SkaForHire Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 I think that since I will be away from my collection on research trips starting next week, my lonely hotel time might be spent trying to make a workable substitute map for NM's map with all the updated locations. It won't be pretty, or even nice, but it will provide him with a rough map of new locations while he has been gone, so when he comes back and has the time, he can easily lay down a new map without having to scrounge together all information. I am not promising this, but I might be able to do this. On another note, I can't confirm or deny those rumors, Gabe. Quote
Maxim I Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 @Ska: you are completely right! Those lands I am always talking about are there to explain my origins, the names of my characters, the reason I got so many different soldiers, ... It is also because 1/3 of my army is in fact of my real life brother. I may use them in my Mocs and in battles :) They are the well-known army from Ximus (like the Ximian spearmen) :) @Gabe & Gedren: There is also the fortress of Everlast located North of Qarkyr. Here my spies and assassins are trained :) @Ska: There is already a good map (only a year old) on our facebook-group. So maybe it can help you! To all kaliphlin members (especially the newer ones): It has been a while since I invited people into our facebook group (I forgot it, my bad). So if you want to be invited, sent a personal message to me :) Quote
SkaForHire Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 Good call, I forgot about that. I wonder how many of the towns are still "alive" and how many have been washed away by the sands now.. lol. For example, who did stone town belong to? It is one of the original towns, but I can't remember who was building there. Quote

I think it was the colossus, although he hasn't been active for a long time now. Quote
-Horizon- Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Okay, so what do you suggest? As much as I would like to say they're strong, I just can't. I've revealed too little information on them that no judgments can be made yet but they are ruthless fighters, perceptively strong and since they inhabit a tough region, they can endure the harshest conditions the average being can't. Does this mean they are immortal? No, they are just hard to break. Whoops I think I phrased that wrong. How many soldiers do you have? Is what I meant. Quote
Yzalirk Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Whoops I think I phrased that wrong. How many soldiers do you have? Is what I meant. This is embarrassing but currently zero. I'll be about 25 on BrickLink, if 25 is a good number. I may also get some of the other Orcs from the LotR/Hobbit sets like the Gundabad Orcs, Goblins, some Berserkers, Lurtz, ect. Quote

Maxim I Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I thought Stone Town of Gorr was Basiliscus' Strange, in my original City Guide, I had your name next to it... I know Basiliscus was active on the island of Gorr, but I can't remember if it was Stone Town or another town... Wasn't Stone Town of the original cities like Petraea, Queenscross & Qarkyr? Quote

I assume you are referring to two different races, correct me if I'm wrong but I tend to get confused sometimes. Also would you say and army of 25 - 30 is pretty good? As much as I would love to gets lots of the minifigs, it's expensive on BrickLink for them and LEGO isn't selling the Urak Hai Army set anymore. Quote

Two different standards, I'm deciding between humans or making a winged Angel/Harpy type species for my army. I'd say so, Because when are you going to need more than that number in a MOC. Quote

I think you should do that but don't use the Brick Warriors' Harpy tail, it looks a bit weird and could get in the way if you want to put your minifigs in poses. Also, you make a good point with that. Do you also recommend mixing the Urak Hai minifigs with the other Orc minifigs or no? Quote

Maybe for like Captains or something, but for foot soldiers not really. Quote

As an army builder, I tend to collect no more than 30, the only time I may use more is when we wargame with them, or the MOC is just huge... or of course, when someone in the forum decides it is time for a "show your army off" thread. Although I have a few regiments that are much larger than 30. I thought Stone Town of Gorr was Basiliscus' That is correct, He was/is a great builder too... To bad he lost time / interest for the project. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Ah, I was thinking of Mountain Town or something! Quote

That would be awesome, or perhaps an underground cave society? Quote
Mike S Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Due east of Qarkyr is the mouth of a river and inlet, with a small island off the coast. It is a good spot for lush greenery, and is along the trade route to several Nocturnus ports. Between there and the Nestlands is Mountain Mummy territory. I believe there is another's territory north of Qarkyr, but am unsure of the exact location. In the southern sea there are some islands, but the sea is treacherous. Gabe set one of his Book 1 challenge builds there: Quest for the water crystal - The isle with no name. There is the hidden valley of Okatowan on the coast north of Qarkar. Quote

Maxim I Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) I am also more an armybuilder :D With around 600 soldiers, I got already a nice army :D (okay, like explained earlier today, 1/3 of them are from my brother) On another note, I updated the Mpya Stedor topic, with pictures of both East and West Mpya Stedor!! Mike S Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Underground cave! A little while ago, we had talked about and underground cavern waterway connecting that lake just south of the Nocturnus border to the sea to the east. On another note, I updated the Mpya Stedor topic, with pictures of both East and West Mpya Stedor!! Looking good! Quote

The lake that is the source for the river "Lick of Salt?" On another note, is that what that river really is called? Ha! Quote
Gabe Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Nice to see the Mpya Stedor sections together DM, looks great! Sadly i'm not going to get my Sultan's Gate build done in time for the 31st July deadline, but i'll keep chipping away at it as a freebuild. Still planning to make the lift, along with some other stuff which i've been mulling over the last couple of days. Not much to see on the WIP yet, but you might have noticed that i'm trying out Torgar's sweet slanted rock technique on the cliff face. C&c welcome of course! Quote
