About Me
Hi, welcome to the about me page.
3 Cylinder Solenoid Engine
I've been building this 3 cylinder Solenoid engine for quite some time. I first started this project in 2011 and it went through various phases over the years. The first solenoid engine was very basic in design and had a brushed commutator which burned up due to the large current from the 12V heavy duty starter battery. In the second phase of the solenoid engine I implemented using proximity sensors and transistors to switch on and off the solenoid coils in contrast to using a brushed commutator. Now the third variant of the solenoid engine I manage to make the crankshaft more rigged then the previous versions due to this 120 degree offsetting Axle connection. Also I was able to replace the 12V heavy duty starter battery with the 9V AA LEGO battery box for the power source to turn the engine over.

Vacuum Engines
One of my favorite projects is building Lego vacuum engines. From inline engines to radial engines from single acting cylinder engines to double acting cylinder engines. Building Vacuum engine can take on several variations ranging from engine designs that are under the hood of a Cars or take form to those that function closely like those on Trains and Boats.

Topic: PF 9v Electrical System Upgrades
This is the first motor that I customized to fit with the LEGO Techinc system. Being a 18V motor it use way more current then the PF system could handle, so I had to use the R&D that went into the Solenoid engine to make a H-bridge motor driver circuit to supply the starting load current the 18V motor needed to turn over way more then the PF battery box and receiver would supplying. The H-bridge motor driver connects with the PF IR receiver and can use more than a 12v load to power the motors with out damaging the PF receiver.
XL DC Motor Upgrade
Due to the previous issues with the 18V motor needing its own custom motor driver and more batteries. I decided to see if it was possible to upgrade the motor inside the XL DC motor and be able to power the upgraded motor with out the need of building a custom motor driver circuit and work within the capabilities of the PF system.

Differential Shim
One of the most critical aspects to the drive train is the differential shim for the differential. With out the shim on the differential, the differential would flex out of gear alignment with the drive gear and the gears would grind under high torque supplied by the powerful DC Motors.

Antigravity
I named this Antigravity. One of the first constructions I made with the Custom JB weld Magnets not the first construction I made with magnets the solenoid engine holds that title for that.
