Voting made me realize just how many talented builders are in GoH

The overall quality of the entries amazed me *huh* Looking forward to challenge 5! After a few freebuilds that is

What has really surprised me is not how many great builders we have... But how great the builders have improved! It's increadible seeing builders seemingly do the impossible and keep coming out with better and better builds!

Just realised Revolword is drow-lover backwards...

:slow clap:

I want to join Guild of Historica, but here is my few questions:

1) If I understand well there are four Guilds:

-Avalonia (located in woods and swamps?)

-Mitgardia (located in high mountains?)

-Nocturnus (located in dark places (underground?))

-Kaliphiln (located in desert?)

2) In which Guild is located hills (with grass, no snow)?

3) I have 2-3 warriors who have lion symbol. In which Guild are going that warriors?

4) I want to have group with elves, dwarves, and people. Can I?

5) Can i have big group of beginning? I mean seven warriors.

6) Can I building story of my hero with every creation and can I do that like story? I mean like:first part, second part...

7) I build creation when I want or someone giving me a quests?

That is all from me. :sceptic:

I will attempt to answer your questions as best I can.

1.) Yes that is about right for the guilds. However, all of them abut each other and while they have a stereotypical landscape, each of them has variation. For instance, Nocturnus is thought of us dark tunnels, volcanic areas and swamps, but has an area near the other borders that is lush and flat. Kaliphlin is a desert, but has areas of vegetation and areas that border the sea. Avalonia is the wooded wonderland of the world, but buts up against dry Kaliphlin areas and mountainous Mitgardian areas as well. And Mitgardia is the colder mountainous area similar to Norse mythology, but it does experience spring and have rolling hilly areas similar to Scotland(I would assume).

2.)See above...really all of them have that type of area at some point.

3.)Typically you will see the Lion in Kaliphlin, but could be made to fit anywhere.

4.)Yes you can...in any of the guilds

5.)Yes you can. Typically there is one main hero, but for instance in my intro, there are several named characters who make up the 'group' that travels with my hero....and I have since added more.

6.)Yes you can...GoH is for us to have fun and improve our skills. Adding a story to each, or having each progress through a story is a wonderful addition to any creation.

7.)There are challenges posed every 2-3 months, but beyond that build whatever you like!

Hope that helps!

Thanks for all answers! That help much!

But I want ask one more question:

When I build some creation, and I for two months dont do anything I can turn in that creation in challenge?

Posted

As long as it is posted during the challenge and meets the challenge requirements, then yes that will work.

You took your time ;)

Great, whip up some evil characters, and let's make some mayhem trough the realm ;)

Edit: I do not know where this kind of question should be asked, but as I do intend to use these wings (if solid) in Guilds, maybe it can stay here; the question:

Are the wings from this set solid, rubber or cloth?

Fairy with Cloth Skirt Key Chain, Pink Wings

They are a rubbery plastic...my daughter has this key chain. But she won't let me have it :cry_sad:

Maybe I should have you send some drow to steal it for me....nah, not from my own daughter!

They are a rubbery plastic...

Thank you so much!

Wow, that means we have another set of wings that I've never heard of before, and they are not cloth :) I will order one immediately, I know it is a keychain, but I have a whole wood workshop with all the machines at my disposal, so I think it would not be that hard to chop the head off without hurting the wings. Such a pity, I love her body print...

I have another request, could you make few photos and/or video of wings, how bendy are they, and anything that would give me more information about its usefullness

Is there a map showing the 4 different guilds connected, or all of Historica? It would be useful for my entry to the Design a 5th Guild mini-challenge :classic:

The best one I've seen is here.

As you can see this is also an entry for the fifth Guild Challenge, but with permission, and some editing, you could probably make do.

No, I don't think there is one. The closest thing to that is the first picture in this post, shown below, but it's way out of date.

I've been meaning to take my latest Kaliphlin map and expand it to cover all of Historica, but haven't gotten around to it. If I get stuck in some long, boring conference calls this week, I'll do it. I'm currently in the middle of updating the detailed Kaliphlin maps, so I'm in mapmaking mode anyway.

I made one, then shrunk it down to the corner of this

If people really want it I could make it again.

OK, here's my first draft of the overall Historica map!

Historica Map

You might want to click through and check it out on Flickr. It's pretty big -- about 2000x1600 px. By the scale used on my Kaliphlin maps, the continent is 730 miles north-south and 850 miles east west. Total land area is about 300,000 square miles (777 sq km). That's bigger than Texas or France; about the size of Turkey.

I've got to do a better job of integrating the Mitgardia map and making it look like the rest of the map. Mitgardia so far was the easiest to integrate -- I just put it in and slightly adjusted the size and that's it. For Avalonia and Nocturnus, I pretty much had to retrace their maps.

fabulous job! Having just started dabbling in creating maps, I can appreciate how much work went into this.

Me too. Greate work, I'm glad to see we have a more professional map of historica now!

Sometimes I wonder how the people who left this project (and most times EB as well) are doing... I was doing some research and landed in the period around Xmas and discovered (for Kaliphlin) that only half of those who were really active then are still here...

I mean, they never said goodbye or they said they were going on holiday, but they never came back...

Anyway: to CptMugwash, Basiliscus and all those others: enjoy real life and hopefully we'll see you back one day :classic:

Well, I think some of them will be back. Some people do have a tendency to drift in and out. I was absent for most of July and early August, and haven't had a chance to build anything really since Challenge 3. But yes, I wonder what people are up to.

More importantly, is there anything we could change about GoH so that more people stick around? Looking at the Kaliphlin first post, I see 45 names listed there as guildmembers. I'm guessing that only about 14 are still posting: NiceMarmot , DaMaximus, SI-mocs, Gabe, SkaForHire, Erynlasgalen, robuko, Mikel Kalores, Kayne, Axis600, Kai NRG, Medic!!!, Sebeus I, gedren_y. Although some of those 45 never really got further than posting their sigfig. I suppose 14 isn't bad, and maybe some are lurking and not posting. Some Most people are not as chatty as you, DaMaximus! I think most of us are in the northern hemisphere, and were a bit distracted by the good weather over the past few months. Perhaps some of them will drift back in.

But would more have stuck around if we'd had more mini-challenges? Fewer? More community-building like the university? Would an in-character chat topic have helped? (I still think we should do one of these, maybe by guild, plus one in a tavern in Cedrica.) Or maybe some more non-building challenges? More tutorials by our master builders? Who knows; they're all decent ideas, but we'd have to hear from some of those who have been away for a while.

That kind of goes around in circles - more people would (thoretically) mean more challanges, etc., since there would be enough to participate. And like you said, it could work the other way too. . .

Good weather does have a lot to do with it, I'm sure. Although, being in the Southern Hemisphere myself. . . :classic:

It was up; I saw it and got to read it, and then I couldn't find it after I left the page. In response to kabel, I thought that Challenge V sounded easier than III or IV, but that might just be because I don't like building magic-related things like crystal shrines or elementals. I'm not sure if the Guild Leaders meant to post the challenge at time it was up or not, so I won't say any more about it.

well, I saw it and it looked pretty demanding to me. I guess the mods are still fixing some of the things. The due date, for example, seemed rather unrealistic.
