  1. Yeah I think I didn't do a great job of conveying the size and scope of it, as lots of people are saying it's expensive, which it's not a small amount of money but it's probably more that people aren't seeing the value in it. It's pretty big...
  2. I wouldn't exactly call myself the most successful, as others have said there are other creators who've had 2 project approved. There's also creators with more projects to hit 10k than myself. But regardless, it's not a competition I do it all for the love of LEGO and wanting to see these projects turned into real sets myself.
  3. Probably because the original shared the same "scene" but changed for some of the seasons and holidays. It made it look like there was less than there was.
  4. Thanks, there's actually 1 less vignette than the original ideas project. I removed easter. Also the ideas project the plan was to reuse parts between the seasons, halloween and christmas, so you'd just take away and add parts to the same scene the the seasons changed, but when I asked the bricklink team how do "take away" parts in the instructions they said don't bother, just give them all the parts to build all the scenes at once. I did the math and figured I could make more varied and unique scenes instead for less parts than if I was to have the same scene, so I did that instead. It may look like there's more than in the ideas project but there's just more variety now.
  5. Yeah the parts are being sourced from LEGO themselves. It's only existing parts currently in production which is why there's no parts in new colours or new prints, it's either stickers or existing prints. Source: Me, I'm the designer of the Seasons in Time one
  6. Just noticed this thread, I used Hollywood Edition back when I did some designs for the LEGO Batman Movie, the differences are minor really compared to LDDs base feature set. The biggest things are being able to group pieces together, Freeze pieces in position (though this never worked for me) There's a Maya mode (which I never used, despite having a lot of experience using Maya), I assume this just changed the camera\movement controls to Mayas. Other things, Rudimentary SSAO AND SSDO along with a simple Cell shaded look. I remember it having an option to disable collision between bricks too, but I can't seem to find it now
  7. I rarely visit Eurobricks these days, I was googling for something else and somehow stumbled across this. Absolutely amazing, thank you for your work in continuing to support LDD after LEGO has abandoned it. I'd love for this to become a more permanent fixture in the lego community, have you thought of setting up a website for it? exclusive of eurobricks with community driven support?
  8. Thanks, I'm not convinced it will even reach 10k to be honest. I was so excited that they were accepting the X-files that I rushed it onto there, I don't think I did a good job of presenting it well, needs more minifigs, better presentation
  9. Thanks Digger. It felt like a long time but it was just under 3 months from 0 to 10,000. That's less than half the time it took the Ectomobile and Stay Puft to reach 10k! Coincidentally my new project was approved the same day Seinfeld reached 10k - The Dark Crystal
  10. The Beyond the brick video is basically just a rip of my original in depth look of the cave, so watch mine if you can :) I keep meaning to do a video of my work on the lego batman movie but finding the time is another story, I keep making lego ideas projects :)
  11. Was there any reasoning for why it was rejected? I heard from someone I know that just a week or so before I submitted my x-files project that someone had theirs rejected as well, they couldn't say why it was though
  12. Yeah after I submitted mine I searched and another one that was posted about week before mine. I did a little video to help promote mine :D
  13. Hey guys (Brent Waller, creator of LEGO Ghostbusters Ideas set) Some of you might remember I submitted my X-files moc 4 years ago (nearly to the day) and it was rejected for mature themes. After seeing Stranger Things come to Lego with similar themes I thought I'd submit X-files again and this time it was approved and is now up for voting! LEGO X-Files by Brent Waller, on Flickr
  14. An update to this, after the Stranger Things lego set I thought I'd resubmit my X-files moc and this time it was approved and open for voting! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/2236f271-714c-4dea-a538-f3feb1293658
  15. It's been a while since I've posted here, as you will see I've been busy. Now I think this is the largest LEGO Batcave in the world, someone correct me if I'm wrong. It took about a year and a half on and off and I can only guess somewhere between 50-100k pieces used. I honestly have no idea what the final number might be. It stands at a little over 2 meters tall. The pic with me in it for reference (I'm 6'4) 0 by Brent Waller, on Flickr It features a Wayne Manor on top, moving suit conveyor and rotating carousel for batmobiles down the bottom, integrated lighting and a bunch of little vignettes on the sides featuring villains and scenes from the history of Bat-lore 45 by Brent Waller, on Flickr 99 by Brent Waller, on Flickr 9 by Brent Waller, on Flickr 26 by Brent Waller, on Flickr 12 by Brent Waller, on Flickr I've just posted a couple of pics as there's so many, If you want to see more check out the Flickr album I'd recommend checking out the video walkthrough, I intend on doing a full commentary tour at some point soon too.
