Dr. Brick Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 (edited) Hello all,Im an employee of Vestas uk,they have recently announced they will be giving ALL 17,000 employees a set of the Vestas wind turbine lego (4999). I'll post again when we recieve ours here in the uk,when we do it will be worth watching e-bay. The last time we recived a gift from Vestas e-bay was full of them within a week! Im keeping mine!! Thanks for the good news. You're a lucky man. If you allready know somebody who doesn't want one... Dr. Brick Edited September 20, 2008 by Dr. Brick Quote
legotrainfan Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 and if they do put it up on e-bay you might get one for a reasonable price as they havent a clue what they are worth. It may be true that they won't have a clue how precious they are, but AFOLS know it and some of them'll be willing to pay a high price for them. Maybe they will be cheaper if a lot of them pop up on eBay; maybe the sets will reach high prices nevertheless. I don't know. I'll remain sceptical... and disappointed because it is not released for the general public. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Thanks for the good news. You're a lucky man. If you allready no somebody who doesn't want one... Dr. Brick I totally agree with Dr. Brick - if you know somebody then please inform me, too! Klaus-Dieter Quote
JopieK Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Are there already instructions somewhere? I need the sizes of the windmill for a sticker question of our beloved Dutch Ambassador (Paul). He sent me a scan but not the sizes. Quote

I stay still sceptic about an affordable price of this awsome set , too, because: Firstly not all sets (of these people which don't want to keep them but to sale them) will be on ebay at the same time. Secondly people surely look at the auctions on ebay at the moment. So they'll know how much this set is in demand and conseuquently they surely will not sell it for an affordable price. Thirdly 1700 sets are on the one hand very many sets. But on the other hand surely some of the Vestas members will keep this set. And there is a huge mass of AFOLs which want this set - and which have a lot of money to buy this set. These are all reasons why I can't imagine this amazing set will be sold for an affordable and fair price. With affordable and fair price I mean something between 100 and 150 Euros - more wouldn't be fair and more I would gail to see and mainly wouldn't be aible to pay! But since Vestas gives not only their customers but even their members this brilliant set as a present I could imagine a bit - and surely I'm hoping - that TLG or Vestas will sell this excellent set to us in some time, too. So let's hope. Klaus-Dieter Quote
Gouns Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 OMG http://cgi.ebay.fr/LEGO-no-4999-Vestas-tur...p3286.m63.l1177 That abuse is a scandal ! There are no bids, given the price it is not surprising. Quote
Lasse D Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 There is also a positive side to this - think of all the space we safe, us who have been turned off because of this abuse I hope the price of the set will be found to be more than 500Kr, then at least Vestas has to pay tax for it. Who is up for a Siemens Windmill community build? Quote
maiq the liar Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 So, we're not getting it? Aww, crap. Quote
Badsneaker Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 This is so crazy! Why doesn't LEGO make something like this available to the general public? Don't they realize how many of these they could sell? Quote
Dr. Brick Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) Isn't this a sign that, seeing that LEGO is producing more of the sets, it will be put into mass production? Dr. Brick Edited September 20, 2008 by Dr. Brick Quote
Zarkan Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Just a word of reminder, guys: Whung's 2009 list did have a Vestas set on it, so a release to the general public may be possible next year. I know the list was classified as speculation, but a ton of it has already been proven true - so don't count the Vestas set out yet. Quote

And I must say that I believe in whung's list, too. But yesterday I served through ebay and there a seller of this awesome set wrote that it will never be sold to public (source as long as this auction is taking place). So . But it might of course even be that the seller lies or he doesn't know about a public release. Klaus-Dieter Quote

Hinckley Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 From LEGO S&H:Part 1 Part 2 CopMike That's fascinating that the scans are on Shop at Home! I think that's a very good sign for getting this set released. Keeping my fingers crossed Quote
Dr. Brick Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 And S@H also calls it 'Vestas Product', which is the same as on Whung's list... Let's hope... Dr. Brick Quote
Norrington Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Ah, very good. I was unaware that the lights on the house went on! It's a great set, and it would be a huge mistake by LEGO if there was no mainstream-release. Besides, doesn't LEGO wanna teach every child about the wonders of alternative and responsible energy? I wanna hydroelectric dam! Quote
metalandi Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I remember the inxtructions already beeing up a few weeks ago, but they have been taken off again shortly after that. Now that they are online again that's a good sign maybe! Quote
JopieK Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 well indeed looks like a normal set... just today I created NUON and Eneco stickers for one of our Dutch Ambassadors ;) Quote
Jones Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Hey, check this out! Interesting. What was the delay between the Maersk promo release and the same set showing up at S@H? Anyone remember? I wonder, if TLC does decide to release it, (which I'm not convinced is going to happen) about how soon it show up in the catalogue. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 From LEGO S&H:Part 1 Part 2 CopMike Thank you very much for that information, Copmike! And S@H also calls it 'Vestas Product', which is the same as on Whung's list...Let's hope... Dr. Brick I totally agree with you, Dr. Brick! So there is luckily hope! When do you think that TLG will - if they do - release this set next year? Klaus-Dieter Quote

Klaus-Dieter If we are to trust Whung's list, which I do trust, I suspect it to be released at the beginning of the year, seeing that most of the sets on that list are january releases...
