Nice build, Petric! I'd say it's been some time, I remember you posting that on MOCpages in October of 2013.

You got a good (internet?) memory :-)

Hello all, sorry for my absence. I just had my 2nd child, and I have been very busy at work for the past few months, not to mention post-BrickWorld sorting. I've been checking in, but haven't had time to update things until now. I've updated the 1st post, and there are two new Tasks below.

Welcome Back Mpoh, Vitroleum and Simon (soon). Welcome to all of our new members! Great job on Challenge 4 Avalonia! It was a very impressive turnout all around. Challenge V is in the works, and you should be seeing more on that before too long.

I still need to get the HSS thread updated as well as the map. You should be seeing those updates in the next couple of days.

SIXTH TASK - Open to all Historicans

Merchants ply their wares throughout Historica, bringing Avalonian wines to Nocturnus and Kaliphlin spices to Mitgardia. But some brewers are renowned for their finest stouts or lagers, certain Kalihplin oil magnates that are known to provide reliable cheap lamp oil, there are prized meats that can only be purchased from specific breeders. These are the goods that are known throughout Historica by name. What are these goods, and who provides them?

For the sixth task, you need to establish a brand of trade. This "brand" could be the maker/sewer/brewer/carver/grower of goods, it could be a specific region (this should be very specific to a location or small region, not "Nocturnus Cake" or even "Mystic Isles Pizza") or it could be more of a large trade conglomerate that provides a multitude of goods, or has stores throughout Historica. Some of these "brands" are already established in previous MOCs or posts, and some have not yet been established.

To find out all of the details, check out this page:

SEVENTH TASK

Avalonians, we know much about your Lords and Ladies, but how do the common folk live? Do your commoners live in squallor, or do they have the bare essentials for a decent life? The common folk are the life blood of each territory, and their individual failures and successes intermingle to determine the success of Avalonia as a whole.

For the seventh task, you should provide a picture into the life of your peasants. You MUST include a finished interior build of their residence. It is OK to include the exterior as well, but an interior build must be included. Entries for this task should be posted in their own topic and a link should be posted in this thread.

Great news RA, and congrats on the 2nd, quite a stressfull time I know!

Welcome back Simon, glad you survived the service! Oh, btw I've accumulated yet another bag of fleshy Parts, interested?

Congratulations Rouge! I can totally relate to the time limits for the bricks with two small kids and lots to do at work

Great with a new open-ended task also!

Thanks all for the well wishes. The baby is doing well, but we got spoiled with our first one who was sleeping through the night at 2 weeks. We're lucky if baby 2 makes it 4 hours between feedings.

Task 4 has been the most popular task so far, and so I wanted to introduce another global one. It is also working towards another concept I had long before, which this will probably lead into.

Map on the first page is updated - please let me know if I missed your territory.

Congrats Rogue! I'm also back :classic:. We had a great feast at the end, then I went to italy for a week and now I'm back for building

Glad to have you back, Simon! It will be great to see builds from you more frequently. :classic:

Looks like you missed Reyelan. You can find it's borders here.

Thanks for the update! I think you missed Morkerna (probably because mocpages was having some issues with images); you can see it here (outlined in yellow).

Welcome back, Simon - looking forward to seeing the Lord Regent increasing the awesomeness of Avalonia once more!

And welcome back to you too, Rogue! Congratulations on the new soon-to-be excuse for buying more Lego!

The new tasks are looking great, and I can't wait to get started.

(On a sidenote, I think you have missed TitusV's Dron's Fields (or however it's spelled  ) just west of The Trifork on the map)

Oh thank you for noticing that! it's called Drond's Feelds (old version) or Dron's Fields (new version)

I'm looking for some photography advice from one of you experts here. I just finished a build of a cave, and I'd really like to take a picture of it with the top on, and be able to see the inside without having light glare off everything else. I haven't tried anything yet, and I've been really hoping my usual method of taking pictures on a cloudy day will work, but I'm having doubts that it will work for me. Anyone's advice would be greatly appreciated!

I am NOT an expert, but I found that a stand for the camera and long exposure works well for unlit areas. I am sure others will give you better advice, though!

Wow, I just realized how I have started to slack off building for GoH. Only 1/8 of my last builds has been for GoH, and last one was for the Kali civil war! I will be fixing that soon...

@ Milo- I am by no means an expert either, but I have improved my photography skill by Taking a large amount of pictures from different angles with different settings ( after all eventually some should turn out good, right?) and playing around with my camera a lot.

I'll chime in with Bregir's "I'm NOT an expert" proviso - I suggest keeping the ISO low (80) which means that you'll have to find a way to steady the camera (tripod is good, or edge of table - not a huge deal!) and probably should go ahead and set it on timer so pushing the shutter button doesn't affect stability.

"By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes."

Palzipan, Healer of wounds, mender of flesh.

Born and raised in Nocturnus, Palzipan, once a knight in the royal army, has come to Avalonia so as to live a simpler life as a healer. While he manly deals with the art of healing, he is known to dabble in alchemy. A simple life seems not be for him though, because once in Avalonia his past calls out to him, and he joins the Flight of the Dragons...

Woot woot! Finally joining up! And with Avalonia!
