Tobias_Jay Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Do we know that all three of those Marvel sets will be based on GotG? Maybe one of them could be based on Captain America 2? Edited January 6, 2014 by Wall E2624 Quote
Super Goblin Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I'm a big Marvel comics fan, and I've never heard of Mr Sinister. I've never read an X-Men comic though. How can one be a big Marvel comics can and not ever read a Xmen comic? This doesn't seem possible to me. Quote
Ultron Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Well first off, no I'm not complaining that we're not getting a Lego Oracle, seriously she has no chance of being made. Batgirl yes, Oracle, no. What bugs me is that DC only gets 4 mainstream sets and in Marvels initial wave, they'll be getting 5. One more won't hurt right? But with the 2 Juniors sets, they're added up to DC having 6, and Marvel having 6. Then you add up the 3 DUPLO sets, and DC has 9 and with the 4 extra Marvel sets, Marvel has 9. And since DC had 6 sets last year, and Marvel had 5, it seems kind of right that this year DC got and Marvel got 9 right? But no, everything DC has, Marvel has to have too, DC gets Ultrabuilds, Marvel gets Ultrabuilds, DC get's 1 more set 1 year, Marvel gets more the next. But if DC is getting DUPLO sets, (unless that requires a seperate contract, which I seriously doubt) then Marvel will also get DUPLO sets. Seriously though, If DC got 8 real sets in 2014, that'd be fine, but 3 are DUPLO (and practically useless) and the 1 other is a Juniors set, which leaves us with only 4 "real" sets, and that is IMO very disappointing. And all 4 of those are Batman sets. 2014 just seems like a giant middle finger to DC fans. It goes as follows: DC is getting 8 sets this year! -Only half are actual system sets. DC's 4 sets will have more than just Batman! -Batman's still the central focus, and even then only 2 hero's are new, 1's a Bat-family member (who I love by the way) and as for the other 2, one's also a Bat-family member, and a remake, and the other is missing Leg printing. So Lego can put Leg printing on figures that really don't need it (the Kryptonians come to mind), but they can't put it on the one fig who actually needs it? Wow. DC is getting one non-Batman set this year! -It's a DUPLO Superman set. That's just sad. Forgive me for getting mad for what has evidently been proven to be another Batman year but the time has come, the time has come people! A DUPLO Superman is officially the most exciting thing for DC superheroes 2014! Well marvel also has 5 movies coming out this year so I imagine Lego wants to try and boost off as much of that as possible. DC has 0 movies coming out this year. The way I see it is that Marvel is a much more marketable theme because they are much more prevalent, I guess you could say, in pop culture. DC has nothing to boost their sets this year really. Last year they had man of steel but this year they have nothing. I'm not saying there shouldn't be an equal amount of sets because I totally think there should, but I can see why Lego is pushing Marvel this wave/year, even if it is greedy. This is just my opinion on why there are more marvel sets. I might be wrong but I feel like this has something to do with it. Edited January 6, 2014 by Luna Lovegood Quote
Piranha Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Do we know that all three of those Marvel sets will be based on GotG? Maybe one of them could be based on Captain America 2? No one knows, it would be great if we got one GotG, one TWS, and one ASM 2 set. However since the previous rumor only mentioned GotG and X-men, I think it would be safe to assume those three will be GotG since the film comes out in August. However I am not ruling out those options or even more X-men. On a side note, great job to TLG for listening to feedback, this increase in Marvel sets is very welcome. What if Green Lantern turns out to be a Duplo fig? Quote

