Klaus-Dieter Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Does anyone know when pics arrive? Do we have to wait to an upcoming toy fair and when is the next one? Since it wasn't revealed at NY Toy Fair I fear that pics won't arrive earlier than one month before releases - so let's say in about May. Here are the confidental pics of the Lego Truck and the Farmer Impulse from whung's BS gallery: Thank you very much for these pics, whung! The Farmer Impulse is really disappointing. With the most people which will buy it surely already bought the Farm set, the dog and the total standard farmer are absolutely dispensable. And the really bad designed feed lots (of which the food immediately falls out after having put it inside and with a water bucket without water-tap) is absolutely dispensable since we already have got two in the Piglets Enclosure And Tractor set. So the only interesting and senseful content that remains is the pig. At least they could have included a brick-built chicken instead of the dog and a boy, girl or grandmother instead of the total standard farmer. The Lego Truck is awesome! I really like to see that the final version will include that many micro sets like the confidential version showed (I count eight ). It's even great that there will be doors in the cab as well as on the side and the back of the truck. And the bed inside the cab (TF pictures) is of course a very nice addition. Btw: How much do you think that the awesome 4083 City House will cost? I would go for 50 Euros (the same price like City Corner). 7641 includes a big vehicle (the bus) and a small second building and three minfigs - therefore we've got (supposably and hopefully) a more involved interior in the City House, a big baseplate and a big garden with lots of details. What do you think? Klaus-Dieter Quote
danim Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 has anyone thought that the elivated train could be a cable car since lego already has done one but on a small scale Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I totally agree with 'Klaus-Dieter' - the impulse is a let down - the farmer should have had a garden hose to fill the blue bucket and I guess the feed lot is that way because of the height of the pigs head. It will still sell well as a stocking stuffer at Christmas or a birthday party goodie bag gift for the guests. Now the truck is BEYOND AWESOME and I want at least one or maybe 4 - hello Toll Ipec ! It will sell out for sure, can't wait for more pictures including the you-know-what TRU set.......that reminds me to place a phone call today. I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 (edited) has anyone thought that the elivated train could be a cable car since lego already has done one but on a small scale We already talked about that, Daniel, but it does not seem very likely since a cable car would need much space on your road plates (either directly on the road or on the sidewalk). But at the moment nothing is for sure. Firstly I was very sure that we'll get an elevated train - but after the very true argument with which Svelte came up it does now not seem to be very likely to me, too. So only time will tell us. I totally agree with 'Klaus-Dieter' - the impulse is a let down - the farmer should have had a garden hose to fill the blue bucket and I guess the feed lot is that way because of the height of the pigs head. It will still sell well as a stocking stuffer at Christmas or a birthday party goodie bag gift for the guests. I agree with you, lightningtiger, that the Farmer Impulse set is a nice set on its own - e. g. as a small gift. But it is a bad set when you see it as and want to use it for the Farm theme as whole. lightningtiger Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 has anyone thought that the elivated train could be a cable car since lego already has done one but on a small scale Now I'm assuming a American cable car that is operated by an underground cable. No, an electric tram or in the US known as a street car might be due - here in my home town of Adelaide we have been using for a little while now German built trams. I'm a conformist! everyone ! danim Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 what I am meaning is something similar to this Klaus Dieter, I do not think it would take up that much room on the baseplate, just a 4 stud space then get one of these towers on top of each other with long 10 stud plates creating a high rail with the cable car hanging from it in some way so the space is in the air rather than on the baseplate Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 So that what you are on about, that kind of cable car...........hmm. No.......tell me which city in the world has these, there are a few of course where heights need to be overcome to get to resorts or points of interest (famous historic places) for people to visit. The TRU set is public transport, everyday people transport, buses, taxis, trains and trams - even ferries on the bay ! Nice idea though ! Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 (edited) what I am meaning is something similar to this[...] Klaus Dieter, I do not think it would take up that much room on the baseplate, just a 4 stud space then get one of these towers on top of each other with long 10 stud plates creating a high rail with the cable car hanging from it in some way so the space is in the air rather than on the baseplate Sorry, Daniel, I had problems with translating the word cable car since it can even mean tram. But a cableway you mean is imo totally excluded: There could be only two stations and only a straight way between them. Plus if they wanted to have the cable cars in a realistic size and design I'm even not sure whether the cable would hold them. A cableway for a winter theme with small cable cars going up and down a hill lays imo not too far away - but for inside our Lego Cities it's imo too special. But everything can happen. The TRU set is public transport, everyday people transport, buses, taxis, trains and trams - even ferries on the bay !Nice idea though ! Yes, indeed. I bet that we'll get a ferry, a cableway, a bus, two taxis, a tram and an elevated train in this set. Plus minimum twenty minifigs and a ton full of accessory. And that all for only 100 Euros. Now seriously: A ferry surely won't be included in 8404 - but I really would like one as/in a seperate set! (Civilian) Ships are still an underpriviledged part of Lego City. So let's hope for next year that we'll hopefully get a new cargo harbor and a yacht - and hopefully even a pleasure cruiser as S@H Exclusive in 2011 or later. danim Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 (edited) not every cable car/ cableway system goes in a straight line for example the alton towers cable car system can go round bends as well as having three stations http://www.towersalmanac.com/areas/rides.php?id=30 Lightning Tiger The Roosevelt Island Tramway is right in the middle of New York connecting Mannhatten and Roosevelt Island and is used every day by commuters Edited March 21, 2010 by danim Quote

