Capt. Stabbin Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Layout Hello Everybody! After purchasing the Fire Brigade, I have been infected with modular madness. My last city Garden Grove went down in flames and out of the ashes was born Stabbin Town. As always, this will be a constant work in progress. And a project I will hopefully work on for the rest of my life, as I acquire more bricks and learn more techniques. So, stay tuned for updates! So here are my modular buildings, 16 wide: This is my version of the Pet Shop house: And the main street: Thanks for looking C&C Welcome Capt. Stabbin Quote
The Blue Brick Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 This town is already looking great Capt. Stabbin. BTW, I loved your old town. This one looks just as great but modular. I really love your version of the Pet Shop house and the other buildings. What exactly did you use for the roads? Paper, anyways they came out fantastic. The construction site is also very nice. Pastajensen Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Thanks for sharing this, great inspiration. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Excellent work 'Capt. Stabbin', but where can I score some of that overproof white rum ? Keep going it's looking great.....Brick On 'Capt. Stabbin' ! Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Beautiful modular buildings! All together are magnificent! Quote
The Joker1 Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Nice work they look great together. Could we see a close up of the tiny yellow biulding. Quote
Vindicare Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Wow, you've certainly come a long way since Garden Grove. From small buildings, to good looking modulars. Well done. The facades are well done, but on the first, why do you have 3 types of tiles? I like the brown arches on top, nice contrast. The sides on the brown building are nice, a shame they are hidden by the others. Nice billboard. Quote
MetroiD Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Stabbin Town is looking very well so far. If I could suggest something, it would be to go back to the "Garden Grove" roots and include some green plots here and there; even at this size a city needs those, so a central park would fit in great there. I was also wondering - is that glossy paper you've used to print the streets on? It works just a fine and looks like a great solution. Quote

I agree with the paper roads, looks better than when you have a pavement/sidewalk on the main buildings base and then another pavement/sidewalk on the road base Quote
Capt. Stabbin Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 What exactly did you use for the roads? Paper, anyways they came out fantastic. Thanks! The roads are just pictures I found on Brickshelf. Printed, colored, and laminated. where can I score some of that overproof white rum ? At Bob's Liqours around the corner! (just have to build it ) Could we see a close up of the tiny yellow biulding. I'm not happy with the yellow building, so it is just filler for now. why do you have 3 types of tiles? Not sure fully understand your question, but I'm just working with the pieces I have. Stabbin Town is looking very well so far. That's a great idea, Thanks! Thanks for the comments everybody! Capt. Stabbin Quote
Vindicare Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I was just curious if your use of 1x1(x4) on the first row, the 1x2's and 2x2's on the rest of the first building. I thought maybe it was part of the design. If it's just use what you have I get it. Quote
Capt. Stabbin Posted August 28, 2012 Author Posted August 28, 2012 (edited) Stabbin Town update! I have torn down buildings I was unhappy with, Gained a Pet Shop, and added a new building. I also changed the layout a little bit. The orange and lime buildings are just filler. Thanks for looking! Edited August 28, 2012 by Capt. Stabbin Quote
TheBricktator Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 This is really well done! I love the roads, it's good to see what a modular town would look like without the 6 stud gap between the roadside and the sidewalks! Quote
twenty6twelve Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Whatever became of your yellow, 8-wide building? Despite your dissatisfaction I quite liked it's design. I hope it's survived. Perhaps another color might suit it best? Tan, maybe? Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Looking good still 'Capt. Stabbin', keep going and Brick On ! Quote
Hey Joe Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Great stuff. I was thinking a better name might be Stabbinton, what do you think? Quote

Perhaps another color might suit it best? Tan, maybe? Sadly it has not survived. It was demolished to make way for new buildings, in the name of "progress". Great stuff. I was thinking a better name might be Stabbinton, what do you think? I love it! I'll have to mention it to the mayor! Quote
Wedge09 Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Nice city I love the park and the streets What are the two build in orange and green fluorescent near the Fire Brigade? Quote
The Blue Brick Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Great update once again. This time, it looks even better. I love the brown building similar to the townhouse from the petshop set. The brightly colored buildings are a nice modern design, and definitely make your town more colorful. I also like the printed roads I think? They look nice and an easy way to expand without buying road plates. Quote
Venunder Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 It is looking good. Even the filler buildings.... I just hope to get my city started some time in the next two years. I have a few modular buildings so it should expand quite quickly at first. I just need the space now... :) New house is required with a 40 foot lego basement. :) If only S@H had one on its shelves.:) Quote
