MKJoshA Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Gotta say, owning only one of the allowed sets I thought this would be really hard to do with my existing collection. But I just took a couple hours today and parted out as many pieces on the list as I had and I found I have over 75% of the allowed pieces! Now I'm up against the challenge of making those pieces look good... Quote
Lego Spy Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 (edited) Oh no! I thought this would be home-paged so I didn't bother checking Watto's Junkyard! I've lost a whole 15 days! Great. I guess I better get building. One question, (I'm somewhat new to EB) what exactly are we attempting to build here? Getting out of a pile of rubble? (And for anyone who doesn't read the SW forums: I love Jawas. I need that tag. ) Edited October 29, 2013 by Lego Spy Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 I'm sorry to announce a change in the rule: You are only allowed to use your sigifg "for free". Any other minifig pieces count against the twenty piece limit. Any minifig pieces separated from the minifig count as one piece. Minifig pieces can only be grouped to count as one piece when attached to other pieces from the same section of the minifig the way TLG divides them up. Any accessories can't be grouped with the minifig pieces. (So a hand by itself is one piece. A hand and an arm attached together are one piece. The whole torso assembly is one piece, the whole leg assembly is one piece, the head is one piece. Just the torso and the head together are two pieces. Just the torso and just the hips together are two pieces. A torso and a backpack together are two pieces. A hand, an arm, and a gun together are two pieces. A head and a helmet together are two pieces. A Stormtrooper with a blaster is five pieces: legs, torsos, head, helmet, blaster.) If you have already submitted your entry, please check again the number of extra part. If you haven't, there is only 9 days left Quote
TWP Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Does a link tread individually count as one part, or can a complete assembly (of e.g. 40, interconnected, link treads) count as one part? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Does a link tread individually count as one part, or can a complete assembly (of e.g. 40, interconnected, link treads) count as one part? A tread link is individually one part. Quote

Rook Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Only 5 entries so far. You can tell this one has a hard one. Quote
Lego Spy Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Only 5 entries so far. You can tell this one has a hard one. I'm barely anywhere on mine yet. Quote
LegoFjotten Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Only 5 entries so far. You can tell this one has a hard one. Indeed. Stopped working on my entry after the rule change, but may submit it in it's current state even if it is weak. BTW, make sure you check the extra piece count on your awesome entry. The minifigs/minifig accessories/extra parts from the sets are not part of the pile, so I think you need to list them as extra parts. Quote
BEAVeR Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Only 5 entries so far. You can tell this one has a hard one. Yeah, I think people are having a really hard time with this one. But I still hope there will be some great entries that will make the wait worthwhile (come on Empre!). What will happen when there are less than 10 entries? Will there be a round 2 in that case? As for the new parts rule: I used the binoculars that were included with the TIE Fighter as greebles. I don't think they count as minfig accesories in that case? Should I mention them? Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Yesterday I finally took time to sort the needed parts out of my half sorted mess ... so now I'm off to do some MOCing! Quote

I don't think they count as minfig accesories in that case? Should I mention them? No, it doesn't matter if they were already included in the sets. The rules for minifig part count only applies for parts that you've added that weren't part of the sets. Quote

The rules for minifig part count only applies for parts that you've added that weren't part of the sets. To be precise, you mean "The rules for minifig part count only applies for parts that you've added that weren't part of the main build of the sets". Correct? Quote

Correct? I don't actually remember if Bob included extras or not. But to be precise, I mean that "The rules for minifig part count only apply for parts other than your sigfig that you've added that weren't part of the list of allowed parts." Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 I'm sorry about the rules change, but it was needed... I should have forseen this and come up with better rules from the start Quote
Bkrosell Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I don't really have a problem with the rule change, I just need to get rid of my extra mini figs. Quote
Dragonfire Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Can you use a 8x8 flat plate for a baseplate? And can your MOC be tiny and only include 20 pieces (minus your sigfig)? Quote
Nom Carver Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Only 5 entries so far. You can tell this one has a hard one. I couldn't join this battle since I dont have most of the bricks and I cant access to the link of the brick listing. Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Aww man! Why didn't you ask for it again?! I know you said you can't access it before, but I thought it was handled via PM afterwards ... Try my link and ask next time you can't download from Bob or anyone else ... Well you still have the whole weekend if that works for you. Else you'll be greatly missed in this battle! Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 Can you use a 8x8 flat plate for a baseplate? And can your MOC be tiny and only include 20 pieces (minus your sigfig)? The 8x8 plate will count in the 20 extra parts since it isn't a baseplate. According to the rules, your entry could be as tiny as you want... but it's a contest based on creativity and part usage... I couldn't join this battle since I dont have most of the bricks and I cant access to the link of the brick listing. But I added links to a copy of the llists and palettes to the first post in reply to your complaint Quote
Dragonfire Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Well, I only have 2 days left, and I don't have any of those sets nor very many bricks right now, so I'm going to make something extremely small, only because there is only one Imperial MOC so far... Quote

Oh yes! now that was usefull, thanks MstrOfPppts, I will try to get something done, I have been a little busy. But I added links to a copy of the llists and palettes to the first post in reply to your complaint Oops , I didn't catch that, but all of a sudden I can see now everybody avatar status and sig figs Quote
Bkrosell Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Can someone PLZ take a look at my episode 2 entry and see if the base plate i used to make it is okay to be used, someone alerted me to the possibility yesterday, and i would need to know before 12:00 tonight. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=88096 Quote
Covi Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Yeah it was a hard but fun challenge. While building I had all the time the thought "Oh now that part and then I've that as result...argghhh must resist". Quote
