So, this makes me wonder...what else do you spend your money on? Or well, at least the tiny bit that's left of it? :-P

What else that I spent money on? Actually not much else then Lego. The only thing except from Lego that I use alot of money on is pc and videogames (ofcorse do I use money on other things too, but not much). Im sorry to say that I have totally lost track of how much i spent on videogames, cause I have more than 80(yes 80) xbox, xbox360, ps2 and gamecube games along with a bunch of pc games. Just too bad that I share half of the games with my younger brother, but without his help then might not had been able to afford all of those games.

Huh, interesting topic! It's a good reference point to see what other folks spend. I myself spend, on average, probably only about 500-700 USD a year (counting both sets and piece-by-piece purchases off Bricklink). It helps that the SW sets have slowed down a bit.

As folks have been saying, I think it's important not to let Lego purchases start getting in the way of other important financial obligations (family, mortgage, school, retirement savings, etc.) That's one of the signs of an addiction, after all, when something begins to affect your quality of life. However, I also agree that as hobbies go, there are definitely more expensive ones.... and ultimately ANY hobby will end up costing you some cash. If it brings you happiness and fulfillment, it's worth spending a bit of money on. As long as it doesn't get so out of hand that it puts you in financial trouble.

Interesting question. I probably average $300/month (USD).

When I first looked at this number, it really looks like a lot. But when I compare it to what my friends spend on their hobbies, it doesn't seem that bad. For example, I have a friend who plays golf every weekend. He easily spends that much. I have another friend who is into movies. He spends about that much a month buying movies. Another friend is into video games. He probably buys 4-8 new games a month - same thing.

Plus, my kids enjoy building things with me so that helps me justify the expense :-)

About 1200 euros last year. Less than 100 euros this one. Depends on the income :'-(

Same here. I spend way more money on games then on Lego. I guess around 750-1000 Euro a year, actually.

both of my orange clip pieces from the snowspeeder and ATST mini set *n* *sing* :'-(

The clips on flags have always been a weak point... They break so easily which is really annoying because if they both break then the flag can't be clipped onto anything without the assistance of super glue.

I havnt spent much at all this year. Probabley like 50-100...But that was around christmas time. But last year I spent...Drumroll....Now remember I have no Job. I have no idea how I managed to get soo much money.... 800$....Yah I know. E-bay and bricklink do add on fast..Gosh... Boy did I overuse those dots (...)

Hmm... Well i got back into lego about this time last year. Up to this point, i probbly have between $2,000 to $2,500. That includes new sets, bricklink orders, old sets, and gifts. If you don't include the gifts, probbly $2,000. These are just rough estemtes. It might even be more. This year i probbly have spent around $500.

This might seem alot to some, but this is still cheaper than when i used to fix up my car. I used to spend $500 a month on parts. Then i used to show the car at car shows. If the show wasn't local, i would have to get a hotel room. If you include the hotel room , the entry cost of the show, and fod and what not, it could turn out to be a $400 weekend. So yes, this collectinglego iisn't the cheapiest, but it defently isn't the most expensive either. Lego also don't have to be an expensive hobby ether. Thats whats so great about it. If you don't like what you have, take it apart and build somthing else! When i used to show my car, some of the guys on my show team would spend over 2,000 a month on mods.

5150 Lego,

What car did you use to have if you don't mind me asking ? And do you stille have it ? I am still a real huge fan of cars *sweet*

*yoda*

No problem. I used to show my 03 VW Passat. I love it, and the best part is that its differnt. I'm always getting asked what kind of car it is. Most think its an Audi, or Saab. I've even got mercades a few times. Here it is at its prim.IForgeFlux.jpg

If you want, i can list all the mods i did to it.

Well, I'm guessing he's done quite a few mods to it, so it's better then just a reguler Passat.

But anyway, maybe 5150 Lego should make a seperate thread for his car where we can comment on it with out going off topic... :-)

Last year I spent so much money, if I tried to count I would faint. This year I am trying to cut back a little, but it is so hard because Batman and a few other themes came out this year.

So far i have bought...

Slave 1

B-Wing

A-Wing

V-Wing

1 X-Pod

Little $5 Exo-force set.

General Grievous Chase

Avatar Ship

which equals to about $191 dollars, I think, and plus I probably forgot a couple... I also still plan on buying,

2 more X-pods

Avatar Temple

Clone Turbo Tank

Jabba's Sail Barge

Imp. Star Destroyer

UCS AT-ST

Arkham Asylum

Exoforce Grand Titan

Catwoman Pursuit

and maybe even more...

Which would equal about $654 including the already bought stuff, and if Arkham Asylum is $60,

I also want to make a couple large Bricklink orders...

>:-) I have gone insane,

i have gone insane too. my wife is angry over the storage space i am occupying with all the empty boxes and threaten to throw them away. "no honey! boxes contribute 20% of the value! you will be throwing money away!" hehehehe...

at first i wanted to stick with just the exoforce lines (and some misc parts for mod/mocs), then i got a pair of super cheap batman sets from ebay. and the star wars sets were also beckoning me (20-25% dc from ebay with the possibility of price appreciation when the set sell out). at first i only got the sets i wanted, but i am now hording a few misb star wars and batman which i got cheaply from ebay, and will probably start selling them when they are discontinued a few years from now. :-)

so now i'm invested in 3 lines - batman, star wars and exoforce. :-/ at some point i will probably have to start selling some of the sets i have been accummulating. it's so hard sticking to plan when sets sell for so cheap at ebay.

Sometimes i see pictures on brickshelf of people having bought hunderds of lego boxes at once.... *wacko*...So i was wondering: How much money do you spent on lego every month? Offcourse this varies but what do you think is your average?

I think mine is about 50 euro's every month :-)

Way too much. I've abstained for the last month or two, but I'm headed to a lego store tomorrow. Will probably get the 787, Tower Crane, and 9V train track.

I probably average $50 a month total, some months I spend $0, some way above that.

here is a thread which explored a similar idea...

http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=5186

like i said there, i run a BL store too... so i keep track of this stuff vary carfully. it looks like in june (date on last thread) i had spent 944.66 USD in the past 12 months. here it is december and im up to 1631.55 in the past 12 months !!!

however, i just spent a lot of money (approimately 750 USD) on my first train system, all within the past 3 months... i have to say, those tracks are expensive, but im glad i found them on lego.com PaB for only 1.50 each !!!
