Capn Frank Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 http://media.peeron.com/brickjournal/brickjournal3.pdf It's about a ship made by Richie Dulin called "The Miserable". It uses standard lego hull mid-sections, but they have been cut in the middle to make the ship wider. I'm considering this "technique" for my future ship. i saw what Richie had done and his ship looks great, however i personally don't ever want to put a hacksaw to my hull pieces. I got a little list together from mocpages.com on some of the best large mocs i've seen of pirate ships and mine. i'd much rather use bricks than hacking away on my precious hull pieces :P http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/21250 this web site uses 3x3 angled bricks, this is my favorite mega pirate moc online right now http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/23693 this is my web site, i used a similar way to build my bow as the first website i listed. i used the black 3x3 angled bricks as much as i could cause it's harder to see the brick lines with black than any other color. http://www.mocpages.com//content_block.php/5451 this web site uses mainly plates for the hull, i don't like it much but it gives you an idea as to what it takes to make a plated hull (tried to fix da links) Quote

I've spent the last couple days dying with a Norwalk like virus and am still recovering so it'll be acouple days. Can't wait to see new pics from you too! Quote

So that's your ship. A while back I came across it and thought it was a very good example of a large ship with a brick-built hull so I posted it along with that third ship you mentioned in the Best Pirate Lego MOC ship thread. Aaron Morse Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I guess you really are because I have no idea what you were trying to just say! Yup ignore previous.....STAY AWAY FROM NORWALK VIRUS! I've lost 8 pounds in 48 hours from "input" and "output" problems Quote
oo7 Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I have a town close to me named Norwalk... 8-| I've lost 8 pounds in 48 hours from "input" and "output" problems That would be heaven for some people I know, nomatter what the cost. X-O |-/ :-P But wow mate that's pretty astounding, must be terrible! Ok, on to brighter subjects, I hope to see some new pictures of your plastic baby when you are up and about again. Quote
Aaron Morse Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Yup... although I had solid food today. I was dreaming of eating a ham sandwich with vegetable soup and I finally got to have some about 6 hours ago. Unfortunately i'm so dehydrated I'm as weak as a kitten I'm home sick from work with 4 unpacked orders from BL and I haven't got the coordination to rig the ship. Is there a doctor on the forum? :-) Mr. phred, is there already a thread about you ship in the MOC forum? I can't really see the details (get an error on mocpages: Query for cookie hit tracking failed). Quote

I can't really see the details (get an error on mocpages: Query for cookie hit tracking failed). here is the brickshelf link http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=213173 i also am having problems with moc pages no i don't have a post about my frigate yet. i've never made my own post so i made my weigh anchor one to see how they work here Quote
El Bucanero Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 That's a bloody cool ship! How much guns are on that ship? That's no frigate, it's a battleship! Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 29, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 29, 2006 no i don't have a post about my frigate yet. That's a cool ship indeed ;-). It deserves a thread for its own (and so we don't get to much "off topic" in this thread). But I would first resize those pictures first. Even with my 4M ADSL-line it takes very long. Another remark for Mr. Phred: When you reply to a msg, it seems you are missing some part (the open quote) for some reason. Example of what you miss: Don't know what the reason might be. You can see what I mean in the last post you did in this thread. Quote
Norrington Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 So Bonoparte, scince you seem to have had time to order those redcoats and are as i beleive, assembling them, do you have any updats on the excalibur? an if you don't wil you start working on it again? PLEASE!?!? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 24, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 24, 2006 WHoops, posted in the wrong thread X-D sorry! Was supposed to be in the Dame du Loup ship thread... No problem Mr. Tiber. Now you have reminded me that I still have to finish the Excalibur. Quote
El Bucanero Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 No problem Mr. Tiber. Now you have reminded me that I still have to finish the Excalibur. Yes, how is the Excalibur right now?? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted January 11, 2007 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted January 11, 2007 Yes, how is the Excalibur right now?? I didn't do much on it :-$ Have been playing with my Napoleonic army and my crusader knights instead. Once I've worked for 5 years on some ships :-D . Quote
Norrington Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Please start the constructin back up again! Please, please, please! Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted January 27, 2007 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted January 27, 2007 Today I continued the construction of the Excalibur. I mainly worked on the stern and front of the ship because I was not happy with how they looked. Here are some update pictures (sorry for the quality): Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted January 27, 2007 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted January 27, 2007 Here are some more pics to give an impression of the current state of the ship: Maybe I have my new camera next week so I can take better pictures. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted January 27, 2007 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted January 27, 2007 Is there a deck on this ship yet? Not yet, I first want to get the hull finished completely. I just ordered some parts on bricklink because the other side of the ship is still unfinished. Quote
simonwillems Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 This is becoming a beautiful ship mr. Bonaparte! I really like the sleek line of it. I love the way the stern with the windows is integrated in the ships hull. It looks like you have to demolish some more Sopwith Camel planes to reach the desired number of brown latticed windowpanes.. *sweet* Keep us up to date with the proceedings! Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted January 28, 2007 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted January 28, 2007 Since I was not very happy with the colors of my ship (too much black), I started experimenting. But now I really need another opinion. I quickly added some mast just to get a better view on the hull. Here are 3 pictures with each time a small difference on the front of the ship: This is how the ship looks at this moment: With a narrower black banner in the front: With the black banner in the front removed: Before my experiments with the color-scheme, the ship looked like this: Quote
