That's my dining room table, the only free surface to hand! Thanks everyone, glad you like it.

I think I see what you mean. It might explain why the Stormie has trouble gripping the handlebars.
-
Seconded! This MOC is fantastic. I always wanted to see a Kirk-era movie-style Enterprise in Lego, never managed to do it myself, and this is mighty close. Great interior too!

Great idea, great set! I have no Gungans: I'd buy this for sure. the 1999 box art. [JarJar] Weesa got a grand army! [/JarJar] Only criticism: the Naboo soldier looks a bit of an add-on, but I guess he adds variety.

Nooooo! I had this fantastic idea - mix-and-match Jedi, just thought I might make a battle pack out of it, and then I saw your entry!! And it's waaaay better than mine would have been. Best of luck to you - this is awesome!

Hi everyone. Like many that replied to ADHO15's review of the new Promo 30005 Speederbike, I felt it was a little too squat, so I thought I'd see what I could do to improve the matter. The result: It's certainly longer, and I think I succeeded in making it look more like a proper speeder. I used all the pieces from the set, except the dark grey 'exhaust' cone, and only pieces from the set. Plus Stormie can now grip the handlebars, woohoo. If you like it, don't like it, or can see a way to make it better, let me know. If you do like it, it's easy to do (took me about 10 minutes) and I won't insult your intelligence by posting instructions! Rufus

Fantastic review, Inky! (you asked for it ) One of the best I've seen. Love the videos, especially the own goal of Hyena bombing the droids in the first vid. Is there no honour amongst droids? You know, you might have convinced me actually to buy this set. Normally I don't buy Clone Wars unless the vehicle appeared in the 'proper' movies, but I made an exception for Nute Gunray, maybe I will here. You've done a much better job selling this than lego did! Great stuff

I think I just might get flamed for this but... Considering only the sets I own, I have to say one of my least favorites is 7153 Jango's Slave I. Yeah, it comes with Jango, and lots of nice dark blue curved pieces (I hadn't seen dark blue before this), but the ship itself was a disappointment. It's kinda clunky, full of holes, has no 'door', and the swivelly cockpit really annoyed me. It deterred me from buying the 2006 Slave I, much to my later regret. A sturdier version with fewer play features would be a big improvement. I bought it in 2002 on impulse, and when I revived it to go with the later prequel sets I still didn't like it. My other nominees are: 7657 AT-ST (It's big, it's grey, it's not much fun to play) and the 7674 Torrent - I built it, I moved the wings up, then down, I tried to put it on the shelf but it didn't sit right, I took it apart.

If you could revive one production year's sets...
Rufus replied to Mos_Eisley's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Definitely 2006 for me - the fleshies, new blasters, and Sail Barge and Slave-I which I missed. Hate to be pedantic, but according to my Collector's Guide, the Sandcrawler was 2005; the 4500 Snowspeeder and 4502 Dagobah X Wing were 2003 (yellow figs) whilst the 4504 Falcon was 2004 (fleshies). Talking of which, one year NOT to resurrect would be 2004: only one new set (Falcon), and some rehashes of Tie Fighters and old Y Wing. Plus a load of minis. [Edit] Oh, and the UCS Y-Wing (thanks Skipper!) -
I take your point - a very good one - that the target marketplace are going to be more interested in the 'here and now' that is The Clone Wars; however I think part of George Lucas' aim with this silly cartoon is to promote the whole genre, and therefore the films, to a younger audience. I was but 3 years old when A New Hope came out; the first SW film I saw was Empire Strikes Back, and yet that provoked a life-long love-affair with the saga. I'm sure the same will happen with the younger generation. I just wish he'd get on and make episodes 7, 8 and 9 he promised oh so long ago. This being said, much as I wish you weren't, I'm sure you're right and these new sets will be Clone Wars. To jump into the mysterious Landspeeder figure argument, I've looked at the pics many times, and I've become more convinced that squeaky-voiced Garindan is lurking there. Wishful thinking perhaps.... Wow. Lego going on for ever ..... Thanks for the great review, Ben506! Great to see this set in the flesh, as it were. Can't wait to get this myself. I think you're right about the engines, they should have a red glow. They look a bit small, but overall, this looks a fantastic set.

My local WHSmith gives me random sets. Monday I got Saturday's speeder, Tuesday i got Monday's Tie, today I got yesterdays STAP. Got to keep the coupons! There was no way I was going to buy several copies of the Mirror though.
-
Great idea! I'm quite a SW nerd, but I don't know what half of these are. Perhaps we should add pics, if this doesn't clash with the Minifig Index. I have a feeling it's 'Sullustan' though
-
Oh, nice! Maybe it's a geographical thing, if you're in France. I'm a bit jealous of your box.
-
Thanks Dr D! Truth is, I'm a bit *scared* of Ebay, but now maybe I'll give it a go .....
-
I bought mine from S@H if that's anything to do with it. Did you pick yours up from a shop?
-
Yay! Landspeeder - I didn't catch either of the earlier ones, happy to have Tatooine Luke and old Obi. Like the curved windscreen. ARC - only recently bought 7259 for an £60 MISB but I'll probably get this too. I 'allow' myself CW sets if they also appeared in PT, or if they are good sets (eg. Republic Attack Shuttle). About the others, the BPs look great and even though I don't 'get' the Defender will probably buy it. I'm with Klaus-Dieter and others - why not a classic Tie in grey? I'm a little ashamed to say I don't own a classic Tie I'm looking forward to news of Palpy's shuttle, would love a decent Lambda but would settle for the Theta from ROTS. Rufus

Awesome stuff, Cole! You've really captured the Force in action here. Only one teensy criticism: clean your baseplate!

Nice review Matt! Nice to see a fellow Silhillian on the site (don't suppose you're also a Villa fan? ) Back on topic, I went to my local WHSmith today to pick up the Mirror and got given Saturday's 30005 instead of this. I'm going to send off by post anyway, not complaining, could do with more Stormies. Rufus

Thanks for the excellent review, Future74! I always thought this shuttle was undersized, but for the price, and 10 minifigs, I could live with that. I missed out on this set in '05 (I was only collecting UCS then), but if I could get it now for less than £300 I wouldn't hesitate. This set is possibly my biggest regret.
-
Nice idea, well executed. What is the mini tower of brown cylinders for - is it a tree stump?
-
Yay! Thanks KimT (I presume) for indexing it, and for the poll. Looks like I'm first to vote.
-
Great review! The set doesn't look nearly as bad as a thought it would. I guess you could push the axes back to give the speeder more length. Can Stormie grip the handlebars if you turn them up and put his hands upside down? I've decided to send off for these by post, which if the City promo was anything to go by means a few weeks' wait.

Sorry!

I'm glad you spotted that! Thanks everyone, glad you liked the review, and that you agree it's a great set. I'll be sure to provide comparison pics with the new Tantive, when I get it!
