I've recently been watching Mighty Orbots and I realized that I really want a contraction line of individual figures that can all combine Voltron style into one giant robot. That'd be cool.

I wonder if we can pester the bionicle team to reveal their 2017 sets and plans seeing as we will never get them in real life, would be interesting to see what they had up their sleeves had they been allowed to go the full three years.

Yes please. One of the catalysts for the comparisons was surprising amount of JoJokes people have made with G2. Like this beauty for example:

Well, the story starts with two brothers, one wearing blue and another wearing gold and purple. The purple brother then uses a special mask in an attempt to ascend to godhood and reshape the world in his own image, forcing the blue brother to sacrifice himself to stop the other one. (Phantom Blood) Fast forward a long period of time and the evil brother has resurfaced and has assembled an army to try and take over the world, causing a group of quirky characters with unique colors and powers to then start a globetrotting quest to try and stop him. (Stardust Crusaders) Doesn't hurt that they have similar powers either. E.I. Tahu=Avdol, Lewa=Kakyoin/Joseph, Onua=Jotaro, Kopaka=Poleneraff/Jotaro, Pohatu=Iggy. Now do you see my drift?

One big thing that dawned on me while watching the JtO finale is that Bionicle G2 was pretty much just LEGO's take on JJBA.

I actually kind of enjoyed Ekimu's "grumpy old man" vibe we got from the 2015 animations and the first few episodes of the Netflix series, I just weigh that we had more time for everyone's characterization in general in regards to the series.

I like the droid, but these have got to be some of the blandest and dullest looking construction figures I've ever seen. They're like the LEGO version of those brown and grey gritty military shooters everyone makes fun of. Say what you will about Bionicle's reboot, but at least that brought some life and color back to the lego aisle. These are just, boring and dull. (Here's hoping kids don't like them and lego tries something a bit more colorful in the construction line next. ) (Still gonna buy that droid and maybe the trooper though though, they've got some interesting thins going for them.)

Something that makes me wonder is just how badly did Bionicle flop so that the LEGO Company decided to cut it off early instead of letting it run its 3 year course. I mean, Chima flopped pretty badly as well and it managed to last its 3 years before its plugged got pulled. So what's the difference? Especially seeing as BIONICLE was almost always sold out at my local LEGO store and they said it was pretty popular there when I asked them.

Did anyone else kind of expect Captain Planet to show up at the end?

I've also started work on my entry tonight and it's coming along pretty well. My family and I are really liking how it's shaping up.

I'm planning on entering the contest as well. Probably gonna make a Makuta that looks like a cross between a megazord with each limb being made of a different element and Dio Brando with an emphasis on golden parts in order to give it a divine yet evil feel.
