robuko Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 My lord, your men are surrounded on all sides. We control your supply lines and you are besieged. Your gold is exhausted buying favours from our traders and harlots. In short, your situation is not good. My master the Desert King bears you no ill. You are all honourable men, and true Kaliphlin patriots. You have always been true friends to the General Trading Company and to Nocturnus. Please accept this gift from my master. Fresh fruit, meat, and all the victuals and provisions you need. We do not wish to starve you. But hear our offer. Stedor is surrounded on all sides by Ulandians. They insult your forefathers, they despoil your farms and fisheries, and they have even just launched an illegal assault on the gates of Ras al Akhen. The Council is losing the port cities. You are needed there. We guarantee you safe passage and good treatment through our lands to Stedor. Please take our sincere offer, and go in peace. (Sneaking a late reinforcement in at 23:35 Hawaii time! The key to this build is capturing the feel of Everlast.) 32x32 The mummies are there to make sure the trader carries out his orders, not to ambush the IAMS! Quote
Jacob Nion Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) Good one! I really like the architecture between the rocks. Really looks like a Mountain fortress. Oh boy, why didn't I take more PoP sets when they were sold cheap? I want a camel really bad right now :/ Edited March 16, 2015 by Jacob Nion Quote
Maxim I Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Amazing job recreating the style of Everlast!! I already made a counter to Disco's guerilla, so it will be someone else of my team to counter this one :) approved for sure! Quote
Kai NRG Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Nice job capturing the Everlast feel behind the rockwork! Quote
LittleJohn Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Great build! I really like the camel's pack Quote
Capt Wolf Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Nice build! I think you captured the feel. And you used a camel! Quote
MassEditor Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) Excellent work Robuko, very awesome how much attention you put into recreating Everlast! The architecture in between the mountains is quite lovely. All around awesome entry! In character: It is important for the people of Kaliphlin to know that the Desert King has their best interests in mind! Although our fighters are ferocious on the battlefield, the well-being of Kaliphlin's common people is among our top priorities! I see the possibility for a great future of cooperation between Stedor and the Desert King! I hope Lord DaMaximus will provide us the opportunity to become strong allies. Basiliscus Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Nice work robuko! Love the forced perspective and your attention to detail on the Everlast feel. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Great use of the prefab rope bridge Buildings integrated into cliffs are always neat, and this one is exceptionally cool Quote
Bregir Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 The desert king promises peace and justice, but at what cost? Complete submission and obedience? The ultimate sacrifice on the battlefield for his glory? To believe that one who styles himself as god will treat others as equals, or even with respect, is nothing but folly! The great guild of Kaliphlin is meant to be a republic ruled by the electorate, not a tyranny ruled by a megalomaniac! OOC: This is a brilliant build with a well told story - I really like the way you have made the buildings sit between the mountains, and how there is a limited forced perspective. It will be a hard counter! Quote
Bregir Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 (edited) Sorry for the double post! My counter: A price too high The Town by Beorthan, on Flickr Edited March 22, 2015 by Bregir Quote
robuko Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Thanks for all your kind comments guys. I really don't enjoy rockwork (I have all the wrong bricks!) and there's not many places or people I would do it for, but I thought Maxim's Everlast deserved the respect. Nice build - lemonade?? Those IAMS guys sure love a nice pair of jugs....of lemonade! Wonderful job. The architecture is very aesthetically pleasing. Thanks blufiji, the credit for that must go to Maxim, I was just trying to channel his style. The desert king promises peace and justice, but at what cost? Complete submission and obedience? The ultimate sacrifice on the battlefield for his glory? To believe that one who styles himself as god will treat others as equals, or even with respect, is nothing but folly! We promise you a safe ride home with plenty of food and lemonade so that you can save your loved ones from the Ulandian seige, and we ask nothing in return. We'll treat Everlast with respect and veneration until you choose to join us Great counter btw! Quote