strangely Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Forgive me for getting mad for what has evidently been proven to be another Batman year but the time has come, the time has come people! A DUPLO Superman is officially the most exciting thing for DC superheroes 2014! That'll probably change in 2015. The contract for the theme only ran from 2012-14, so that means that it's probably been renegotiated. And that opens up the possibility that this new contract allows for more sets every year. It would only make sense that they've increased the amount of sets. So while this year is underwhelming, next year has the potential to be better than ever. And who knows, maybe there's an exclusive DC set coming this summer or something, Lego has the habit of surprising us. Quote
Ashnflash Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 We aren't only getting one xmen set because the picture below storm and magneto has a minifigure that looks like a sentinel on the top of the box and wolverine is on the side of the box. For the future of DC it would be amazing if we got more sets with Flash with the Rogues and maybe a flash museum. We could even have other heroes come in an help him and NOT JUST BATMAN, its DC Super Heroes not Batman! We need more JLA and Secret Society sets. Imagine the Watchtower or Hall of Doom Also is it confirmed that the next minifigure series will be Marvel? Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Did you mean 'I even' not 'even I'? As Mr Sinister is a very well known villain amongst any Marvel comics fan. I am very hopeful for the Apocalypse figure eventually after what you said though. No, I'm a pretty big comic geek and an aspiring X-Fan but I'd never heard of him. Mister Sinister is a pretty big character in X-Men. He's obviously not in the films at the moment, so he's not as mainstream famous, but I'd say he's one of the 3 main X-Men super villains (Magneto, Apocalypse and Mister Sinister). I used to like his story lines. I'm pretty sure he was involved in the Wolverine cartoon not too long ago. On topic, I'm literally buzzing for the GotG set(s). Quote
Rinzler Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) NOOO! We need more X-Men sets! One is not enough! This link captures my honest reaction: http://www.thingsner...elling-khan.jpg On another note though, looks like i was right on there being three GOTG sets Edited January 6, 2014 by Rinzler Quote

How do you know that minifigure on the box isn't from the Storm/Magneto set? The leaked picture only shows a small portion of the page. Besides I think if we were getting a Sentinel it would more likely be an actual brick built set than a minifigure. Also regarding Wolverine - he's likely going to be on the side of every X-Men box regardless whether he's in the actual set or not. All the Superhero sets have artwork of the character representing the brand the set is based on. Also is it confirmed that the next minifigure series will be Marvel? I'm not sure where you got that from. The next minifigure series is for the Lego Movie followed by the Simpsons. And the 90's X-Men show, that was the best one Definitely. The voice was perfect and the design blows the Wolverine and the X-Men one away. Unlikely as it is, words cannot decribe how happy I'd be if Sinister turned out to be the second villain in the Storm/Magneto set. He's one the easiest X-Men villains for Lego to make. Numbuh1Nerd Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 How can one be a big Marvel comics can and not ever read a Xmen comic? This doesn't seem possible to me. I've been trying to get some X-Men books, but it's really hard to make sure you're getting a good story. The best bet I've found is Grant Morrison's New X-Men, but the Omnibus is almost $100. We aren't only getting one xmen set because the picture below storm and magneto has a minifigure that looks like a sentinel on the top of the box and wolverine is on the side of the box. Imagine the Watchtower or Hall of Doom Also is it confirmed that the next minifigure series will be Marvel? I think that box might just be the box for that Blackbird set, and the "Sentinel" is just a filler until the official designs are out. I'm fairly certain that once DC's cinematic universe takes off, we'll be getting more sets focusing on other characters (and not just movie-based sets). I hope that we'll get that Hall of Justice or Watchtower set despite the movies. That would be cool, though I've never heard anything about that. I assume you mean after the LEGO Movie series? What if Green Lantern turns out to be a Duplo fig? I oughta punch you for just saying that lol Quote
Repeter Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Lol, the super hero line has been out for a few years and DC at least got the Arkham Asylum set...Simpson's hasn't even arrived and already they get sweet 2500+ piece set with a great line-up of minifigs. I am more convinced then ever that it is not TLG that is holding the line back, but the licensed partners. Carry on. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 One X-Men set? Why, why!? Why one every two years? My guess for figs is Woverine with mask(duh), Storm, blue X-Man (Cyclops, Beast, or Iceman), Magneto, and villian/ Deadpool like character ( maybe Sabretooth). Vehicles, Blackbird, Magneto's metal thing, and something for the other villian a small vehicle or base Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 DC Duplo isn't a bad move for TLG at all. The age group of Duplo has a surprising amount of DC merch being sold already. A Duplo line would fit in with their marketing really well. Plus I bet they're all super cute. Bobskink already proved a while back how nice Batman could look as Duplo. Quote
Ultron Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 So if we really are getting an xmen set with a sentinel as some people are claiming we might, is it just going to be a minifig sized one? While it would still be cool to have one, couldn't lego just make a sentinel figure the size of the minifig clocks that they make? That way they would be as large as they are in the game (the big version). I also wish they would do this with Galactus. It would be so cool. Quote

gedren_y Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I'm wondering if this image violates site rules. In the upper left corner is what appears to be part of the standard Lego preliminary image overlay. And the flick-fire just below it makes me confident that we're getting the Blackbird. It also gives me hope that the figs aren't finalized. Quote
