I tried plenty of other angles, but none came out good enough. You can check them here (when public)

I missed this comment at the first read-through. I think it's bad style for me to frontpage myself - perhaps another staff members drops by and thinks it's worth it. If not, then I've had plenty of praises at LEGO World to keep me on a high for the next year or so. Now I need to figure out what next year's diorama is supposed to be. Any ideas on what to use 1998 2 x 2 tan tiles for? A huge diorama and one sandcrawler?

So as I was lucky enough to have my MOC displayed at this year's LEGO World in Copenhagen, I had some spare time to wander about the Bella Center and have a look at LEGO's 'universes' as they called them. In the Factory Universe these magnificent parts were handed out. The torso was part of a "Build-your-own-minifig" and very popular. A nice idea which was combined with showing the machines that print torsos. The 1 x 8 printed tile was being printed using an old hand driven printing machine and everyone could print their own tile or pick one of the already printed ones up. A great featured that shoved how tiles were printed in the good old days - hopefully? And as last year they also handed out this fine little puzzle with some very useable printed tiles. Now please don't flood this or me with questions on wether or not I could spare some of these. I don't have enough for myself - being greedy isn't that popular and TLG was more than generous towards us AFOLs already, so I couldn't get myself to rip these fine things.

Wise and cheaper.... much cheaper

Now this might sound a little odd, but how about making a topic for each of the models you've posted here? It would allow more feedback and ease my indexing of your work. Great midi scale models - they deserve more than being showed into one single topic. We could do with a little Midi scale boost and if you choose to post each model individually, then I'd repay you with a frontpage of all of them at once. I think your work is a great way to show what can be built with a small amount of pics and still look awesome. Your AT-AT and Y-Wing are better than what TLG managed to design in the 7778 Midi Scale Millenium Falcon.

Shockingly well done If this had a little more 'steampunk' to it, then I'd snatch it and shove it into the Star Wars Forum. Perhaps I should give this a link somewhere?! Great job - so many awesome details that I have to spend several hours dissecting your pictures to spot them all. Sorry, but I just had to 10120 Floating Death Rock by SlyOwl

Best of luck with that. I've never had to fight the weight of a model, so I can't give any great advice. Can't wait to see more pics of your work.

The senate commandos are also available in Cad Bane's speeder coming out this summer. And Senator Palpatine will be available in one of the magnet sets. Don't buy the set. Buy Cad Bane's Speeder and a magnet pack. Same figs - better price. Unless you're a collector like some of us.

And it was worth it. MOD's are always good for seeing sets in different styles and versions.

I've known Morten for some 16 years or so... And no we didn't trade figs - he borrowed mine and I borrowed some of his Thanks. I was waiting for someone to spot the Plo Koon torsos - that fig took some time to design as there's no official figure to fit the guards on each side of the door. And yeah, I am also most fond of the pillars. 25 Hours is a rough calculation. I think I spend a lot more just thinking and cruising Brickshelf for inspiration and BL for parts. And no Morten isn't Ras as Ras is Rickard and Morten is Morten... Simple, hoah?

Check the supermarkets like Føtex, Bilka, Kvickly and the likes. They often buy a bunch of LEGO and sell it at better prices than S@H or TRU. Even some toy stores have good prices "Legekæden" for example, not BR though as they're part of TopToys a.k.a. TRU

The pillars each 'eat' some 180 2x2 tiles and 100 1x1 bricks plus the shrubs, clips, 2x2 plates, 20 brackets and 12 10x6 plates. Yeah, they wouldn't let Santa in - something about being bad when wielding a red light sabre or something
-
I know and there's a few more figs that doesn't belong. I needed more diversity in the figs and allowed myself a little 'artistic freedom' The Captain Antilles Techs and Rebel Cruiser Pilots are 'extras' as well.

Thanks. It was the most appropriate hair to use and not that 'far-fetched' since Padme is her mother

As some might have noticed I've been somewhat absent for the past weeks. One reason was very personal, another was going to Rome for a week with my wife and the last was that I was accepted as one of the 40 AFOLs to show the public what we can do with bricks. Now I've only built a few smallish MOCs previously and one very bad train station So this was somewhat difficult for me to do. There's so many things I'd like to have designed in a different way or done in a completely other way, but time ran out and the project/diorama had to be finished in time and it was. During LEGO World I got a lot of comments on it and all of them were positive. So perhaps I just set my personal standard too high or perhaps people were just being nice - I'll leave some of the judging in your hands I decided back in September - October 2009 to do the final scene of Star Wars Ep. IV "A New Hope" The scene where Luke and Han (not Chewie) are handed medals for destroying the Death Star (I). Morten chose to do the Emperor's Arrival at Death Star II from Episode VI, but I'll let him post the pics for that one himself. I got Morten's rebel figs and he got my imperial figs and we started off. First off let me explain my 'style'; I like SNOT and I even like the classic studs-up look, but most of all I am a 100% tiled builder. I really like the smooth and clean look added when everything's been 'tiled' and that's why my MOC looks like it does. The pillars and plateaus are meant to look like they do. I did try to add more greeble and shrubs, but it ruined the 'tiled'-look in my opinion, again you are more than entitled to disagree with me and ideas on how to expand my techniques are more than welcome. We then started off in Morten's basement - let me stress here that if you're married with children and does NOT have a basement or spare room, then DO NOT start a project like this. - I've heard of marriages going down the drain during large builds and that's not the point, is it? Here's a few pics of the beginning: For some reason these pics are crap - they'll get better as we move into the build. Anyways, since I hate baseplates the entire baseplate level has been added a brick plus a plate vertically. It gives a better and more stable base, plus one can either 'dig in' or 'shovel on' without suddenly going through the table underneath. As the build moved on the end plateaus finally came into shape and so did the entrance and 4 major pillars. I am not fond of the entrance and I'll most likely change it. It's too 'wall-ish' and I really want it to look more like the 4 major pillars where Leia is. The four major pillars are 30 studs high, but only 25 bricks and that took some calculation to get right. They're covered with tiles and piraka pony tails attached to 1x1 clips - which I quickly ran out of The pillars' plates are attached to each other with brackets - make sure they all face the same way when using them to connect. And this is how the major pillars are build, attached and detached from the model. The whole thing was then tiled in tan and dark tan tiles - another expensive BL / S@H order... The missing tiles are missing to allow last instance changes to be made. It's hell taking off 50+ tiles to get to one spot to move a fig one plate. So finally the day arose to set up and start the flashing at LEGO World 2010 in Bella Center Copenhagen. 181 Minifigs 8 Kgs of bricks 25 hours or so of work Too much money spend on BL and S@H I'll let the pics speak for themselves. Enjoy and do ask or comment as you please! The happy builder and his MOC: More pics here (when public) Pics of LEGOWorld here
