Doc_Brown Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Great job! I would buy this if it were a set too! Put it on Cuusoo. Thanks for sharing too, I just saw one go down my street and thought that it would be awesome to make, so glad that you made one, saves me making it as I am sure that I couldn't make it better! Quote
TasV Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Yep... been wanting to make one ever since I saw this: http://www.genuinemodels.com/skidsteer.htm Quote
Splat Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 This looks great. Nice work I like that you have used the battery box as a counter-weight, and the way you have reinforced the wheel attachment (seen in the bottom pic). The only concern that I have is that the axles that drive the LAs also act as the pivot points for the bucket arms. If there was a lot of weight in the bucket, there would be a lot of sideways pressure on the axles, causing a lot of friction and possibly causing the drive-train to stall. However, it looks like it is working fine with the small amount of weight (pins) that you have in the bucket. Quote

Would be quite hard to do this otherwise I think; unless you somehow manage to use those new mini turntables (99009 + 99010) as bucket arm pivots and route the axles through them. This would be a lot bulkier though, I think. Edited September 27, 2013 by jantjeuh Quote
TasV Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 (edited) Showed this to my Son and he applied it to making a line-follow robot: Ignore the brick on the end.. it's just there as a counter weight at the moment. I love it because it gives a wide, large platform on the back to which the bricks (x2) and a lift mechanism can be mounted really easily. The weight will end up over the back wheels once the bricks are on. Edited September 28, 2013 by TasV Quote

Showed this to my Son and he applied it to making a line-follow robot: Hahh, that's cool :) Anyway I almost finished with the LDD file. Where do you think I can upload it? Quote
imurvai Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 Ok, I just uploaded the lxf to brickshelf: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/imurvai/bobcat/bobcat.lxf Some comments regarding to the lxf: - The LAs are not connected but I think it is straightforward how to link them - There are some items next to the vehicle, actually I wasn't able to connect them, for some reason the LDD didn't allow me to do that. - Maybe there are some missing pins :) - Apart from the issues above I think one can easily build it.
