PenPlays Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Previous part: Stalkhead Beach Dawn of Ages Chapter 2: The Cornovaria Chronicles, Part 2: The Legend of the Reaper The troupe made their way through the plains of Conrovaria. As they walked, rows of growing corn and the horizon-lining ridge could clearly be seen. After a mostly quiet stroll, Drinnian finally spoke up. "So... what may I ask is the point of our trek?" "You know some Conrovaria Folk-lore, Malivan," Maisley said. "Have you ever heard of the Legend of the Reaper?" "I'm not much of a story teller, but yes," Malivan said. "Allow me to relate the story to you all..." Many years ago, there was a Cornovarian crop gatherer who feared death itself more than its many causes. He searched far and wide for elixirs, potions and spells that would keep him from death. His work was futile, and he was of age when he returned to Cornovaria. Depressed, he sought counsel from the Order of Eden. They heard his plea, and reluctantly gave him the instructions to cast an eternity spell. Fabricating a staff to wield the spell for frequent use, his dreams were met at last... ...but for a price. His flesh blew away with the wind. He became only bone. An animated Skeleton. He became...undead without dying. Realizing his eternal fate, he cloaked himself in black, grabbed his scythe and a lantern and abandoned his home, leaving his cane in the middle of the road, hoping that it would appear as the everyday stick. No such luck. Another man used the staff, this time in front of nervous onlookers. At the sight of this abomination, they took him to the ridge that faces Historica, and tore him limb from limb, scattering his severed bones to the forests. In memorial, they sealed the cane, or as they called it, The Death Cane, under the stone where they killed the poor soul. To atone for his indecency, the cloaked man began to search for the souls of men who try unholy craft on life itself. He would give them their worst fear, death, as punishment for their frivolous, yet ironic efforts. For that reason, he became known as... ...The Reaper. "It is said," Maisley said. "In between his searches, The Reaper stands guard over the Death Cane, waiting for a thief to attempt at claiming it. I fear that this legend may be true. That is why we are going to the Ridge that faces Historica to see if the cane truly lies within." "And if it doesn't?" Drinnian asked. "In all honesty, I know it does, or at least...it used to..." * Just to note, this is a freebuild. C&C is welcome! HammerBro Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Great story, penkid! Nice use of forced-perspective too. Quote
de Gothia Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Nice moc! I like the FP aswell! The figs are to tight positioned though, looks a little weird to me. Maybe left one or two out of the moc so they could walk more natural? Quote
soccerkid6 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Neat little build, the FP looks good and I like your fig posing Quote
Kayne Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Looking good! I can't help but think of "Don't fear the Reaper", which leads me to this Quote
Kai NRG Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I'll give you +1 for the FP and Countryside Scene, but I'd like to see something with a bit more focus on the Microscale aspect before I give you credit for that. Quote
Gideon Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I'll give you +1 for the FP and Countryside Scene, but I'd like to see something with a bit more focus on the Microscale aspect before I give you credit for that. Second that, I too would have liked something more in the background to give credit for microscale. +1 for FP and Countryside Scene. Quote