Just look at the towers involved, just like the 60cm high crane I once built and for such a small car as compared to a regular train or tram car - kids big and small love things that run on rails. Etzel Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 The farmer impulse looks like a good way to get pigs if you don't want the entire pig farm and tractor set. I agree, it's great for everyone that wants a cheap way to get pigs. I'm not interested in the tractor or shed in the 7684, just the pigs Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 The farmer impulse looks like a good way to get pigs if you don't want the entire pig farm and tractor set. Agreed, but on that note I would've preferred to see cows over pigs. The pig farm isn't that costly and I might consider picking it up, but the Farm set just isn't on my list, and even if I did get the Medieval Village I'd probably keep the cows with it... So I'd have preferred a quick way of grabbing up a few cows rather than just pigs, of which I'll have four if I do grab the farm & tractor. Quote
Wildblue Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I'm one of those that voted over, and over, and over, for the Public City Transport in the TRU votes. I figure that we all JUST got a city square from Lego. And we already have a couple different versions of truck stops. (not to mention truck stops aren't exactly exciting stuff) But if we can get a bus station, with multiple busses, trains, or combinations, maybe with a nice building along the lines of Grand Central Station, or another monorail-type tram, THEN we've got a special set that I want to add to my collection!!! You did what ?! Voted over and over, I voted once for truck stop ! One city square of sorts in Town Plan, the last proper truck stop was in 1987 and at 160 bucks Aussie I don't think it will be Grand Central Station or a dam monorail - and who said truck stops and therefore trucks NOT exciting ! It doesn't seem fair to everyone by registering more than one vote or is that just me. We still are guessing at what public transport is - I have not heard back from TRU as they promised me so even I am still in the dark. Anyway I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
Matt Dawson Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) It was quite easy to re-vote in the poll - get a new IP adress... But this topic has over 100 pages, most of the last 10 are about the TRU Choice - but no picture. Edited March 26, 2010 by Matt Dawson Quote
Ravenxl7 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) Just curious, I have a question for anybody who owns the Small Car set. Is the hair piece on the minifigure black or dark brown? I'm thinking about using it for a Harry Potter minifigure, but can't tell what color it exactly is. Thanks in advance for any help with this. Edit: Nevermind, I've found the review of the set The hairpiece is definitely a shade of dark brown, instead of the black I was hoping it would be. Oh well, the shape of it would have made for a perfect hair piece for Harry Potter, who's hair piece has always seemed way too big for his head). Edited March 26, 2010 by Ravenxl7 Quote

lightningtiger Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) Er, gang .......BIG PROBLEM ! Read the following (just checked my emails - sorry it came over 3 days ago.) Well I don't think a top secret set (possibly the best kept secret in lego history!) would show up on that email. Like Matt Dwason said a lot of pages are contributed to this speculation, unless we have any news or pics of this set we should stop saying," I voted for... alot of time so it will probably win," This is spamming up City 2010 tread and I think it should stop. -Rant over- The lego truck looks really nice, I really like the way it has a sleeper cab. This will go great with the Grand Emporium. This si a must for my tabltown. Quote

legoboy3998 Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Just looking at the Brickset! website and noticed in their 2010 City list of products: "8404 City Public Transport City - USA Toys R Us 'Fan choice' 2010 (Not yet released) " Considering Brickset has a policy of for reporting confirmed info and not speculation, I would think this means it is fairly well confirmed that, at least in the USA, there will be a "City Public Transport" as the TRU Exclusive 8404 Sal WFB, WI Quote

Thanks for the tip (I wasn't sure what previous sets the hair piece had come in). I was first considering the car as it's currently out, and as such quite easy to get. I'll probably end up just waiting for the second series to the Minifigs to come out. The Weightlifter and Surfer minifigures appear to have hair pieces that'll work for my purposes. I still might get the car, as it looks nice, and the hoody and briefcase could be useful. Quote
