WhiteFang Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Dear Eurobricks Community, It has been a year since the Eurobricks Reviewers Academy was established, and today we are here to celebrate our first anniversary. The Reviewers Academy started off with 11 teachers, each using their unique expertise to help new recruits develop and improve their reviewing skills in the key areas of photography, structure and textual discussion. Those students who have completed the program by producing 9 reviews of distinction themselves have joined the ranks of the teachers; in all, 13 additional graduates have become teachers, swelling the total rank of teachers to an impressive 24. These teachers help to guide students who want to learn the many aspects of making a LEGO set review excel, in turn greatly benefiting the LEGO community as a whole by providing detailed insights into sets in a concerted effort that is without precedent in the AFOL community. To date, more than 200 members are part of The Reviewers Academy whom have contributed a vast amount of their time in producing more than 350 LEGO set reviews, an average of 1 new LEGO set review appearing in Eurobricks each day, sharing their insights and the love of their hobby. Therefore, on behalf of The Reviewers Academy, we would like to show our appreciation and thanks to these groups of people, and encourage them to continue keeping their reviewing spirit alive. Below is a selection of some the best reviews done by the many outstanding reviewers The Reviewers Academy has on staff and has trained. Share your thoughts and questions with us, and the teachers will be glad to be here to assist you. Thanks to all for a fantastic year of reviews! Rick Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 (edited) This is a 'thank you'-thread? I just assume it is. I'm sure EB produces the best reviews in the whole AFOL community and the Reviewers Academy ensures that all reviews here continue to be of such a high level. So, a big THANK YOU to all people who participate in the Reviewers Academy! Keep up the good work. Edited August 22, 2009 by Rick Quote

The Rancor Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I also need to thank the teachers (especially of Star Wars and Indy such as Svelte and def) not only for their teachings but providing great reviews which sometimes have persuaded me to buy a set even if I didn't seem it worthy. But its a thanks to everyone really (Svelte and def aren't the only ones who need a lot of credit ) Quote
def Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I also need to thank the teachers (especially of Star Wars and Indy such as Svelte and def) ... Wow, thanks The Reviewer's Academy really made a man out of me. I came out of my dark ages about a year ago, and signed up here last November. I didn't quite know how to approach the AFOL community, but I knew I wanted to get more involved online. I live in Okinawa, Japan, so beyond the language barrier, I just know nobody who is into Lego here. On top of that, I'm not a MOC specialist. What's a person to do? So, I did some reviews of the sets I had to fill in the holes of the Star Wars index, but then decided to join the Academy, to see what it was about. My first review was an absolute fail and had to take my pics all over again . But, quickly, I was able to get some shooting and editing tips, to the point that by the time I got my bronze badge, my reviews were 95% good to go. The advice really boosted the quality of my reviews, and made me want to do more. It's more fun to do stuff when you do it somewhat well. Lastly, the new students like trying new techniques, and here and there I "borrow" from them, and have even better reviews. Thanks to Whitefang , and all the teachers who gave me such good, positive advice. The Academy has been a great way to take my hobby to the next level. Quote
Big Cam Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Congratulations EB, great work. I plan on contributing to it's success soon. Quote
Perterz Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Yes, I've seen great reviews on this site, excellent quality! Some even persuaded me to buy a certain set which I otherwise would never look at in detail.. Happy anniversary, top stuff Quote
