Depending on how many rivers you wanted (I believe it was five) then I still think that the suggestion of the Arhenaten Delta is the best

Well there are two problems with that location. First there are no lakes. Second, I'm not sure this is the kind of landscape that would support the kind of city he is describing.

Well Ras el Akhen has been a swampy backwater for a while, maybe it's time for it to get a shiny new sister city down there. I remember there are plenty of lagoons and islands and rivers, although most of them are covered with mangroves and mud.

As Mike says, not all of our wonderful land has been mapped yet so just pick a spot.

Well, the eastern side of the Rakath mountains must be filled with rivers and possibly lakes? I've heard that there's a fair bit of snow falling on the Rakath mountains, and sadly much of that wonderful water so rare in most of Kaliphlin flows directly into the eastern sea...

That's a region which is generally less detailed, so putting a few rivers and lakes in the foothills between the mountains and the sea would fit in perfectly :classic:

I suppose, but there isn't much land on the eastern side of the Rakath Mountains. Also, there's no definitive boundary between Nocturnus and Kaliphlin; therefore we may be encroaching on their territory if we were to colonize east of the Rakath Mts.

Well there are a lot of bays on the east coast as can be seen here around Okatowan. I think the main drawback of the east coast is its isolation. The only reason to visit the east coast would be to travel to Nocturnus and I have a feeling Nocturnus trade is more of a shady nature. IMO It would be more suitable for pirate hideouts than major trade cities as the Nocturnus coast is quite treacherous for ships passing for trade with Mitgardia.

I got my interpretation of the main gate finished in time also:

I tried to keep it roughly the same size as Robuko's other side of the gate, and I added a small Western hint as well

Wow *oh2* Awesome job Gideon!

Nasitadel could be on Gorr too, off the like. Smaller rivers and lakes too insignificant to appear on the map could accomodate for the small amount of rivers

Perhaps the lake region on Gorr would be a suitable place for the city. It has a large lake and a river (some tributaries of the river could accomodate for the small amount of rivers)

You are quite right about Gorr being a good location for Nasitadel as well. There used to be a small city on the shores of the lake. Not sure if it still exists or was destroyed by the elementals... The north eastern coast of Gorr is also a good location as a lot of water runs off the mountains and I'm sure forms rivers and lakes.

Gideon, congratulations on your very well deserved tag! You and Gabe makes 2 now in the guild (I think), which is awesome!

Indeed congratulations Gideon! But robuko that makes 3.... Erynlasgalen has one as well.

Man, I can barely keep up -- Old and new in this conversation this week, excellent!

I am kind of stuck/bored with my ship build. Just not my thing, and I can't really be bothered with strings and historical accuracy (sorry kabel). Unfortunately it's blocking my building table from getting on with more Sultan's Gate, which I am much more interested in.

:classic:

My hands are not dextrous enough to tie the knots... So I don't do ropes and cables either. I rather imagine them at this point, unless they hold up sails.

Thanks. I need a lake and multiple rivers for Nasitadel, but if there is none I can come up with a real oasis fortress city instead.

Lots of good discussion here about locations. I think we definitely need a powerful city on the East Coast, so that Nocturnus doesn't creep down our coast.

On this map: File:Kaliphlin-north-east.jpghttp://guildsofhistorica.wikia.com/wiki/File:Kaliphlin-north-east.jpg

There are two rivers, one that goes from Petraea through the lick of salt, near Sultan's Gate (not on the map) and into the mountains. Perhaps there is an underground river that could connect it to the river that is on the eastern side of the mountains. I realize that the mountains would push water in both directions, but perhaps a secret lake exists that feeds both rivers? This would make a good location for a new city on the coast at the mouth of that river. Since it does not have a name, the owner could even name the river. This would make whatever city there a pretty powerful trade city because it has a direct route to the interior, access to mines in the mountains, and access (via a portage at the falls however) to the capitol. It is a pretty good spot, and could be developed into the Jewel of the East. If Aranethan wanted to put Nasitadal there, we could change the geography a little more, and make it a wide delta where many smaller rivers branch out or meet.

Thanks robuko and Mike S! It's GoH I have to thank 100 % for having pushed me into developing my building skills. This was my best build before joining GoH, not that I should attempt to grade my own skills but I think I've picked up a think or three here

I forgot to congratulate you also, so congrats! Wow, the improvement is spectacular. And yes, now we have 3 MOC experts, which may make us tied for first! I expect the rest of you to become one in the next year.

Also, after looking at Eryn's Wyndgardiam, maybe we should just vote to make Easter Kaliphlin just like that... LOL. Pretty awesome story, I don't know how I missed it the first time.

Now that is a great idea with an underground river! Just one thought though, DaMax's Everlast is somewhere in that area isn't it?

Not all buildings have to be composed of sandstone TTROOPER. The only thing that is really regulated is the introduction of new locations into the map and challenges. However, you should try to stick to the Kaliphlin theme of architecture (so it should be a like material) s to respect others' contributions

Guys I have some excellent news. My father is going to be the national retailer manager of all the Tous'R Us stores in South Africa. I was thinking that for LEGO festivals we use Historica as a background.

Yeah, it is somewhere in that vicinity, but for some reason I want to say it was actually in the mountains? It is not listed in the Wiki, and I am not sure where that would be in the threads. On that map, there are three rivers close together that could potentially be this location, so it would not be hard to just switch one of the locations if Everlast ends up being in the same spot.

Is it okay if not all structures are made of sandstone?

Absolutely. Sometimes the stone is painted, sometimes other types of rock are imported, and then of course, there are locations that have a natural abundance of different kinds of rock. It is up to you to figure out what you want to use. And you can always explain it away with story.

That is pretty interesting news. Not sure exactly how that would work, but it would be cool to have some Historica themed MOCs at shows/events in that country as well.

It would be interesting, but it won't be worth buying the rights, getting official permission and all that. But most of my parts and parts in this area is Kaliphlin-orientated.

I could always come up with a different world, though. And I'm not so sure about using Nasitadel as a name for a Kaliphlin city any more. Well, I'll see how this goes. If I make my own world (I've been working on one for two years now) I'll have to keep Nasitadel.

That is very cool. Mine is Concra-Tunisia, a complete world divided by war and competitive empires.

Do you guys know who I'll have to talk to for permission to use Historica as a festival background?

I recycle some material, the names of most of the characters I use are tributes to my friends characters in role-playing games. I tend not to recycle fiction that I have written, just in case I ever get to the point that I want to start shopping it (way to busy with shopping non-fiction right now.) Point is, I think names are probably fine to recycle.

I'm new here but SkaForHire is leader of Kaliphlin, and Ecclesiastes is the the leader of GoH. I'm pretty sure rogueang is leader of Avalonia, ZCerebrus is leader of Nocturnus, and kabel is leader of Mitgardia (though I can't be sure)
