Log of Jebediah O'Reilly, Entry #025:

After last week's debacle Dr. Long ran a ton of tests on Nate and I before she let us go anywhere. Something about being worried about "a zombie outbreak" aboard the Axle.

Dr. Long: "This won't hurt. Much. Actually this is going to hurt a lot. Please, hold still.

Once she finally let us out of her custody I was sent to Crofter's Ridge, something about a contingency plan for "Project Icarus" Some legend about a Greek kid who flew too close to the sun and died... scary stuff! One day I was summoned to Dr. Longs office. Apparently it was "urgent" and "to come at once" I wonder what's up this time?

Dr. Long: "Odus, take this down to the front office. I swear, this is 420,248th time I've cited Pombe's dress code violations!"

Odus Dillberg: "Of course, Danielle. Whatever you say."

Dr. Long: "Good. Now get out of here."

*knock* *knock*

Dr. Long: "Come in. Shut the door behind you please."

Jebediah O' Reilly: "Hey, long time no see? Ha ha, I crack myself up."

Dr. Long: "That's Bobs joke."

Jebediah O' Reilly: "What do you need?"

Dr. Long: "I'll keep things brief. Last week I discovered we had recovered a time travel device from the facility. This is Project Icarus. Advanced testing began this week..."

Jebediah O' Reilly: "Something went wrong, didn't it?"

Dr. Long: "Stop interrupting. *sigh* Yes, something went wrong. An employee named Blenjamin Blandin was... er... accidently sent into the past."

Jebediah O' Reilly: "What?!"

Dr. Long: "Yes. You trained my troopers, you cooperated with the Gauntlet... right now you're the only one I can trust with this information. I fear what would happen if this device fell into the wrong hands... Let's just say... Well, you know, President Business has already been targeted for 9 separate ethics-based assassinations. I need you to follow Blendin into the past."

Jebediah O' Reilly: "And retrieve him?"

Dr. Long: "Or kill him. Whichever is easier. He mustn't be allowed to interfere with the timeline!"

Jebediah O' Reilly: "I understand."

Dr. Long: "You have 24 hours to prepare. Meet me in Testing Room 12A and we will begin the procedure."

22475370525_445d4af66d_c.jpg

Dr. Long: "Oh, and one more thing... failure is not an option."

Jebediah O' Reilly: "I don't fail."

Clever usage of the Iron Patriot helmet.

So Dr. Long is Iron Man?

I really like her office. It seems appropriately hospital/science like for her. That bookshelf is nicely colorful without being too distracting. My favorite line is: "This won't hurt. Much. Actually this is going to hurt a lot. Please, hold still."

great job on the office and lab. great details in all of the furniture and equipment

First off, I really really really love Dr. Long's office! Better than I imagined it, and I didn't even have to provide you with any suggestions! You may be a mind reader!

I love the little touches, like The Chekhov's Gauntlet in its mineral platter serving as a paperweight on the good Dr.'s desk. Also the solution you came up with for the paperweight form of the Axle that's sitting on her desk is exquisitely elegant! I wish I'd though of that when I discovered that a clip only balanced the Axle piece loosely. I will certainly use that when next I show the minifig-scale Model Axle.

Also the certificate behind her is a great touch! Wonderful detail there! Her desk and environment capture her personality and status perfectly! :classic:

I guess the Iron helmet makes her the Iron Lady? Or are we going more Lady of Steel here?

Love all the scenes and references! And the story is great! Interesting to hear about Lord Business being the target of some ethics based assassination attempts... :look: I wonder if we'll hear more about that...

Glad you like it! I threw the medical scene in at the last minute, and didn't think of that dialogue until I was actually posting.

Thanks Danny! I had a lot of fun with all the details. The helmet isn't supposed to mean anything, I was looking for something to fill the space atop the bookshelf and Rhodey just seemed to jump into my hand... :look::laugh:
