free build before the 1st contest. Quote
Mutant Orc Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 What face has Yeoman got it looks funny and useful. Nice MOC, I adore that dark tan and grey ship Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Nice smooth little build, but a bit to plain, especially the walls. Some greebles or pipes would add a lot to this build. I don't know what the technic axes represent but they look a bit unfinished just laying on the ground not being connected to anything. Another sugestion, when building the walls cross the bricks in the second row or use some SNOTed plates on the rear of the walls. This way the light won't come through the gaps when taking pictures of your MOC. Quote
LegoFjotten Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Nice build, this is my favourite of your builds so far! I like the shape of the floor and the doorways. The walls could be more interesting though, and some contrast between the floor and walls would make it more visually interesting (for example light bluish grey walls and dark floor or vice versa). Jacob Nion Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 That's a very cool looking vignette. I love this snotted path and the simple but smart way you made the pipes on the ground. And I really like how you develop your character's story. Quote
MKJoshA Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 What face has Yeoman got it looks funny and useful. It's the face of the manta warrior from the Atlantis sets. Nice smooth little build, but a bit to plain, especially the walls. Thank you for your lighting suggestion. I'll try that next time. Also, I've gotten a few comments saying I need more hoses and greebling so I guess I should start listening to them. I have pieces for greebling, but I only have a couple hose pieces. Any suggestions from anyone on how to get that look without buying more pieces? Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Instead of hoses you can use ordinary pipes - 3, 4 or 6 long bars which are used for axes or even 1x1 round bricks stuck together into a longer pipe ... and anyway, there's way more greeble than hoses on the walls In this MOC only one or two hoses would be quite enough. I'd change the floor into something else though - make it an endless pit and remove the floor completely. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I do like the color scheme of this build better than that of your last, and the suspended walkways seem very Cloud City-ish; good choice. I think I'd like to see some more detailing along the walls: maybe some cylinders in the corners, maybe some vents, maybe some small lights, that sort of thing. Reinforce the idea that this is an industrial area. Quote

kermit Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Nice moc. I think there could of been a little more buttons or some panels on the walls though. Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 I like how you made the cables with technic pins, that was cool. I think the emptyness kind of suits the scene! Quote
