Kai NRG Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Dearest members of the High Council, as you undoubtly have noticed, have the redcoats setlled on our beautiful island. This would be no problem, since Corrington is a good friend of ours. But they have decided to move a part of their army there! I'm a... line striped trough ... and hencefor I'd like you to decide quickly on the matter Lord de la Manzana has brought for. When deciding though, please remember that I have already built a fort there. But this fort is small, and bigger forts are quit expensive... scratch in the paper ...urs sincerely, Lady Elysabeth of Drondil The important date is before the end of the month, which we will be sure to do. The main problem is just me trying to wrap my head around all the rules - I want to be sure whatever moves we make are strategic! With regards to the fort, there's a limit on fort size/quantity relative to settlement size, I think Elysabethtown is at or very near that limit? Otherwise, and in the future, a fort might be an investment the crown would consider (after all, it's our job to protect the citizens!). Quote
TitusV Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) I'm glad to hear that! Yes, we're at the limit, but that won't stay for long! Anyway, here's my new freebuild, and the result of the duel! And a second freebuild! The story continues! Edited February 12, 2016 by TitusV Quote
SkaForHire Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Right now, moving some troops to the settlement would be more than adequate to add to its defense. Lord Elysabeth might want to consider that Corrington is moving troops to Port Raleigh as a defensive measure against raiders and hostile natives, and not an arms race. Quote

Tezclatipoca Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Don't worry, Lady Elysabeth, Lord Felipe de la Manzana is at work for that. We have already engaged diplomatic talks with Corrington and have an agreement. The move Corrington is doing with Her Majesty's troops is for defensive purposes. We, in Eslandola, just should do the same. That's why I officially asked the King to do so as he is the one who can decide such a move. Quote
TitusV Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I think I updated the images of my two latest FBs to be larger. Could someone confirm that please? Quote

Legostone Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) I, Jerome Monezterell, hereby declare allegiance with Eslandola. I have never been really poor. I grew up in a community of merchants, and thats what I will continue doing. I know all men of my crew, as I've grown up with them. At the moment I am sadly unable to sail from port to port as all of my ships are either unfinished or in the drydock, as they've been heavily damaged a few months ago during a bad storm. One of them is almost ready to sail again though. You may have noticed that chest I'm letting one of my crewman carry around. You'll not find out what is inside it tough... ___ I hope I've done this right. One of the Ships that is getting "fixed up" is this Schooner (which I obviously can't afford yet). Still need a name for it:P Just a WIP, not even close to being done with it. I hope I can get those 350 DB before finishing her up, even though I doubt that is possible:P (getting 350 DB before finishing her up, that is) Edited February 14, 2016 by Legostone Quote
Bregir Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) Welcome to BoBS, Jerome Monezterell. A nice intro! As to your schooner, I would suggest you compare it to the other ships in the index. I think you will find that her size would fit perfectly within class 2, or perhaps class 3. Class 2 would allow you to register her presently under the free license. (BTW, she is looking really nice) The classes are more about size and role than about the type of rigging on the ship, and the shiptypes mentioned are only examples. This would definitely be small for a class 5! Edited February 14, 2016 by Bregir Quote

This would definitely be small for a class 5! Actually she's bigger than you might think - just a bit longer than a 3 mid-section ship. Most of the examples given for class 5 ships in the MRCA Thread are actually 3 mid-section ships. Also, as you may see her stern is far from finished, she'll most likely be about as long as the Skulls Eye Schooner. But I never planned to register her anytime soon anyways, first I'll build a pair of smaller ships I'll sent out this month - should be doable:P Quote
Maxim I Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Welcome Legostone to Bobs! If your character is looking to join a Trade Company with huge potential, MAESTRO would be honoured to have Jerome Monezterrel in their ranks :) About the beautifull looking schooner, you can always underlicence a ship and upgrade the licence once you got enough db's :) Quote
TitusV Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Welcome indeed, LegoStone! You have a nice fig, and degenitely joined the right guild! As Maxim said: if you're ever in need of a trade Company, MAESTRO would be glad to have you! This might also make collecting 350DBs a lot easier... Quote

I am looking forward to see her done, with all the details on, and to see her cannons (<-mods, I don't get a warning for that one? ). Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Welcome Legostone ! Nice intro and great schooner ! The stern needs work, as you said, as she seems smaller than a class 5, I am not sure what category you could register this vessel, but probably a class 4 or 5. In the beginning of the game, it's totally doable to register a class 4 trade if you share with other players. To do so, being in a trade company is the best option for Eslandola citizens. Of course, MAESTRO would be happy to have you on board ! :) In MAESTRO, We are at hard work in Berelli, the first frontline of Eslandola colonial development ! And having more hands to help would be very welcome ! Quote
kabel Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 Bienvenidos Jerome! It's an utmost pleasure to see you helping the Eslandolan endeavour in becoming even wealthier and of course more powerful! Quote
Kai NRG Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Welcome to Eslandola! That schooner is looking really nice so far! And since MAESTRO has been so inviting, I feel like I should just say - MCTC! Quote
Garmadon Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Very nice looking schooner and intro, Jerome Monezterell, welcome to Eslandola! And the ETWC would be very glad to have you (and we are the best! ) Quote

Fuzzy MacFuzz Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Does anyone know how the skills tree thing is supposed to work? The skills tree rules page doesn't really explain it. Amyway, if I may I'd like to nominate Capt. Wolf to whatever the process is for the agriculture skill, for his splendid build 'Cotton plantation on An Holli' Quote
Bregir Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Does anyone know how the skills tree thing is supposed to work? The skills tree rules page doesn't really explain it. Amyway, if I may I'd like to nominate Capt. Wolf to whatever the process is for the agriculture skill, for his splendid build 'Cotton plantation on An Holli' It will be introduced later in the game. (Probably in the next few months) My guess is that it will work by setting a number of milestones barring specific traits. A completely made up example could be that by building X ships (or different classes of ships) you gain the trait "shipwright" and get a 10 % discount on licensing ships, or some modifier to income. Or by building one of the commerce building type in all the player nations, you gain the the trait "Mercantilist" and gain 20 % bonus to income from buildings. In short, through proving different building skills or a degree of commitment, you can gain titles and in-game bonusses. However, this is merely a (qualified) guess, as we haven't really heard that much yet! Patience, my young padawan! Quote
Captain Dee Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 (edited) The Character Development Skills Tree / Achievement System is based heavily on the University of Petraea Doctorate of Historica program in Guilds of Historica and its main intention will be to improve BoBS builders' skills by requiring them to demonstrate mastery of many different types of building skills, but it will be a voluntary program. Members not participating in gameplay will earn titles; members participating in gameplay will reap other benefits related to the game as well as the titles, just as Bregir mentioned. At least that's what's been planned so far. Give it a month or so. The best cure for impatience is building. Edited February 19, 2016 by Captain Dee Quote
