robuko Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 That table looks just like a bigger version of mine! Quote
SkaForHire Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 haha. Yeah, there is actually a second table behind me and the pup (lower left corner) with a bunch of junk on it, including the DK's throne room. My wife is not happy, and refuses to go upstairs until this challenge building is over. haha. Quote

SkaForHire Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Haha, those are the exact same tubs I use, both blue and clear. I always seem to lose the lids though... Yeah, I end up stacking them inside of each other while building, then lose the lids under couches or in the storage room or somewhere. I need a better system, but it takes way to long to sort. Quote
Yzalirk Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 That's a stunning set up Ska! I sure hope the Ulandians won. Quote
Adair Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 *Huge build* And I thought I had a reasonably large collection... or maybe it's just that I have some younger brother to dump all my useless pieces on for profit. Too bad the bloody Desert King had to take the place. But for story's sake... Quote
Kai NRG Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 A slew of recent builds: [CG:J13, U vs DK] A Life Saved! [G:F13, U vs. DK] Herding 'em up To eat or be eaten... [WZ1:E7, Ulandus] [G:K12, U vs HC] Crossbow Attack! (On a side note, I'm having a really odd problem with my laptop keyboard - random keys, including n, b, a, r, y, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 0, and both enter buttons, just stopped working - no warning, no sporadic problems beforehand! Not a dust problem, doesn't seem to be a virus, keys don't work in BIOS either, and no enter means I can't even get out. On screen keyboard works - that's what I'm using, but it's a pain! Any expertise would be appreciated, it's a Toshiba Satellite.) Quote
SkaForHire Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 Most likely it is hardware related. Random keys missing usually means a bad pad under the keyboard or a broken connection/wire. Unfortunately, the solution is usually a new keyboard -- which is pretty expensive in a laptop. Sorry. Quote
gedren_y Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 It sounds like the pad sensors under the keys are worn out. This can happen from overuse. I've had this happen with a game controller. Like Ska said, the best fix is a new keyboard, but Amazon has plenty of USB keyboards at reasonable prices. Quote
Kai NRG Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Yes, seems like it is a hardware problem, unfortunately. The odd thing about that though is that its not very old at all! Oh well... Quote
MassEditor Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Hmm, same thing happened to my Toshiba Satellite several years ago. It's an A135 so yeah, it's around a decade old. Random keys started going out (including the ones I need to enter my password ) so I have to use the onscreen keyboard anytime I want to log in. Never did price out what it would cost to fix it, but I'm sure it's not much different than getting a new laptop! Quote
Bregir Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 In some laptops, it is pretty easy to change the keyboard :) Often, it can be lifted right out, a cable unplugged and a new one installed... At least, I have seen it done. Maybe there is still hope :) Quote
Gideon Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Continuing the off topic: IBM just replaced my thinkpad's keyboard in the office, only took 5 minutes. But I'm afraid that replacement keyboards might cost more than a 2x2 tile per key... Quote
Bregir Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I don't think it is necessarily that expensive. At least, I would check it before sending the computer to the junkyard! And "off-topic": Kaliphlin is wrought with civil war, as forces invade (yeah, I said it!) from the south, and a despot (said that too, I did!) is trying to rally support to his reign of terror. It is time for the High Council to stand strong with it's allies to ensure peace, justice and prosperity in the southern lands... Quote
Kai NRG Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Actually if I DYI I don't think it will cost that much ($20?). I just want to be sure that that will be the right solution however. Also have to figure out how to get the keyboard out in the first place. That is, I know how in theory, just haven't managed it in practice yet! So far the indications do seem to be pointing toward a keyboard malfunction rather than either system or the actual computer having problems reading the keyboards signals. At least if it's true that if it has problems with the attached keyboard it would also have problems with a USB board. Or are those totally different? ...Often, it can be lifted right out, a cable unplugged and a new one installed... At least, I have seen it done. Maybe there is still hope :) "lifted right out" Mine has these crazy tabs that I'm concerned will break long before they come out! Trying to lever them out scratches the surrounding plastic too. ...It is time for Ulandus to stand strong with it's allies to ensure peace, justice and prosperity in the southern lands... Corrected a slight misspelling there. Quote
Gideon Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Try an external keyboard and you will know reasonably certain if it's hardware or software related. Ontopic: Kaliphlin is wrought with civil war, as forces invade (yeah, I said it!) from the south, and a despot (said that too, I did!) is trying to rally support to his reign of terror. It is time for the High Council to stand strong with it's allies to ensure peace, justice and prosperity in the southern lands... I agree that those Ulandian invaders need to be expelled! Kaliphlin needs a strong ruler but I'm not sure if that usurping lich is the right man for the job? Quote
Kai NRG Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) Try an external keyboard and you will know reasonably certain if it's hardware or software related. Ontopic: I agree that those Ulandian invaders need to be expelled! Kaliphlin needs a strong ruler but I'm not sure if that usurping lich is the right man for the job? I did. Worked fine. I take it that means the problem is with the hardware, but what I'm not so sure about is if the problem is with the keyboard itself (and thus could be fixed with a replacement keyboard) or beyond that, with the computer. Back on topic: My! Speak of peace, justice and prosperity and then we're going to expel our long-lost brothers without so much as a "Nice-to-see-you-again-and-have-a-good-day?" Bregir Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) Most likely the keyboard. I agree that those Ulandian invaders need to be expelled! Any good suggestions? Edited March 13, 2015 by Bregir Quote
Maxim I Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Most likely the keyboard. Who knows - maybe a strong leader will offer himself to head the High Council! Any good suggestions? Well like most Kaliphlin High Lords will do, I vote for myself hahaha :p But then again, I got always a period of some months of inactivity each year dus real life so Second and probably better choice is Gideon Quote
Yzalirk Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I'm sad that my orders didn't come in time for me to enter that challenge. Quote
Adair Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Yeah, me too. Any challenges I could do in or around Berigora? This was going to be a heck of a build... might as well use it for challenges if possible... Are there any ranks I could do? Or do I have to wait before I can do any of those? Quote
