Kai NRG Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 I'm afraid this part of Kaliphlin isn't particularly thrilled about having such an ambitious character ruling...
Mike S Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 So what does this guild think of having a new leader named Zakon GoldBlade? I don't know... I was thinking about running for the position myself
robuko Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 So what does this guild think of having a new leader named Zakon GoldBlade? The same Zakon GoldBlade who keeps children in lakes of blood in his dungeon, and who cut off oil supplies from Kaliphlin to Avalonia during their hour of greatest need in the Revolword war? He was certainly very good for a certain type of entrepreneurial trader.... It would be very exciting to have such a talented builder in Kaliphlin, your Kaliphlin build in Challenge VI was outstanding. The current laissez-faire leadership had gone down very well here and somehow I'm not sure that would be Zakon's style. You are welcome to stand for leader, but it might require some unbelievably large bribes to secure the votes.
Erynlasgalen Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 So what does this guild think of having a new leader named Zakon GoldBlade? Like I said in the other thread, I am 100% against anyone moving guilds just to try to be a leader here. If Zakon wants to come to Kaliphlin to help and contribute to the guild as a whole than I say you are more than welcome, but if you want to be here purely for some power I reckon it wouldn't be taken very positively.
Nightstalker Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 I've never heard of this Zakon guy, but I sure know he isn't from Kaliphlin. I'd openly oppose him as it stands right now.
Captain Settle Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 I've never heard of this Zakon guy. Then you're lucky.
Garmadon Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Like I said in the other thread, I am 100% against anyone moving guilds just to try to be a leader here. Personally (though I'm not Kaliphlinian) I do not think that rules are necessary to prevent anyone from running for the ruler of Kaliphlin, i.e., if I ran, I wouldn't win anyways Anybody can run, but there are really only a few (long-standing Kaliphlinians) who would even stand a chance.

I agree, though I think it's unlikely anyone would actually obtain the position that way.
Mike S Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) "Greetings Heroes and Heroines of Kaliphlin, I am requesting help of you in a quest to bring Dugal Maclean back to us. I have been informed that a potion called The Kiss of Life can bring him back from death but the ingredients are spread across all of Historica and our time is limited. Should you wish to help me in this endeavor, please travel to Cedrica by 17th of August and I will inform you further of the details. Signed Masa of Kaliphlin" This is going to be a community story build where the participants are tasked with building a MOC, any size of your choosing depicting the finding or gathering of one of the ingredients necessary for the potion. If you wish to participate, please post a pic of your participating hero in this thread by the 17th of August. I plan to then post a second MOC depicting the gathered heroes as they discuss the ingredients needed for the potion. The ingredients then will be finalized and the participants will be free to build their MOC depicting their hero braving the wildernesses of their homeland in search of one of the ingredients. I'm not saying that there should be rules to who can be picked to be a leader, that is not my choice in the least and I would welcome anyone who wants to join Kaliphlin. I meant that being the leader should not be your only motivating reason for switching guilds. You can only move once so make sure you like the Kaliphlin aesthetics and will be happy with your new home guild even if you are not picked.
Nightstalker Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Ooh! Masa has a story build going on. Once Brickfair is all finished up and I've assembled some minifigs and some other MOC's I'll definitely join up. As for leadership, I'm all for staying with our own leader or going for the idea of a council to run Kaliphlin during Flagg's absence. I may be new, but my opinion has to count for something right?
robuko Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I may be new, but my opinion has to count for something right? Of course, as long as you take your bricks to college! I'm very excited about the direction of Masa's story build too. Intriguing goings on to our North West. Is this part of the game/lead up to book 2? Looks like the price of oil will be spiking again so we are happy to pile up inventories here.

Exactly, what I meant was that it would be totally useless to change guilds just for a chance at becoming the leader, since it is very unlikely that anyone who does that would become the leader anyways.
Mike S Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I may be new, but my opinion has to count for something right? All Kaliphlin members' opinions count for something.

runmymouth Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) Sir James of the port of Messahmuk. Has a small castle and a magical sword of the 1000 voices. Don't think it is easy wielding a magical artifact that talks back to you. Sir James has tried to loose his sword as many times as it has talked to him. It will start to float behind him and smack him in the head if he leaves it behind. He once let it smack him for a week before taking it again. He is followed by a rescued slave Robert and his loyal companion dogs Fargo and Brody. He likes to kill bandits to rescue merchant gold to keep his extravagent life style. (I hope I did his introduction right). Edited August 6, 2013 by runmymouth
Nightstalker Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Welcome Sir James! I hope you'll enjoy it here. I know I have for the moment. I encourage you to participate in the community build along with many others from the guild!

Nightstalker Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 So where does everyone stand on the situation in Avalonia? I've seen different opinions out there, but I'm just curious to know what the main body of Kaliphlin is thinking. I'm personally for attempting to find a peaceful solution, given the fact that we still have business with them (i.e. trading, at least I believe so), and cutting that off could actually hurt us as well. I can't say I'm down for conquering anything at the moment, especially seeing as how we don't necessarily have a standing army and even if we did, the backlash we could receive might be catastrophic. What's you all's opinion?

What's you all's opinion? I think Kaliphlin should be satisfied with consolidating our own lands and seeing to our own back yard if the rumors of rebellion are to be believed. And besides, what would there be to conquer which would provide us with something that we can't get easier and cheper (with a profit even!) by trade? When it comes to the leadership of Kaliphlin, I'm not sure if we need one strong dictator leader. The idea of a council of lords and merchant princes ruling together fits in my opinion Kaliphlin better. I have to add that Sir Gideon is not at the moment interested to become a candidate to the leadership of Kaliphlin, such administrative tasks are way to boring for his restless and adventurous mindset. Mike S Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Concerning Avalonia, there really isn't anything we can do except talk. Concerning leadership of Kaliphlin, I think what is being considered leadership is a representative in the "core" who make decisions for chapter 2. Unless of course Kaliphlin wishes to waive its right to representation...

What's you all's opinion? For Avalonia, I find it very interesting how quickly that group was divided! It was already longer well known that they had sometimes trouble sticking together, but the I.A.M.S. could not even dream of a scenario like this It would be fun if one of my secondary characters finds a way to become leader there About the "Kaliphlin has no army": Mpya Stedor has around 100 soldiers to defend itself, 100 "1001 Tigers"-mercenaries, 150 Ximian mercenaries & 30 Atlarkian mercenaries. There are also 100 Alleenridders stationed here Everlast has an army of around 70 soldiers/assassins/undeads But more about this coming very soon Also, thanks to my marriage, MattiusXavier can send at least 400 soldiers whenever he wants And we always have the nice armies of Skaforhire (see his Battle of Queenscross), Masa, Robuko, ... as well For the Kaliphlin throne, I am a big supporter of the Council idea
Mike S Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I propose for us to present a list of Kaliphlin members who we all would be confidant to represent Kaliphlin interests within the "core". Then the present "core" can pick from this list whomever they are the most comfortable with. Either this or the present "core" consulting our opinions on who they have in mind to represent Kaliphlin.
