I have been interested in LEGO City construction vehicles including road roller. However, 7746 is really too big and looks like a monster, while the newly launched 30003 is probably unaccessible... As such, I built the following MOC recently.

img_4303_small.jpg

Major characteristics include:

1. Medium-size with comparable scale to the smaller 7630 and 7631 official-design construction vehicles instead of 7746 or 7685

2. Main colour theme using red and dark red, with black and grey to assist

3. Roller mainly comprising technic parts, connected to vehicle body by a rotation joint which makes it freely turning left or right

4. Roller truly able to roll on road when the vehicle moves

I found the vehicle somehow looks really like a small lobster, probably because of the red colour theme and the roller using wedges at the sides, and so I named it "the Lobster". :alien:

One obvious weakness of my MOC is the roller not having "smooth" rolling drum, but that was because I don't really have enough this part :sadnew: :

Hope you enjoy and appreciate any positive or negative comments. Thanks!

The major strength of this vehicle is being not excessively bulky, as demonstrated by its length.

The front view really looks like a lobster...

Its heavy duty of workload requires a correspondingly powerful engine!

Mechanisms have been added to facilitate our minifig worker to go into the steering compartment.

The roller is capable of turning left and right by using a rotation joint.

Its scale is comparable to 7630 and 7631.

Thanks again for watching! :classic:

Looks very good I like the way you made the drum. Could you resize the pictures please, it takes quite a while to download them. :hmpf_bad:

That's a great MOC for a Lego Town! I think this is the best roller MOC ever!

That's the best road roller ever! The lobster look really comes through, was that done intentionally form the beginning or did it just end up looking like one?

Your pictures are far too big though, I think you should re-size them :classic:

Batbrick Away!

Hey Alywin,

Eurobricks has a maximum image size policy of 800x600 to keep loading times down for those with slower connections. You can find a tutorial on resizing images here. Your MOC is quite impressive, but with smaller images, you are more likely to get more feedback.

Nice MOC! Imaginative design and really detailed

Thanks for everyone's feedback. Resizing done. Hope you guys can enjoy more comfortably!

@Batbrick:

I didn't intend to build it as a lobster, it just became to look like pretty much a lobster when I finished the first version. When I refined it a bit into the final one, I did intentionally use the dark red wedges at the sides of the roller though to keep "consistent" with its lobster outlook...:laugh:

Excellent job!

Truly nice MOC. Looks really good!

Really well done! It is just the right size, I like how you mixed curves and angles, and the detailing is great.
