[MOC] Midi-scale Ghost & Phantom from Star Wars Rebels
Bricktastrophe replied to mcphatty's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Mate this looks fantastic. I never new I wanted a small-scale Phantom but now I do!. I saw your photos on Instagram; How do you fit Chopper in? -
@Kozikyo86 I really appreciate the Jango Fett Slave 1; it looks great and it counts as a prequel MOC too! I'll be buying instructions for it and your lambda soon. These highly-detailed, playscale MOCs are my favourite; I've built your razorcrest, and the Sti Fos Millenium falcon. I appreciate being able to fit high quality models on an ordinary book case!

[MOC] The Razor Crest by Edge of Bricks
Bricktastrophe replied to Kozikyo86's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I finally finished (almost) this build. The detailing on the top and sides of the build is especially great, I really like how the panel details worked out. Still trying to track down a hand full of wedge plates in LBG, and I used as many metallic parts as I could find to try and give it the post-jawa attack look. I couldn't get a hold of the quarter circle parts on the rear of the engine nacelles, so I improvised with what I had and I think it turned out okay, even if its not particularly accurate to the source material. Thanks for making the instructions available. Hopefully the link to my photos below works! Bricktastrophe's Kozikoyo Razor Crest -
[MOC] [Instructions] Lambda-class Imperial Shuttle
Bricktastrophe replied to barneius's topic in LEGO Star Wars
dammit @barneius, looks like I have another project for the bench! I love this, I made some modifications to the most recent imperial shuttle in the same vein, but I think it's worth going over it again, rebuilding it with your instructions. I love the rear section with the twin blaster cannon! -
[MOC] The Razor Crest by Edge of Bricks
Bricktastrophe replied to Kozikyo86's topic in LEGO Star Wars
@Kozikyo86, Love it! I bought the instructions recently, and have about 80% of the parts ordered for the original version. Does the stud.io file include the updated parts list? I assume that means you don't have instructions for the update (sorry, never used stud.io before). I noticed @juergen.wittner on Instagram had added ski pieces to the rear of the engines on your RZ design, have you seen his mod? Your design is great, but I like the skis (which I assume take inspiration from @Jerac's UCS scale RZ) as they add another degree of detail. I don't know how you feel about it but my favourite MOCs are the ones others can take and make their own modifications to, it creates a real sense of community around the original designer's work. This is one of my all time favourite MOCs, and only m second non-Jerac MOC I've bought instructions for. I'm looking forward to tinkering with it, just like Din in Mando S1E2. -

The Arquitens starting price is $90 AUD more than the FO star Destroyer was in 2018; it started around $189 and it ended at $129 AUD full price ($103.20 on clearance at Target in late 2019). The Arquitens is $269.99 AUD; it's possible it will get down to $229 AUD but thats still more than the $159 USD it's listed at full price in the US. It's $20 more than Lego asked for the most recent AT-AT; that set got as low as $200 AUD in the EOFY sales which was about on par with US full price. My main concern is that sale price or not, these sets will be hard to find on the shelves, and when they do turn up they'll be in lots of 10 or 20 sets in most stores, meaning that if you aren't in store the day the shipment reaches the shelves, you might as well not bother. The major retailers are probably dissuaded from overstocking lego generally because of how poorly the Friends and Disney sets move; they're never short of stock of any of those sets and they are often heavily discounted. When the major retailers heavily discount the lego sets, they often reduce them to cost or below, meaning they take a loss hoping they'll make it up in other sales by getting customers in store/online. If they take a loss or don't sell what is now at least a third of their lego stock on shelves (Friends, Disney and Creator), the likelihood of them ordering stock of any lego in any large quantity is low (outside of Toyworld/Toymates), even on popular lines like Star Wars and Marvel. Hate to be a downer but the high likelihood of missing out on part or possibly even all of this line due to stock availability issues systemic across Australia makes it hard to get excited for Lego, even when the lineup is as good as it is this Winter. -

