Brickdoctor Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 EDIT: BTW, what's the torso in your current avatar Brickdoctor? I believe it's the PoP Princess's. (it's for a game, so I didn't make it) the dreams Anakin had could also be caused by Sideous "friggin' around with midichlorians" to manipulate The Force or some crap. I think I remember reading somewhere that that was caused by Sideous's performing Sith rituals on Coruscant. But that leads into a weighting of the different levels of canonicity, which we... probably shouldn't get into. Agreed. Quote
The Legonater Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Personally, the whole 'Anakin's birth' is one of those things I've just tried to keep a distance from, and maintain what little knowaldge about it I have. James Luceno is a great writer though, so I might pick this one up. I believe it's the PoP Princess's. (it's for a game, so I didn't make it) Nah, it's the dress in the Temple of Doom set Quote
Praiter Yed Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 (edited) I always assumed from watching that scene that either Darth Plagueis or Darth Sideous (could be either, as Palpatine said the master taught the apprentice everything he knew) had created Anakin using the force. I had also assumed that he was talking about himself when referring to the apprentice, not that it was ever stated explicitly. It actually made sense of the "there was no father" weird crap from Episode I, and the dreams Anakin had could also be caused by Sideous "friggin' around with midichlorians" to manipulate The Force or some crap. Doesn't Palpatine say that he doesn't posses this knowledge but suggests that he and Anakin might discover it together? I can't really remember, but lets face it, the guy can't be trusted anyway, who knows what lies he's telling to manipulate Anakin. IMO it would be better for the story arc if Sideous was responsible for Anakin's birth - then ultimately Vader would kill his own father - fits with the whole mythological aspect of SW. Personally, the whole 'Anakin's birth' is one of those things I've just tried to keep a distance from, and maintain what little knowaldge about it I have. I agree, it's nice to have a little ambiguity on the subject but ultimately if the truth is revealed I'll find it too tempting not to find out . Edited July 13, 2011 by Praiter Yed Quote

A number of (real) people believed the first story as the true one and the others as lies, whereas I suggested the first could be a lie too... just because it doesn't contradict what you aready know doesn't mean it's true! Praiter Yed Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 (edited) Anybody read about Joe Johnston wanting to make a Boba Fett movie? More here. EDIT: Sorry if this has already surfaced elsewhere. Edited July 19, 2011 by Praiter Yed Quote
The Legonater Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Meh, Geroge won't go for it. If anything he'll hire the director for his live-action series. That's the closest he's going to get to his dreamed Boba Fett movie. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Nice. I might end up getting this after all. Though I did notice that not all of them were never seen before - Wampa chasing R2 and Luke spotting the Tantive IV aren't new. Quote
Churchill Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I'd never seen the Wampa chasing R2 before, that's cool. The wampa looks a lot more... "animated" than the one in the cave. I hope that choice of words makes sense. What it the one with something on the hand? Quote
The Legonater Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Who wants OT deleted scenes? http://www.youtube.c...player_embedded Nice. To bad I can't afford this or a Blu-Ray. I might have to manuever a friend or two into getting this so I can watch it... But as the Doc said, not all are new. I certainly recognise the sandstorm scenes. There's a few Ep.3 scenes that were never included on the DVD- I wonder if those will make it. Quote

simonjedi Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Blu-ray news! http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/blog/article/234525/star-wars-the-complete-sagaexclusive-trailer.html FIX THE GORRAM LIGHTSABERS and... http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/41508/star-wars-blu-ray-reveals-new-content The ILM duo also revealed that some work was needed before the original trilogy was fit for Blu-ray, although fans will be happy that was confined to improving the picture quality, rather than fiddling with the films themselves: "The interesting thing about Star Wars and the Star Wars series of films is that they’ve been restored two or three times in the past decade, and so they were in pretty good shape to begin with.," said Bill George. Brickdoctor Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I think I like the 1997 version better. Pink lightsaber = Though Vader himself looks better. Great to hear we won't get any new content. Any chances of them removing the 1997 content? Quote
LandShark Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 It's definitely good to hear they won't be making any changes for the Blu-ray release. I wonder if they'll add/remove/change anything for the 3D releases. Quote

simonjedi Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Pink lightsaber = looks more like purple to me. *Waits for George Lucas to make up some megablocks about how Vader stole Mace's Saber crystal because it was a link to the past and it was actually his original vision back in '77 and the Blu-rays can finally help him achieve that.* Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 looks more like purple to me. Eh, purple looks more like this: Quote
The Legonater Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Great to hear we won't get any new content. Any chances of them removing the 1997 content? I don't get what's so horrible about the 97 content. Or the 04 content for that matter- minus the horrid job Mourisson did as Boba Fett. Quote
simonjedi Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Some of the changes are alright. Most of them are just pointless additions, that don't add much. The only other 'George Lucas, what the shit?' change is replacing Old Anakin with creepy starimg, Child murderin' Wife strangling, young Anakin. Quote
Mr Man Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Blu-ray news! Eh ,a step backwards? All they had to do was remove the old spinning lightsabre blades and CGI them like the prequel ones (not the ROTS ones) and make sure to colours matches the prequel ones. In the special edition disk I have Vader's sabre is sometimes pink or orange, and Luke's (in Ben's hut) is sometimes colourless or green, and the sabres are to thin, so CGIing them to match the prequels is all they needed to do, not mess the colours up completely. Quote
Fallenangel Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I don't get what's so horrible about the 97 content. Or the 04 content for that matter- minus the horrid job Mourisson did as Boba Fett. There are various negative points, but one particular addition I found bothersome was the way they added in so many more vehicles and scenery into various scenes that really should have been more focused on the characters (the obvious example being Ben's Jedi mind trick sequence in Mos Eisley). As simonjedi mentioned, they don't really add much to the storytelling element and ultimately clutters up the screen. As fitting as starship wreckage and Jawa humor may have seemed to Lucas when he was remaking these films, they don't really need to be there. The same goes for all the huge windows they put into Cloud City and dancing CGI aliens. Quote
