I'm planning on just doing the small battle category. I still have the Nestlands Book I recap to do. Anticlimax will be done as a series of chronicles after the fact. That will give me time to do other things. I also have a lot to work on for my Lost Vega Casino LDD build. I came up with some interesting details for the grand casino floor.

Not considering doing a Nestlands outpost in Nocturnus for the 32x32 category? :classic:

I'm thinking the Nestlands Clans will be staying out of the Nocturnus fight. There's a plan for an embassy after the leadership is firmed up. Since the Minister of External Affairs is in Petraea at the moment (thanks to Gabe), I think I might build something for the University.

<snip> By the way, that lecture theater is fantastic. What convention were you displaying it at? That wasn't brickcon, was it?

Thanks Sschmidt! It wasn't really a con, just a small lego display for a country show in Victoria, Australia. It was pretty funny - we were between the show rabbits and the Country Womens Association jam stall! (I saw some pretty crazy rabbits that day, and also got hassled by a creepy clown - fun times) I'm taking it to a metro lego show this weekend too, which is a fundraiser for our LUG.

I just extended the date a few more weeks now that we have a set end date for challenge 1, hopefully that gives more people time.

As Brickmania Antwerp is really coming closer (2 more weeks  ) , I forced myself to complete the renewed Everlast (48x48) !! Now I am busy with putting the figs on it so hopefully friday I will be able to take pictures

Then I can start building a building in Mitgardia (in Thorshaven, for the GoH lay-out on BMA) :classic:

Looking forward to seeing Everlast! Having a deadline works miracles for motivation, at least for me

I have finally gone through my pictures from the community build I built a castle for a couple of weekends ago. Sorry for the substandard pictures, I plan to "GoH-ify" the castle and take proper pictures sometime in the future when it fits my story.

Whoa Gideon, that's seriously lovely! :oh::wub: I really like the slight angle on that corner tower, and the tree in the central courtyard looks pretty neat too (what i can see of it!) Can't wait to see more pics... where are you going to situate it in GoH? It does have a rather Avalonian look about it..

Yesss... you can do it Damaximus! I'm looking forward to seeing Everlast too. :classic: Are you going to be posting WIP pics of your build? :excited:

Wow! That is seriously cool! And huge! Really looking forward to some more pictures. The scenery is rather green... it must be over west by the Wither Woods somewhere.

Nice, Kai.

I came up with a huge tiered dome design for my LDD build yesterday. I still have to figure out how to implement it, but it will make a grand roof for the casino proper. Maybe a transparent observatory at the top. Lots of statuary on the outside on platforms.

I plan to work on the high roller dining hall tomorrow, as well as the patio garden, and possibly the kitchen.

Thanks! Yes, it will probably have to be in Avalonia somewhere... But as my sigfig originally comes from Avalonia I will have to think of some plotline to make this into a Kaliphlin free-build in some way

After seeing all the great building for GoH, and especially after seeing Gabe's Petrea lecture hall and Gideon's Repairing the Walls of Petrea, I've decided to join Kaliphlin. So far, from looking through this forum, I've figured out that a magician with elemental creatures has just been defeated, and that a necromancer has built a castle in Nocturnus. Would anyone be so kind as to let me know the basics- how to sign up, how to earn points/ranks, what to build after a character intro, and anything else in Historica's history that I need to know? Thanks.

Welcome! Just make a sig-fig, give him/her a back-story and post the story and pic in this thread. Check out the pinned Nocturnus book II challenge thread, and read the rules for that. The theme is civil war, so if you sign up you'll be assigned a side. This theme will continue, cycling through the other guilds, ending with Nocty. Other than the main challenges, you've got the Kaliphlin mini-challenges, which are worth checking out (I think they earn you titles). Other builds (freebuilds), expand your character and/or the setting. There's no real rank system- other than guild leaders. In Kaliphlin I believe there's a bit of a democracy, with power assigned according to length of service in Kaliphlin. Look forward to your builds! Hope that helped, if anyone wants to correct anything!

Much as Valdivus said, all you need to do to sign up is build a sig-fig (a minifigure who will represent you in your builds and storyline) and give that character a short background story (some are longer than others!), and then post it here. Most members use Flickr or Brickshelf (or something simmilar) to upload their photos and then deeplink them here. (If you need help with that we'd be happy to help!)

There isn't much of a in guild ranking system, but to earn points for your guild you can free-build (basically, build anything relevant to Historica, and post as a seperate topic in the forum). After your character intro you are free to build when and how you like, however there are often benefits to entering guild specific challenges (one of those is going on currently), occasionally there are storyline builds or other collaborative builds that are also enjoyable. And there are the "main" Historica Challenges - Challenge I is going on right now in Nocturnus!

Welcome Thomas!

I declare for the best Guild in Historica too! Who am I kidding, I couldn't go to another guild without you guys. With all the continuity we have here, I will continue to represent the various characters of the Petraea General Trading Company. Feels like I should have a new sigfig, but as Rasputin never did that much in book one, there might be more story for him, or more inactivity. Sigfig to come......

Welcome Thomas! If it seems a bit quiet in here, I think its because we Kaliphlinians are fortifying against the trouble going on in Nocturnus just over our northern borders. I'm not sure if its been mentioned but an easy place to find more info about Kaliphlin as well as maps is our Guilds of Historica Wiki.

Welcome to Kaliphlin!

And thanks for letting me know that my build inspired you! :classic: I think I will continue building in that style for a while, as soon as those tan pieces are back in their sorting

The challenge in Nocturnus has me pondering what color palette to use however...

Thanks for all the warm welcomes, guys! I do have one question- how do you get captions underneath your sigfig icons-such as "Propping up Historica's freedom" or "...in limbo"? Edited by Thomas of Tortuga

They're titles, given out at random (there's usually a reason for it, like mine is in reference to a comment about geography I made a while back) by mods. Asking for one is usually a sure fire way NOT to get one.

Those are given by staff, sometimes for a comment (like "Hippy Kicker"), sometimes for MOCing or other stuff (like "Mitgardia's MOCing Machine").

My latest free-build is up! (Picture = link to topic!) <snip>

Super microscale Kai! I've just been at another Lego show so i'm a bit tired for catching up with mocs tonight, but i'll definitely check it out properly tomorrow.

Welcome to Kaliphlin Thomas! I'm glad to hear that my lecture theatre build went some way to helping you choose a guild. Sounds like you have some good advice from other guildies already. I look forward to seeing and reading your intro!
