Vader Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Well i can understand that especially as Van Nis hasnt played that much lately, but i do fill that the way the dutch play is suited to his style and he is the type of player who can poach a goal which will help. Quote
xwingyoda Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 And what about that beautifull French team full of oldies, and led by crappy politics instead of sports (the best exemple is our obnoxious goalie Barthez who has not his place anymore has n Quote
Vader Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 The french situation does seem rather strange from what ive read and i was very shocked that barcelona Guily wasnt even in the squad :-/ Quote
xwingyoda Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 The french situation does seem rather strange from what ive read and i was very shocked that barcelona Guily wasnt even in the squad :-/ Yeay Ludovic not being selected really aggravated me >:-( That and the fact that Gregory Coupet was not selected as the n Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Coupet is the Lyon goalie, right? I think he isn't bad, actually. Then again, I haven't heard much from Barthez lately... Quote
Vader Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 From what ive seen hes far better than fabian and he dosent seem to make mistakes like fab does at times. Some of the goals he let in when playing for Man Utd were priceless :-D Quote
JoeMI6 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I will be supporting England, but I doubt we'll win. I think it will be a win for either Brazil, Italy or Germany. Quote
prateek Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Italy all the way! *y* im not big on soccer though *sad* Quote
chewie Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 I'm not huge on soccer, however, my friend who plays for the Canadian Under 20s team and Provincials team and as well as trained with Everton in England is obviously huge into soccer, so I think im gonna watch the World Cup and see who wins. I'm kind of hoping its Germany, I'm half German and half Dutch, and I've always liked the Germans. So I definatly hope Germany wins. Chewie Quote
Vader Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Ahhhhh it does make me laugh when our friends from across the pond call football soccer ;-) So i saw an interesting report from munich today which showed that the germans have put the flags of 31 world cup nations out.....yes thats right 31 guess whos been left out ;-) Still im sure one of our fans will see to it :-D Quote
KimT Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Who cares about football/soccer anyways? It's just a silly game anyhow |-/ I hope Angola wins.... KimT [Yes I'm a Dane] Quote
Hobbes Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Who cares about football/soccer anyways? It's just a silly game anyhow |-/ I agree. I think you'd feel home in this thread then ;-) I hope Angola wins.... The only thing I "care" about is that Germany gets eliminated as soon as possible... Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted June 16, 2006 Author Posted June 16, 2006 Both my teams are through :-D Although Holland had me worried for the last few minutes there. Quote
Vader Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Ahhh the promised land of the 2nd round and a possible meeting with ...the germans X-O :-D Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Ahhh the promised land of the 2nd round and a possible meeting with ...the germans X-O :-D Won't happen in 1/8th ;-) Since Germany plays before, England will have the choice of finishing 1st or 2nd hehe yeay !! But Ecuador, will be tough too though ;-) *yoda* Quote
snefroe Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Even though, you people, may glorify all your teams, i still haven't seen any spectacular game, i'm afraid to say: The Dutch are through, but their game was really shaky yesterday. The Germans only scored at the last minute in their second game against a team that was really on the defence. Sure, they're going to the second, but I don't see them playing the finals... not this time... More or less the same happened to the UK if i'm not mistaken. They haven't really been tested yet, so we'll see how this goes... The French? Not really sure what they're doing there. many players are more concerned about what to do after their retirement, then with playing a good game. I hope they'll seriously improve their game or it's gonna be another Waterloo for them... Quote
Vader Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Oh sne i totally agree with you on the games, hopefully when the second round starts we should see some better games. So far all the big teams seem to have been playing in 2nd gear, then again argentina did manage to score 6 yesterday :-D Oh and there is no UK team just England :-D ;-) Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Sne, have you seen Spain and Argentina play ?? They are the most impressive team so far !! Also, usually the first games are never that fantastic !! To come back on my National Team, I seriously hope they loose because I hate Domenech, this pompous bastard !! His best speach ever was after that 0-0 he dared to say that we prevented giving 2 points to an adversary !! His tactics is really bad !! We won in 98 with a very very strong defense and midfields (only like 20% of goalies were scored by attackers). The problem is that Laurent Blanc is here no more, our real captain the same and the list goes on !! Add that Zidane played like megablock really (2 balls gained for 17 lost), he couln't center a ball, he is awfull (only a shadow of his former self). Riberi the young and fresh joker was "dead" after 30 minutes !! Also there is NO way we will score without two attackers since our middle suck big time. So will the history of 2002 (elimination after 3 games with NO goals scored !!) repeat itself ? I think so !! Add the fact that we don't scare other teams anymore !! *yoda* Quote
snefroe Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Oh and there is no UK team just England :-D ;-) ooops... i do apoligise for the blasphemy :-$ :-$ :-P Quote

His best speach ever was after that 0-0 he dared to say that we prevented giving 2 points to an adversary !! *yoda* yep, Argentina and Spain are by far the most interesting for the moment. Before the tournement I would have added Mexico to those as well, but for some reason they seem to have faded away... I do agree with your analysis of the French team... They've lost the brain of the team with Leblanc, so now they're running around with no clear tactics. Then they get Barthez back, who's really not the best keeper of France anymore, but a very good friend of the old gang, so... hopla! here he sudenly is again, brobably highly surprised himself! I do feel for Henri, though. a fantastic player who now has to deal with a buch of players who simply can't follow the game anymore... and they still haven't played against brilliant teams yet... It is a shame though that Ivory Coast no longer has any chance to get to the second... Many used to play for a Belgian football club and they really played fantastic back then. Even Anderlecht didn't stand much of a chance against them, and they were playing CL at that time with people like Kohler, who's just been injured whilst playing for his country a few days back... :'-( Did you guys see the FIFA ranking? it's hilarious! The United States is according to that ranking the number 5 or 6 in the world! Imagine that! G... even Belgium wouldn't have a hard time beating them, and though we're 56 or something... Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Yes Sne, I feel sorry for the Ivory Coast !! I wanted them to go in 1/8 instead of those orange crappers !! Lets continue on the French analysis a bit shall we hehe !! (oh boy I dislike the staff and Team !!) Henry is one of the best attacker in the world but in...England !! He always play like crap for France !! And the lack of offensive mid field is not the only reason !! Remember the forst French game, when the offense on the move, the mid fields were more than 30 crappy meters back (way to go Zidane !!!) Every French media look like Zidane as some sort of French God (what a load of BS) !! I much prefer Spiceboy and by FAR !! Seen his 60 meters pass on the feet of the player ? That is like a new version of FIFA 06 video game Then there is the Barthez case !! This guy is a SOB and does NOT deserve his place as goalie n Quote
