I am really scratching my head about this set. The fact that the main platform was basically cut in half is one thing, but why is there no vader and luke included? A set of stair should have been going from the main platform towards a secondary platform that is a bit higher placed, so you could redo the 2nd scene, that is as important and as iconic as the carbonite freezing...

I also dont understand why they didnt made the center of the plattform into an elevator instead of the one on the side. Kinda lefts out the dramatic slow descent of Han Solo into the chamber itself :sceptic:

Maybe Vader and Luke weren't included because there have been so many variants for them, especially for Luke?

But I do have to agree with you to an extent. I mean if you are going to play out the scene, it would be appropriate with not only Vader and Luke, but Chewbacca and Princess Leia, as well. However, they were probably wanting to keep the costs down.

But I especially agree with the aspect of the carbonite being able to raise straight up and down, instead of swinging down.

You are probably right, since Luke and Vader already have the Final Duel Set and Lego doesnt want to repeat certain themes too heavy.

Still a shame in my books, since I actually think that the Bespin Duel would deserve a Set (Maybe the end with the legendary line of vader), it is even more memorable to me than the Final Duel.

I would also love a new version of Bespin Luke with his lightsaber, but the only way now that the scene will ever have a chance of being realized would probably be as a part of a new Cloud City and we all know how high the chances are for that right? :cry_sad:

Ugnaught looks amazing. I'm extremely puzzled as to why they opted to put an elevator off to the side rather than have one as the main function of the set. The spinning deal looks pretty silly.

Not a bad little set. I will pick it up eventually for Boba Fett and the Ugnaught. It appears there are no connector pins to suggest a future Cloud City set for attachment. The omission of Luke and Vader is understandable due to the recent release of Final Duel. My biggest concern would be how to get Lando and Lobot into a set? A CC duel set would pretty much focus on Luke and Vader. Other than that, there are not a whole lot of Cloud City locations I could think of that would have the required action and play features. You have passageways, the dining room, and maybe the droid scrap room.

Pretty neat. That Ugnaught is top-notch! But why the folding staircase? Thanks for the review!

I think the staircase folds up to mimic the upward flight of stairs that Luke confronts Vader at next to the platform. When it's flipped up it actually represents the lights in each stair quite well. Aside from the Ugnaughts that is really the only aspect of this set that impressed me. The freezing mechanism is bizarre, and it seems like this is the hundredth time a variation of Han frozen in carbonite (or just prior or after freezing) has appeared. There is so much more that has been neglected, especially from Bespin that would have worked better.

Dood! I watched Empire Strikes Back last night after I posted about that folding staircase, and during the lightsaber duel, I totally had that same thought! Great minds think alike! :sweet: The question remains, however, what would you connect the upturned staircase to? Is this staircase the mythical 'connection point' to another Bespin set that we have been looking for?

Even if you bought 2 of these, you still can't make a complete platform.

Plus, the absence of stormtroopers, Leia, Chewy, C3PO, Lando, Vader, Bespin guards?

Sorry, but I think TLG missed the mark on this one.

Yeah, don't forget the absence of the Slave I, the Executor, Luke's X-Wing, R2-D2, the Millennium Falcon, Imperial officers, Willrow Hood, a Cloud Car, generic Bespin minifigures, the Cloud City dining room, torture chamber, and the Ugnaught junk room.

Lighten up, people! It's just a $20-$30 set with a surprisingly outstanding minifigure lineup. Save your criticism for when Lego botches the UCS Bespin set. (Not to presuppose that they will botch it)

With Boba and Han figs already out there, one unique figure is a "surprisingly outstanding minifigure lineup"? Not quite.

Gotta agree with this... the Ugnaught looks fantastic, but you've got a Han identical to the Slave I, with only a new head as improvement over the 2012 version, and a Boba that's slightly lesser than the Slave I version and not terribly different from the 2012 one either. Another Bespin Guard, a stormtrooper, Lando, Bespin Escape Leia...might've been nice to have ONE of those in there. And the play features seem a bit odd.

Thanks for the review, tho! Nice to see it all.

Indeed. I'd still like to see it first before I made a decision about the set. I'm guessing it would be pretty close to a complete platform - I'd want to see how many studs in the gap. Looking forward to some clever mods of this one - including the overhead assembly of canisters and a proper functioning wench.

I can't see any way that simply putting two of these back-to-back will complete the chamber - mainly as the lift section is a 6x6 stud square, not tapered like the other segments. That said, I think it'll be reasonable to buy 2 complete sets, sell the Boba Fett and Han/Carbonite figures for pretty much the price of the set on eBay, then use the 2 sets to build something more substantial. Plus, you'll have 2 ugnaughts and someone else will get themselves a cheap Boba and Han - everyone's a winner!

I do like this set, although I would have liked to have seen a new Lando in this. I have displayed this with darth vader, two stormtrooper a, Lando and a bespin guard. In order to enable the full effect.

I was going to include leia, chewbacca however it would result in it being far too cluttered.
