lego-maniac Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Hi Everybody. As I've said few weeks ago, here is the Stud Parc ! This Moc is for a french contest. (I'll think you'll see amazing Moc until the end of the month on EB from other guys) First, here is a video . I've taken lot of pics, I'll post later. Hope you'll enjoy Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 One word .........AWESOME ! Just awesome 'legomaniac', how do you move the cars - magnets of some kind ! Did we not see the bumper car ride first in the Star Wars forum a while back - because with all the other details - it screams fun times at the fun fair. Hey like if you want to eat Italian you can, if you love spooky places too - yes and do sharks scare you ? Great build and design 'legomaniac' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
the Inventor Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Awesome work, lego-maniac I would also like to know how you move the cars. A really great fun-fair moc. Well done. the Inventor Quote
Rufus Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Wow. That's a fantastic concept, and brilliantly realised. I like the way the bumper cars turn the glitter ball, but I'm also intrigued as to how you get them to move! It seems the beauty of this MOC has attracted characters from other themes. My only criticism would be the back floor, which I found a little distracting, but don't listen to me, and good luck in the contest! Quote
lego-maniac Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 Hi first, I'm totally sad because of the ground..... I Hate Stud First I would like to build in Snot but, no more bricks.... After, I've decided to do the ground in Dark Grey, or any grey but not enought plate... so I've used Black.... I've tried to recover it with tile but once more, not enough parts....so .... For the moving of the bumber cars, I've used Magnet. But trough a lying brick, it's not easy. I've used 2 magnets for the cars and under the floor, there is 3 articulated arms with 4 magnet each The problem is that even the under magnet are not to close of the floor, it doesn't work. So I've build a box just for the magnet (I'll post a picture soon) For the glitter ball, it's really fun. It missed only poor techno in this moc and the smell of "Barbapapa" ... Thanks for your comments Quote
lego-maniac Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 some pics available on my Flickr's Page Enjoy ! Quote
lego-maniac Posted March 26, 2010 Author Posted March 26, 2010 here is some construction details the moving machine all moduls are independant as you can see and a 360° view from the center of the Stud Race Hope pictures answer your questions :) Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 You've got a whole City sub-theme going here - love watching the bumper cars going bump. The Aquarium structure looks really neat as well. Quote
jaredchan Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I really like the bumper cars as well, will you be building more motorized amusement rides? Great job! Quote
lego-maniac Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 Really thanks for your coments ! I've do not plan to build over motorized amusements and the Moc is already disassembled. Hope I'll have some vote for the contest but there is a lot of incredible creations.... I do not really like technics axes and motors, and it's a bit to complexe for my 6 years son, so I used it only to increase the MOC and to add something more than the overs. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 That's an absolutely amazing fair, lego-maniac! I really it! It looks absolutely realistic and with these many details ... You put there everything a decent fair needs (apart from a caroussel and a ferris wheel): car scooter, snack bars, candy stalls, haunted house ... And the cars of the car scooter can even drive in reality! The most I like the car scooter and the small stalls. Like already mentioned on this page of the topic for Ideas for new City sets, I really would like to get a Fair theme - or at least one exclusive set similar to 10184 with a Ferris wheel, a candy stall and a shooting gallery - since every decent and big Lego City needs a fair! Apart from that I'm sure kids would love a fair theme/set! Very, very well done! Klaus-Dieter Quote
lego-maniac Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 hi ! the Ferris Wheel has been begun. but, I do not have enough place to intergrate it on my Moc. Moreover, it was a little bit to big so I've decided to forget it.... The carroussel already exist on the shop and I don't like to do something already exist. My only regret is to do not have enough place at home because I really would like to increase my fair but as I've built it on the diner table my wife was not realy pleased :) I've also tried to do a ballon seller using 2 part of 2X2X1 rounded on top but it was too big for minifig. If ever you find a solution please tell me ;) Good luck for your fair Quote
BlueBard Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Greay fair, indeed! I really like the idea of doing it completely modular, and of course the bumper cars design is amazing Quote
paul_delahaye Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Bumper cars are much harder to make work sucessfully that it looks, I tried a chain driven system, with a magnet attached to the chain but it was a failure, love the mirror ball, nice touch Quote
AllanSmith Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 (edited) Bumper cars are much harder to make work sucessfully that it looks, I tried a chain driven system, with a magnet attached to the chain but it was a failure, love the mirror ball, nice touchI used the chain system copied from David of Bodville in Australia. It worked great for 2 whole days at the Taupo Hobby Expo. You can see it going at about 1:30 into video. Bodville video below: Edited March 29, 2010 by AllanSmith Quote
lego-maniac Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 I've seen this system but I think that there is 2 problems : 1- I don't understand how magnets are fixed on the chain (please could you explain me the technic ?) 2- I don't like the aspect of the inverted plate on the floor. I think that my solution is nicer but probably ess efficient. I also think that my bumper cars are nicer :) To BlueBard : It is very to build when it's modular because you can change when you want without breaking all the moc ! Moreover, I've tried to build the Pizza or the IceCream like it was a trailer truck to be more realist thanks for all your comments guys ! Quote

lego-maniac Posted April 3, 2010 Author Posted April 3, 2010 I have posted a new topic on my dodgems to answer your questions. Click here Thanks for the link. I've understand now how does it works ! but I'm not really conviced by the magnets glued on the chain... I prefer find real Lego solutions ;) Quote
