About Me

LEGO Life

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was born. When I was extremely small, I didn't have a big experience with Duplo; even when I was very young it seemed slightly juvenile to me. Instead, I played with Jack Stone and Racers LEGO, until I reached the age of 4. Why did I stop then? That is when I got my first Bionicle set. I would be being disingenuous if I said I was with Bionicle from the very beginning, as I got my first set, 8561 Nuhvok, in early 2002, not in any time during 2000 or 2001. I was given the set by a former friend of my mother's; I seem to recall that she was given it by someone as a joke (something adult fans of Bionicle might not take too lightly!) and she had already constructed it herself out of boredom. However, she thought a young child like myself at the time might enjoy it, and how right she was. As soon as it was given to me, I was hooked.

Once I had played around with the Bohrok for a bit, I decided that to make the experience even more exciting, I would take it apart, and re-build it myself. Despite only being 4 years old, I was able to complete the task at hand with surprisingly successful results. After a few minutes, I had taken it apart and put it back together again in no time. From that day on, I seemed to be infatuated with Bionicle; completely obsessed. I collected the rest of the Bohrok, including the Bohrok-Kal, the Toa Nuva, the Rahkshi, and all the other waves that followed until Bionicle's close in 2010. I wasn't particularly upset about the line being discontinued, even less so when I saw the first high-quality images of it's successor, Hero Factory, the same year. Now that Hero Factory has been running for over a year, I have all the sets to date, and I will continue to collect them until it is discontinued.

Other than Bionicle and Hero Factory, I am currently collecting Ninjago sets and Collectable Minifigures. I was also buying Power Miners sets until they stopped being produced around the same time as Bionicle. I like Ninjago because, in some ways, it reminds me a lot of Bionicle itself, namely the story. No wonder, as it is written by Greg Farshtey himself after all. Speaking of the story, I'd say that I actually prefer it to Hero Factory's; it seems more complex and thorough, all thanks to Greg of course. Collectable Minifigures on the other hand I enjoy simply due to the collectable aspect that drives the theme forward. When I was younger I loved trading cards and collectable toys, so having the same thing in LEGO just exemplifies and re-kindles that love. As the years pass, I may start following more System lines, but whatever happens, I will buy LEGO as long as I live.

Personal Life

I was born on December 14th in Hertfordshire, England, where I still live to this day. In the future, however, I plan to leave the United Kingdom. I live with my mother, step-father, newly-born sister, and pet hamster. I have friends on the internet and in real life, the majority of them being proud nerds, just like me. Although I'm apparently quite smart for my age, I find school rather dull and uninspiring. Other than messing around with LEGO, in my spare time I like watching TV (particularly Sci-Fi), writing, reading, computing (usually video editing rather than coding or something along those lines), reviewing (LEGO), animating with stop-motion and MOCing. Being a nerd, I don't like many sports, but I am good at and fond of swimming and cycling, both of which I do a lot on my yearly summer trip to France.

Professional Life

I get paid for making a variety of LEGO videos through Google AdSense. Basically, people click on ads next to my videos and each click amounts to a MINUSCULE amount of money, at the end of each month, Google tallies up my earnings for that month and if they've reached £60+ ($100+ in the US), I get sent a cheque for the amount in question. This happens pretty rarely, around every 2 months.