AAT is back for sale on Lego.com/en-au but I agree, it was impossible to get a hold of the 501st battlepack or even the AAT for the 10 or so months its been out. It's getting real hard to stomach the inflated prices here, knowing that a 20% discount here still comes out more expensive than the RRP most other places. The Arquitens is listed for $269.99 AUD, and $159.99 USD; even on a good exchange rate the Australian price is still $50.00 and 27% more than the USD price. The Slave 1 is a little better; the US price is 20% less than the Australian price ($49.99 USD, apx. $66 AUD vs. $79.99 AUD). Its pretty confusing when generally speaking the prices are consistent across the US, UK and Europe; demand for lego in Australia and New Zealand has always been high which means Lego should be able to ship in large volumes, confident they will move their product. Even with the popularity in the Star Wars community of Mando Season 2 and the Bad Batch, chances are Lego and Disney will have banked on it selling fewer toys than they'd expect with a theatrical release, which probably means we'll see less stock in Australia writ large, and much less outside of the Sydney and Melbourne metropolitan areas. I'd love to buy the whole range Day one, but I doubt I'll ever see the whole range in the one place until I've bought the lot. -
[MOC] The Razor Crest by Edge of Bricks
Bricktastrophe replied to Kozikyo86's topic in LEGO Star Wars
@Zer0100neThanks mate, looks great. I'm guessing the parts were pretty easy to track down in the States. I'm having trouble massing the required number of wedge plates, wedges, slopes in LBG here down under. Always jealous of how readily available everything seems to be over there! -
[MOC] another Millennium Falcon - 2023 update
Bricktastrophe replied to stifos's topic in LEGO Star Wars
@stifosNo issues with the design mate, just parts availability. In the first couple of photos of your build before you redesigned it in stud.io there were some custom designed, brick-built crates, but all good mate, I'll design my own!- 70 replies

[MOC] The Razor Crest by Edge of Bricks
Bricktastrophe replied to Kozikyo86's topic in LEGO Star Wars
@Hold0511, Thanks for the info. I've started ordering parts; we're lucky enough to have a storefront that sells parts loose in bulk too so I'll spend half my Sunday digging through part bins for metallic parts. I plan on displaying it on my Mandolorian shelf next to the UCS Slave 1 and Boba Fett Helmet. Obviously this RZ MOC is closer to play scale than true minifig/UCS scale; does anyone know how it compares to the UCS Slave 1? I guess I could just put it next to the 20th anniversary Slave 1, which is a perfect play-scale set IMO. (I have four different Slave 1s built, with another on the way when the Book of Boba Fett/Mando S2 set is released) @Sebeus I, did you ever end up finishing your version of the Razor Crest? @Zer0100ne, did you have pictures of your RZ? -

I'm in Brisbane, and checked stores in Canberra, Adelaide, the Gold Coast and Lego.com and never found the 501st Battlepack in stock. The Brisbane Lego store only ever got 8-10 of the set at a time, and they were 6-8 weeks apart between deliveries. If you weren't a part of the online community you'd never have known Lego released it, same with the AAT and Duel on Bespin sets. The last time it was this hard to get Star Wars sets was the release of the first wave of the Last Jedi sets; when the hype was huge and Rian Johnson hadn't shattered any chance of successfully marketing the Rise of Skywalker. Fortunately those sets were a lot easier to get a hold of, although I'm reticent to suggest it was because of the latent loathing of Star Wars after TLJ. I think its a mixture of distribution issues and successful advertising on Lego's behalf. The leaks of the Mando Season 2 sets have generated pretty significant hype which is likely to bleed outside of the (relatively) niche lego star wars online community; as Disney starts to ramp up advertising for Book of Boba Fett and the season finale of the Bad Batch due to air 13 Aug 21 I think they're likely to sell a lot of Star Wars Lego across the world, including here down under. Which means scalpers will flock to the sets, EB will mark them up 20%, and Kmart will sell them 10% below RRP but never have any in stock. Kmart, Target and Big W never seem to stock the entire line any more either, which enhances scarcity. -

@Hold0511 That build looks great, I'm surprised there are that many bricks in the various metallic/silver colours out there. Are all the metallic/silver bricks genuine lego or did you have to paint/modify some of them? If you don't mind me asking, how much did the finished build cost? Tossing up between building the @Kozikyo86 Razor Crest and the @TGBDZ Play Scale Ghost next; any recommendations? -
[MOC] another Millennium Falcon - 2023 update
Bricktastrophe replied to stifos's topic in LEGO Star Wars
18 months later and I've finally finished this build (mostly). The design is fantastic - the build is so heavy, so intricate, but strong enough to hold its shape. This is a great midway between the official system scale sets and the UCS Millenium Falcon. The parts list is pretty good, but there were a few parts that just weren't available in Australia; the tyres inside the mandible access points for example haven't been available at all since I started this build 18 months ago, and some of the older wedge plates were hard to track down in any quantity. I think your design decisions were great though; all of the rare parts that remained inn your build deserved to be there and distinguish it from other Millenium Falcon builds. I think it will go nicely with the 20th anniversary edition Slave 1, which is a similar scale. My photos are too large for Eurobricks but they're available here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CQNPwm4J-6Z/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link The crates that you included in your original build, before the instructions were created- do you think you could upload some more photos of those so that I can copy them? Thanks again for sharing this great build with the community! Very proud to have it in my collection. It fits in with builds from all the other best Star Wars MOC designers like Jerac.Lego and Inthert.- 70 replies
