  1. As with the other thread fantastic stand, very classy way of displaying the set. I'm planning on buying the parts later on in the month after I see Blur at Dublin, have to see how many euro's the trip is going to sting me! Very interested to see if the nose sloping modification works and if so I'm def going to give it a shot as well (the gaps at the top near the front are an eyesore for sure!). Fingers crossed the stability is still there!
  2. Another rebuild of the set (PRO TIP: build the stand first, then the wings, finally the fuselage and attachment of all the above for maximum build pleasure) and I've added another set of mods to the build. Firstly I added an extra piece to step 18 to prevent the parts from the stand from falling off. Secondly I've added extra rubber bands to the S Foil mechanism to provide extra stability (just grabbed one of the sets from Poe Dameron's X-WIng because I had it to hand). Third mod curtesy of Reddit user https://www.reddit.com/user/DeductedMiller/, involves moving the engines one stud closer to the hull of the ship. This reduces the noticeable gap when the ship is in flight mode. The only issue with this mod is that it means the pins that attach the wings can't be fully inserted without pushing up the engines. Small price to pay for less gap though imo. Mod steps 328/329, 391/392, 454/455 & 516/517. And mod steps 345, 408, 471 & 533 by replacing the grey 2x3 plate. This allows the wings to open otherwise the part restricts movement. This is what the X-Wing looks like with the ship in flight mode. And finally made changes to my stand to have ship pointed downwards as standard. Bit wonky but does the job!
  3. I don't think it's possible without a redesign of that section of paneling. That studded part keeps a couple of sections on the panel towards the cockpit together. Honesty those studs exposed aren't an issue when you build the set, they look more pronounced in pics than they do when you see and build the set for yourself. Embrace the studs! :)
  4. Wow! Love the look of that stand with the built in landing gear. Really adds a touch of class to the display. And that updated R2-D2 is def something I'd be interested in trying out myself. Bit annoyed at LEGO store. I requested a replacement canopy piece due to scratches incurred from the box. My replacement part arrived and I've just checked it and it also has scratches on it... Really poor show from LEGO...
  5. Sadly beyond my creative skills, my mods tend to be simple and easy to implement! Hopefully someone comes along with some suggestions. :)
  6. Since I couldn't find a thread with mods for the newest UCS X-Wing I thought I'd start this one for people to share their own tweaks on the set. I picked up one of the R2-D2 polybags and some bricks to add height to the stand (and add a spot for the R2-D2 minifig). Really happy with the way it has come together. Sure the scale isn't accurate but at a distance it looks good to me and that's what will keep me happy!
  7. Finally got round to doing a few mods (had to order a few more parts on brick link, multiple times due to forgetting to order certain parts...). Got rid of the spring loaded shooters And the stud shooter plus some colour swaps And then the big one, had to extend the rear section of the model to fit two sets of fins between the escape pods and the engine Only issue is that due to the stand I use I had to pop two double A batteries into the bottom of the cockpits to offset the weight... But she's looking fine and that's what counts :D
  8. Out of all the UCS sets I own this is my personal order in terms of building, display and enjoyment of each set. 1. 2018 Y-Wing 2. Slave-1 3. 2017 Millennium Falcon Now before I get linched, I adore the UCS Millennium Falcon. But it's a very stressful build and it takes up so much room. The other UCS sets I own are both a pleasure to build and easy to move about and display. Y-Wing edges out for me because not only is it a pleasure to build (I love the greebling on this set) it is also brilliant to view from all angles and I can swoosh it without fear of any part of the build falling off.
  9. Rebellions are built on Hope...
  10. Voted the Nebulon B. The build would be more interesting plus the thought of having a microscale Millennium Falcon attached to the model and the possibility of the medical bay scene with Luke"s hand getting repaired by the droid has my vote easily!
  11. Mmm will have to see if we can fit something into that section. Might prove difficult though.
  12. My Tantive IV with a UCS Y-Wing style stand and an alternative to the fins in the mid section. Not to everyone's taste I imagine but I'm pretty happy with the end result.
  13. Hi there I can't take any real credit for this as I used Locks LCX file as a basis for this and MatrixOne's design but here is a LCX file that you can look at to see how to construct a similar engine mod. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vvhB7pmcb3IgICphzcLHUOtp64R3nfCr/view?usp=sharing Hope this helps out and to anyone that wants to do a similar mod.
  14. Hola guys, first post. :) @MatrixOne Is there any chance you could help me out with the parts used/No. of parts for your engine mod? My Falcon is unopened atm due to lack of space and I'm currently ordering parts from Bricklink for specific mods and I have to say your engine mod is 100% what I'd love to use in my final build. Alternatively @Lock do you think you could provide an updated LCX for the engine mod you settled with and I could make a stab at altering it with the parts MatrixOne went with (love the sloped translucent pieces in this configuration). Btw really impressed with all the different builds, so many great ideas :D
