Nice! I love your idea for the folding doors, even if it makes them a little bulky. I also like the roof design. I'm not sure how well the brightly-coloured FABULAND parts sit with the tan, but that's always a problem with FABU-parts. And I'm a sucker for TECHNIC bits as architectural detail. Kudos for incorporating the staircase, though I'm a little worried about Barney's office when it rains.

Forum plugin to auto link set numbers
Rufus replied to paulrobinson's topic in Forum Information and Help
I can't answer about whether a plugin would detect the numbers automatically, but it might run into problems with numbers in links etc. You can always use the Set Index; It isn't complete, but most sets are in there, I think. [sdex]<set number>[/sdex] Like this: 8448 I'll move this to Website & Forums. -

As Peppermint has said, please stay on topic! Final warning! Thank you!

Dammit def, there should always be one mystery left!

Danny, one of the things that gave you away was that you kept going on about Excalibur 1 in the day thread. It was obviously in your mind. The main thing, though, was that - during the Pie lynch - it was obvious you knew Pie's allegiance. At the time, I thought Pie would prove to be town, which made you look even worse (I'd have been less likely to kill you if I had thought Pie was scum). Hope that helps for next time! Why am I telling you this? I didn't have much of a choice. Hinck, Scuba and I were in a group PM, and Hinck was finding you suspicious. If I had sat on what I knew, it would have blown what little trust we had already built up if it had been revealed later that you had told me, so I had to say something - and I felt the best thing was to share the entire conversation. Perhaps I should have told you to contact him yourself, but at that stage I wasn't 100% sure I could trust you, so I felt that was the best thing. As it turned out, it helped catch Pie - he probably wouldn't have been lynched if it weren't for your mention of the other tracker. A better thing might have been to have the first action received be the 'winner' in these cases, but that might caused timezone problems. There will always be some luck in Mafia, even if it's only in the allocation of teams, or a lucky guess by an investigator; however, I do agree that roles shouldn't generally have random elements.

I actually thought Redblade was the tracker. I figured the tracker would have known Pie was lying, and maintained their vote - which only Redblade and Danny did. Danny was obviously scummy (sorry Danny, but you were), but Redblade looked a good candidate - there was even a suggestive exchange with def. As I pointed out in PM, the actual tracker - Sandy - even unvoted Pie! That goes to show how good Pie's defence was. I didn't tell anyone I was the vig, apart from Hinck, and then just before he died. I wasn't sure if I trusted anyone enough. I didn't even trust you - I thought you might be a scum role-cop (don't know where I got that idea from ) and had sacrificed Peanuts because he was likely to be lynched anyway. It was only when I saw that Peanuts had repeated accused you early on that finally convinced me. Ferrik could have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for us meddling kids. All he had to say was, 'I have no idea why you got that result, but I swear I'm town,' and we'd probably have lynched Badboy, buying him another night. I did wonder whether he had some sort of 'undercover' role, like mine - I was actually a CIA agent only posing as a toaster salesman ( ) - and the fact that he was my wife ( ) made me wonder if he had some other town role. That was why I PM'd him, but his failure to answer blew the whistle on that. Still, I agree, having him investigate as Town would have made it much more difficult for us.

Thanks for letting me play, Bob! I really enjoyed this one. And not just because we won. The numbers thing was interesting. It gave everyone a talking point at the start of the game, and actually helped us clear Bill (Redblade) on the last day: he missed his number, which the revealed scum (Pie, Danny, and Peanuts) hadn't. There was no way the scum wouldn't have talked about them. If it affected the balance at all, it therefore gave scum a slight disadvatage, but would have had little effect if the scum hadn't been unlucky early on. That's not necessarily true, but it certainly appears that way. They were unlucky to be up against Hinck and def. If Hinck hadn't caught Pie out on day 2, things could have gone very differently; if def hadn't decided to work with town - helping to clear several people - then at least the remaining scum would have lasted a little longer. I'd agree with that - Badboy's reveal hastened the scum's demise. I did spot that Badboy and Nightshroud were husband and wife (and had adjacent numbers) but it was obvious that Nightshroud was Badboy's 'partner in crime' even before he admitted it, so it wasn't really important. I was bothered about Betty being my wife - I wasn't allowed to kill my own family - which is why I worked quite hard to clear it up in the day thread, because I couldn't kill him at night. I spotted that one!

Review REVIEW: FABULAND 3629 Barney Bear (Bruno Bear)
Rufus replied to Pandora's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's interesting to see how quickly the Fabuland sets evolved, over only 2 years. The presence of the window and roof molds, and the printed grille piece, really add character to the car that was somewhat lacking in 329's blocky truck. It's great that the vehicle bases have tow hooks and eyes, allowing you to make a little road-train or something too. The bear molds are cute, but Barney's eyes aren't a patch on the Racoon or Panda eyes (or even the odd Bulldog eyes). Thanks again for another top-notch review! I can't think of a better use for a 32-year-old MISB set. -
What a lovely set! I gotta get me one of these. Nice work, Masked! Super review. It would have been great to see it in sand red.

Yes. Yes ... if you're scum. If you're town, you should be active in the process of trying to find the right person to lynch, in which case you don't have to defend yourself - because your actions speak for themselves. Scum like to lie low and avoid suspicion where possible, but be ready to defend themselves if accused. Your attitude here reeks of 'scum mindset'. But there's more. You know what this suggests? It says, 'I have an action - just not one that helps me evade investigation.' I wondered whether you might have a townie action, so I asked you privately if you had an action, and suggested it would be helpful to know so that we wouldn't have to have the tracker waste an action on you tonight. At no point have you said, publicly or privately, 'I am innocent'; you've read my PM at least twice but you haven't replied. That was 24 hours ago. Here's what answer I would expect if you were a townie: one of, 'No, I'm vanilla town'; or, 'Yes, I'm the <role>'; or, 'Yes, but I don't trust you enough to tell you'; or even, 'Sorry, but I'm not answering that. How do I know you're not scum?' Any of these answers we could work with; from you, nothing. Nada. You've posted in the thread - reiterating the same old tired old empty 'defences', several times since I sent you that message. There's another - more subtle - point here, revolving around the use of the word 'evade'. A townie wouldn't need to 'evade' anything. Your use of the word here suggests the concept was in your mind - because you're guilty, or because it was there all along in your role PM.

That, I agree with. Michael is a safe lynch, and certainly should be considered if we have no better leads, but it should not be used as an excuse for potential scum to escape scrutiny. That, I don't agree with. She has hardly done anything to avert suspicion. Why would a townie get such an investigation result? I cannot think of a reason. I think you may be confusing the Godfather role with that of a cult leader, who often starts alone and recruits; a godfather is usually the leader of a team of scum at the start of the game. Yes, they may be able to convert, but that isn't the point here - the point is that the godfather often appears town to investigation. The uninvestigatable result is unusual, though, and suggests more a 'ninja' role. There was a Ninja godfather in IMHOTEP. It is my understanding that Innocents come up as Innocent when investigated. That is why the result is odd. Michael is a thief, yes, but he doesn't appear to be able to harm us, and we know who he is and he's not going anywhere. Betty remains a suspicious unknown. Until we're able to be reasonably sure she isn't doing us harm, I'd rather we sorted this out. Actually, officially it was Ascetic, but the result is the same - immune to investigative actions.
-
I've been trying to ascertain privately whether Betty is town or not, but she seems disinclined to be helpful. Hopefully some pressure will encourage her. Vote: Betty (Ferrik)
-
It was more a comment on the investigator's result than on the choice of lynch. It occurs to me that this could be misinterpreted. What I meant was, 'I don't know how Bob's results are worded'.
-
I'm surprised no-one picked up on this: I don't know how Bob frames his results, but this struck me as a little odd - Betty being a woman and all. Unless she really has been hiding something from us. Unlikely, perhaps, but not impossible. Bear in mind that Bristol had already been accused when the investigator chose to investigate her, though you could argue that the result swung the lynch firmly onto Bristol. You'll have to use your own judgment. I've presented the investigator's result as told to me; I'm not sure I believe it, and I'm certainly not asking you to - but everyone's opinion can only be helpful, surely? The trouble with lynching Betty is it will tell us nothing about the investigator; Betty seems reluctant to tell us much about herself, which doesn't help.

Review Review: FABULAND 329 Bernard Bear and his Lorry
Rufus replied to Pandora's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yay Bernard! There's nothing like cracking open a MISB set that's older than most people on EB! Lovely review as always! The set is simple, maybe, but a charming set nonetheless. It's interesting to compare this to the later Fabuland vehicles with more custom parts. Shame about the Walrus.- 7 replies

According to the investigator, they investigated Betty and were told: 'You're unable to determine his allegiance'. I can think of several explanations: 1. Betty is a scum godfather but uninvestigatable as opposed to giving a reverse result; 2. Betty is has ninja-like response to investigation, which might imply she is neutral (we don't yet know what happens when neutrals are investigated); 3. The investigator was blocked (but with a day action, that seems less likely); 4. The result was tampered with, in some kind of not-quite-framer action (requires a bit of luck); 5. The investigator is lying. I think 3 and 4 are less likely. We need Betty to be utterly open and honest with us to determine if 1 or 2 are possible. 5 would require the 'investigator' to have sacrificed a team-mate (Bristol) to maintain the ruse; is that likely?
-
If you're town, now is the time to stop being quiet. What do you think about the other information in my post?
-
Hey, don't talk about Betty like that! I agree. Lynching Michael today would be a wasted day - there would be next to no discussion. We know who he his, and he cannot harm us, we hope. Plus it's generally not a good idea to lynch anyone who is asking to be lynched. I'd like to hear more from Bill. I noticed that he was one of two people who voted early for Pierre, then didn't unvote when Pierre responded. It would be wise for scum to do that, and the other person who did that was, of course, Paul. Bill has also been rather quiet during this voyage. Talking of Betty - it seems that our day investigator investigated her today, and was unable to determine her allegiance. How do you explain that, Betty? What does everyone else make of that?
-
I would agree that the second shadowy figure is likely to be the other Master Criminal that Barbara told us about: it appeared at the same time as Babs, but from a different direction; it clearly wasn't working with the scum, as least not directly. Now we also know what happens when to diamond-stealers target the same person on the same night: they .... fight. Quite how the scum-killer was able to kill both Barbara and Holly is anyone's guess, but at least that confirms Holly's story. As for Timothy, he was called out for acting oddly towards the end of yesterday, so I'd guess that was why he was killed. That's mean to say, 'told us about:' WTF?

Unvote: Michael (Bad Boy) Vote: Bristol (Peanuts) If the day investigator has found Bristol to be scum, this must be tested. I still find the whole Holly/Michael claim rather suspicious. It would make more sense if they are indeed a second scum faction, and I'm worried about the possibility that they are a recruiting faction. That they are apparently 'Amateur Thieves' seems to confirm that they are anti-town: after all, we have to lynch or kill off all the Thieves. I certainly don't buy the explanation that they started the game as vanilla townies, but somehow 'became' Amateur Thieves' on day 2, as Michael (I think) purported. The mental image of Babs in her knickers smoking a cigar disturbs me too.
